Just discovered this channel. Wow. I make jewelry and will look to buy some rocks from you. I never heard of fire opals before. And they are just up the road from me in California

Oregon has some of the best looking gemstones. Fire Opal AND a rare variety of gem Feldspar with not only colors of orange, red, and green in them, but also literal pieces of copper in them along with adularescence effect. I wish I had both but I haven't gotten around to buying any or finding any yet.
Hiya Troy, well you out did your self on this video, this one is the best one yet. I have some of the chocolate opals from Opal Hill in California, but it's not as awesome as the stones you have. The Fire Opals your digging up is so beautiful. The pink you started with is so beautiful too. I'm glad to see your doing so well. I live in Cajun Country in Louisiana, I started following you on Facebook a long time ago, I shared the hell out of your post way back when, you first started. My name is Glynn, I truly hope you have a great New Year, keep up the awesome videos, I'll never get tired watching them, so I hope you and your family and workers have a blessed, and the greatest day. Cya!
#1 Catfishunter Miller Thank you for your comments and glad you like what we do! I love Louisiana! New Orleans is one of my favorite places. Happy New Year! Michelle of Outlaw Rocks
@@outlawrocks you are so welcome, yes I do love what y'all are doing, besides a fisherman I'm also a rockhound. Y'all have a very special place, I love seeing all the wildlife too. Pretty awesome, God has blessed your family.
I am so glad to find you. 'Sorry it took your post about the fire to do it. My family (both sides) come from Lakeview. I was born there too. Lamb ranch west of town and the Hawk ranch out on the west side. Anyway, I made a purchase from you all today. Praying for all of you out there!!
i live here in oregon, i had no idea we had such awesome gems here, that chocolate fire opal was awesome. i just found 3 gems in a creek the other day, they're only penny size, one is white and very clear, the other is like a light blue, maybe sapphire? idk. and one is amber colored.
@@outlawrocks we are planning a trip back ro oregon in the near future. Is there anywhere for the public to rockhound for opal in oregon if we don't domit.for a living?
I've always thought even though fire opal is beautiful in its own right it would be even more lovely to have the flashes of color inside but the same fire opal base color
Lol! I had that turkey scenario happen to me once too in Western North Carolina! Wildlife is awesome! That muck truck seemed like a great investment for saving some backs. Be careful about jackhammering for too long. It can damage nerves in your hands and arms. Stay safe!
I had a turkey chase me in the woods of Ohio years ago. Lol! The muck truck was a great investment and we try to not jackhammer too long. Take care and thank you for your comment. ⚒🙂❤️ Michelle of Outlaw Rocks
Great 👍 job I never knew that is how opal looks like and different colors wow amazing 😉 thank you 🙏 god bless you both I love ❤️ it I wish that ya can send me a piece for my birthday 🎂 it’s coming up December wow 😮 just beautiful
@@outlawrocks in the early 1900s in san diego the sports equipment producer Spaulding founder helped crest a small town on the beach named ocean beach. He did alot of building and he created a place called lomaland also, a building he helped build was for the thesophical society for intellectuals the building was based on Hindu buildings it had 2 domes one was made from amethyst and had alot of lights under it and at night was used as a lighthouse to keep boats off the cliffs cause it glowed a light purple. Look it up they have colorized pictures of what it looked like. It was called the temple of peace. That's and stained glass church Windows is what made me think of using those in windows
Just found your channel, awesome content. What does your Opal sell for per karat with those huge specimens? Does your opal need to be immersed in water or do you fact it or cut it like Australian opal?
Amo opalas de fogos eu tenho muitas sou apaixonada por elas...mas ai onde vocês estao garimpando parece o lugar certo EXCELENTE video obrigado por compartilhar👍👍👍👍
Amazing video. I live not to far from you guys. Just on the other side of the border. If there was any way I could tag along and help that would be amazing. Just the gain in knowledge would be incredibly helpful for my own adventures. If I could ever get that kind of equipment. Beautiful specimens!!
Very cool. Where abouts is this in Oregon? Looks like somewhere in central Oregon. I live in Salem and do some gold panning and rock hounding around hear.
Just what do you do with these fire opals. Is there a market for them. Is it gem quality or collector quality. One of the nicest videos I have ever seen . Luck to you . Joe
Thanks! 🙂❤️⚒ It’s addicting when you are on a nice seam. We have had a short mining season because of the wildfires, but we are now working almost every day until it starts snowing. Take care!
I live out here in Oregon as well I've been watching you guys for some time a little bit now I was wondering if you ever offer someone to come out and dig with you guys I would love to see it in person and help you all out and possibly do whatever I need to do to help get myself some of that fire opal LOL love the show
Hi Justin! Thank you for your comment and interest. Unfortunately, all of our mines are closed to the public because of legal and liability reasons. That could change in the future though! 🙂⚒❤️
@@outlawrocks sounds good , that is definitely a bummer but I understand fully . Well definitely let me know if you ever need a hand I'm am totally interested !
Hi! We do have that opal for sale at outlawrocksllc.com/collections/oregon-chocolate-fire-opal and everything is 20% off with discount code Save20%. Sorry all of our mines are closed to the public for legal reasons.
Please excuse my ignorance. These stones are gorgeous, but...They don't seem to have the color flashes of black opal, Mexican fire opal, or even some common opals. What qualifies them as opals? This video was beautiful and very well done. What did I learn? I shall not mine my own opals. I shall leave it to experts with strong backs and excellent stamina. Thank you.🪨♊💎♊
Thank you for your comments. This opal does not have play of color but is named fire opal because it ranges in color from yellow to red/orange. This material has been lab tested and certified as opal. It is hard work getting the opal out of basalt. Take care! ❤️😊👍🏻⚒
Im wanting to bring my son and his wife to gem hunt hes always wanted to do this can u tell me where do u stay and can u hunt in March? Or is it too cold?
We are on Facebook. I’m sorry we get so many messages but I did respond. That piece has sold. We have some pieces available at outlawrocksllc.com and we can create custom parcels too.
Would love to bring my son his bday in March im trying to figure out where to go for gem hunting and where do u stay for March won't be that warm gor a tent even tho would love to camp in spring summer but for now is there places close to stay?
I’m sorry, but there will be so much snow at the mine in March that we can’t drive up there and it will be too cold for tent camping. There are no legal campgrounds or fee digs with proper liability insurances nearby. We don’t allow fee digging because of the legal and liability reasons and we are a private business. Plush, OR does offer legal fee digs for sunstones. Have a great day and happy rock hounding 🙂❤️⚒
Sorry, folks, but all this footage of jack hammers, crow bars and muck trucks does't give us any indication as to the value of the opal you are taking out of these mines. We know it has to be worth something, or else you wouldn't have invested so much. Throw us watchers a bone - how much is this stuff worth per carat on the open market?
It’s actually called Oregon fire opal! Why don’t you look up Oregon fire opal, Oregon sunstones and Outlaw Rocks instead of trying to correct me when you are wrong?!
