Cobalt is a mining town in northern Ontario. It is famous for silver, a great rush took place here with people coming from all over the world to prospect and mine in the Canadian shield rock. The silver rush here was a key part of Northern Ontario history.
We explore the town of Cobalt as it is today. The museum has many ore samples, artifacts, and historical information relating to the silver rush and life on the frontier. There are many mines here. Some go under the town. Tailings piles and headframes are scattered around as a reminder of the old days.
There is a driving tour of the silver heritage trail, which takes you around to various mines and mill sites around the town in the hills of Cobalt. As we drive through the hills, there are all sorts of sites with various things to see telling the story of the epic rush that took place and the town that remains.

Today, silver isn't worth very much, but ironically, cobalt is. Back in the day, the mineral cobalt was a nuisances, they didnt mine it, it was only important because it was an indication silver was near by. The area is rich in cobalt, a mineral used to make lithium-ion batteries. All those tailings piles and ponds, probably full of cobalt. The old silver mines that no longer have silver, are still has cobalt ore. There are a lot of people who are pretty excited about the prospect of making Cobalt a reborn mining town. If there ever was a mining town that deserved a second chance, it is Cobalt Ontario.

@9:22 that uranium looks like limestone to me. Again I wished that you might slow down while we look at the specimens. Also. folks can pause videos on signs and read them if you take a little time recording these.
