Mining VS Farming The Ultimate Comparison (Hypixel Skyblock) 

Thing is farming is so brain dead that you can watch a movie and farm for 5h straight. While mining needs you to focus much more and therefore you make more money. For me farming takes the win

*Farming* Pros: 1. Easier to get into 2. Linear progression (you become gradually better) 3. No need for a setup once farm has been built once 4. No brain power needed (can watch youtube/anime) 5. Cheaper by a few 100 mil 6. Some aspect of "gamble" from visitors, pests and more (dopamine) Cons: 1. No way to farm "better" (more actively) after maxing everything. You're stuck at your $/h *Mining* Pros: 1. 25m-30m/h at 4m/4m with 655 and 40-60m/h maxed (as far as I can tell) 2. Cole Cons: 1. Need to make setup each time or buy fairy grotto 2. Takes many hours before you even start making money, especially if you dont already have 500m-1000m laying around waiting to be spent on drills, armor and pets. 3. Except for powder you jump very much in progression. (I made 5m/h, sold G-drag to get 655 + scatha and now make 30-40m/h at 4m/5m) 4. Repetitive 5. Can't turn off brain completely if you want to be efficient Overall: If you don't mind grinding and "actively" making your money + you care about efficiency then mining is for you. You will make 1.5-3.5x (read on a 6 month old forum Maxed farming makes 16.5m/h) as much as a maxed farmer but will hate yourself in that time If you don't mind spending more time semi-afk while doing something else you will probably like farming

12:22 would definitly go for farming cus mining 5b coins is gonna take ages, a bit less time than farming but when farming you can almost fully focus on a youtube video or anime

You can use the pest repellents for farming. although it only delays the spawnrates, 1 legendary visitor give you at lest 6 of the highest tier repellent.

I have dabbled a little in both farming and mining (100mil cane, 150mil wart, 400mil gem collection) Farming pros: Way more braindead WAY easier to get into (like wtf) Higher m/h floor (basically you can't not make money farming with a simple setup) cons: Lower m/h No bullshit fuck-you mayor that doubles your profit for 6h straight (fiestas are so broken) MINING!!!!! pros: insanely high m/h ceiling (2nd highest in the game that doesn't rely on being smart / kuudra) has high skill ceiling yes bullshit fuck-you mayor that doubles your profit for 6h straight (i'm serious fiestas are so broken) cons: insanely expensive (generally 2-3x the baseline amount to start off) progression is very intricate / more effort to keep track of your progress (hotm tree, powder, gear, gemstones, drill parts, mining tools, mining armor) needs setup (can take up to 1h if your getting griefed hard by structures, can take way longer if you're using public routes) you need to pay attention to your screen to mine properly me personally? i prefer mining over farming, but i've been an avid farmer before (got to 100mil cane collection before garden) so i think i know what i'm talking about. ultimately, i suggest getting farming initially, then start mining (you can sell your farming setup but it's optional)

alternatively, you can go obsidian grinding which is basically farming but 30m/h

dont forget that mining is more ping-based than farming, if you have high ping you wont make much money from it and farming makes 3 times less money but its almost afk.

The thing i hate the most about farming is that if you wanna be efficient you have to ruin the beauty of the garden and dig to bedrock to make horrible looking designs

Dont stick to mining for the entirety of ur life, tho its much better than farming, id say mine like 3b ish coins aka 200 ish hours if starting from scratch, then get into kuudra/m7 and sell your setup. Mining sucks as there is no rng kuudra makes an insane amount of money even if your at burning tier. FUCK FARMING.

farming got robbed in the cheapness category u will never use all crops best tools ever for gold tickets because there are 3 contest at once so u don't need one for all 3 u would only need the one.

mining is super easy to get into took me under 3 weeks on a fresh profile to be making 25m/h then not long after that had a 655 and was making 35-40m/h, I can watch subbed anime while mining its a super easy braindead money making method. However, for the effort and cost you put in to make like 10-15m/h on farming you can do so many other easy methods to make that, treasure hoarders make more than 10m/h, takes like 20 hours to max the rift and make 20m/h I mean damn arachne makes like 15m/h and those are all next to 0 cost. Mining > farming any day farming just doesnt make enough
