This may be an unpopular opinion here. I am a native New Yorker and growing up, I never knew this even existed. Maybe I need to head to the South but besides the lack of exposure, I appreciate the athleticism that these young dancers are demonstrating. I appreciate the lessons they are learning about patience, dedication, and the importance of practicing to perfect one's technique. These are all lessons that will become life skills. What I don't appreciate is the suggestive dancing or routines. It's bad enough that young girls are sexualized by society with this push to grow up faster than one's years. I truly believe the dance routines should reflect the children's ages since they are just that: Children.
I was considered a majorette. Our dancing was more ballet based. We also used equipment such as batons, fire batons, glow stick batons, sabers, small flags, and rifles. I also coached young majorettes and never taught them moves such as shown. They were beginners, so they learned basic techniques in the use of ballet and baton twirling. I guess it depends on the region. 🤷♀️
These children are being debased and uglified. It's gross. There's no musicality, no grace, no loveliness. It's uncouth, ungainly, animalistic. Horrible thing to do to young girls, or anyone.
The confidence level of these young athletes is tremendous! I may not agree with everything I see, but I know they are hardworking and I respect that. I do wish however they were having more fun, most of them look like they're worrying about mistakes. That's something they shouldn't have to worry about - just have fun kiddos! Life is hard enough without worrying about a misstep.
i really enjoy watching these types of dances when the choreography is more heavily focused on traditional African style dances. but the intense twerking and "dog peeing on a fire hydrant" move could probably be left out. also if they worked more on technique and staying together in their counts i think it would be much more effective and visually interesting. that said, i realize most of these girls are still babies and of course are not gonna be solid on technique and togetherness. i'm referring more to the older girls. also id like to see some batons or flags or glow sticks incorporated like in traditional majorettes! the energy and attitude is great though!
I am no expert on this topic, but you might check out videos on “Traditional African Dance”. There are hundreds of these dances because there are so many different tribes, but it looks to me like 75% of them involve the movement that we here call “twerking”. Buttock shaking is an art form there. They even add fringe and feather-like things to their backsides to draw all eyes to the movement. Have been doing it for centuries. So I think we need to be real careful here. If a dancer is using that movement to grind against another person’s crotch - like Miley Cyrus - or some other sexual context - then it’s inappropriate. But here all I see is traditional art. And I don’t know how they would ever learn it if they did not start as children.
I am delighted to inform you that most cultures absolutely have "sexualized" dances as their cultural norm, regardless of age, and using the morality of whitewashed purity culture to judge this content is on the audience, not the performers or their coaches.
Its great to compete….its great to learn dance and discipline…..but this is really inappropriate for such young girls…..seems like all they are doing is spreading their legs and gyrating! Its not nice to see!
It’s called bucking and it’s apart of black culture. We’re not going to stop doing things apart of our culture just because people like you sexualize it.
I think they are amazing and I am sure they work very hard. I personally think anything kids can do to have goals and positive things I say I am All for that. This is a style of dancing if you go to any hip hop or just where people dance young and old you will see dancers doing these same moves. 👍👍👍✌️✌️✌️🥰👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏👏👏👏👏👏
Hi! I just wanted to share :). Death is approaching for everyone; except we don't know when it is our time! Your spirit is what lives forever although the body dies! Will your spirit be with God or away from Him? Just sharing the good news :) Do you know Jesus Christ? We are all sinners, with sin there is punishment from God because His holiness requires a response to evil. You cannot bribe God with your “good works.” You only stand before Him (the judge) for your sins as in all court cases. Good news is that Jesus paid the punishment for the whole world's sins, He died, and rose from the dead on the 3rd day. you are ONLY forgiven and saved by putting faith in Jesus Christ for salvation. You are loved and wanted by Him who paid the debt for you :)
I see a lot of comments here about “sexualized moves”, but frankly, I don’t see it so much. I see no flirtation. I see nothing sexy here except in the mind of the viewer. Instead, I see “ethno dancing”, with steady drum beats, and bodies moving in every conceivable way to those beats, with great energy, stamina, discipline, and flexibility. This is healthy exercise with a bit of competition thrown in to spice it up. Looks to me like good training for Mardi Gras parades. But I cringe at some of the so-called “sassy” moves I see on “Dance Mom” -type contests. Or “Toddler & Tiaras” productions. Things that to me seem like they are inviting sexual predators. I do not see such things here.
