LOVE shooting the mini shells! I have a Mossberg 590 Retrograde, 590 Shockwave and a Maverick 88 and use the adapter in all of them. I have never had a malfunction! As fast as you can feed them the Mossberg's just eat them up, this includes Aguila, Federal and the Challenger brands. Great information, and get yourself a darn Shockwave! :D
I used these and another brand of mini's in my 12 gauge side by side with no problems. Nothing to jam up and get a lot more fun with them. Good range fun and no shoulder gripes. Keep up the videos.
I'm Kenneth Edward Barnes, I'm an outdoor writer and have many books of several genres on Amazon. I have an article about the mini shells in my book Barnestorming the Outdoors: Revised edition. I had no problem cycling the mini shells in a Remington 870 pump. I like them in a single shot. The recoil