@@a.z.a5673 Sorry, I don’t see anything sexy or inviting about those brief muscle isolation movements. I see talent. You apparently see something obscene. Different minds, differing perceptions.
@@margaretford1011 i don't see anything inviting since they're kids. Even dance moms and toddlers and tiaras were not "inviting". I see parents allowing and cheering on their kids to do moves and actions that they themselves have sexualized. The style of dance is fine. It's those time stamps where i feel that the kids are imitating adults in an inappropriate way.
My favorite comment, these young ladies are being attacked for no reason, a lot of these comments are just lies, if they were true this performance would not have been allowed to happen, but it was a packed house supporting teams of very talented young ladies
The babies be killing what ? Innocent bodies , that wholesome & Jesus Christ , has to leave his Temple. Your right , the spirit spoke right through you. Out of the aboundance of the heart , the mouth Speaks , in the Book of Luke in the Bible read , it . 1 Corinthians 6. 🙏🙏🙏🙏✝️✝️✝️✝️✝️☠☠☠☠😭😭😭😭😭 We are in Spiritual battle & the Bible shows how to see in the spiritual Realm & how Jesus opperates & also When you are not under his covering There are consequences. You better start reading Proverbs for the wisdom & strength.
I am a Nurse with life long injuries that cause me great pain. Seeing these Young Ladies jump up and land on their lower backs, legs spread on a very hard floor, makes me want to yell. I am not sure why this is being encouraged. This may look "good" for a competition but in years to come when they can't walk correctly, sit, lay down due to pain r/t blown disks, Annular tears etc they should look back to this. Plus they do not seem to know their routines very well. They have to keep looking at each other for ques as to what to do. Maybe if they took less time trying to make them "sexy" and more time teaching them to dance it would go better
It's shocking to see them landing on their backs/butts. That is absolutely not okay. I agree with everything you said. The kids would be awesome if the parents and coaches had some sense.
There's nothing wrong with what they are doing and at least they are involved in a competitive activity instead of being grown and do your research on majorette cause clearly you know nothing about it.
Was it the same song/music for each dance!? My goodness the music sounded all the same. Some of the moves were unbelievable but I must say these are young girls and should be conducting themselves as such.
What’s the saying?????? Oh yea They get it from their mommas. The biggest fans screaming and clapping at all the moves. 😆 Leading to same o same o. You can’t get mad Cas it’s true… young grandmas, prego, older men looking at them like sex objects. Etc.
What church? Hope no church would want this performance. If there is a pastor that would allow it. I would question his credentials. I do get what your saying. I do wish them well as they grow-up into young woman but Read stories a lot of grown adults minds are not rite. Protect your your children. Not sure if this is right or wrong, it scary
I know a lot will disagree with me but theses are beautiful young girls dancing as if for strippers….I know they want to win, and be popular and keep up with the times…but oh let them be kids…we have totally over sexualized our children😭😭😭😩😩😩they are precious and then we wonder why in the world we have so many unwanted pregnancies….my heartbreaks….
@@ImaniDR I don't understand what you are getting at. Other than, in a part of Africa (As it is more than just one country) this dance was called clown dancing. I was referring to the root of these dances being from brown and yellow people around the world. Not so much the pale faces from the north.
Right and why r they sexualizing kids literally nothing is wrong with the way they dance its culture i bet if it was some white kids doin this it wouldn’t be sexualized🤷🏾♀️
More racists! They're like a gift that just keeps on giving. Find us a ALL white girl dance team where little white girls are dancing like this? Come on, I'll wait. It's disgusting and most of these little girls will be pregnant by the time they're 13. These little girls ain't got no daddy cause if they did, they sure as hell wouldn't be dancing like that.
I'm not white. The crotch humping isn't necessary. Or at least the person recording should make sure never to record them from the front while doing that.
The only thing g that need to be banned is ur acc nothing wrong wit it have u heard of majorette it’s majorette now say sum else and we gonna have a problem it’s there style now stick to ur own style
I love the talent but do we have to sexualize out young lady's. They already have a tough world to maneuver. I would feel uncomfortable I my child danced like this
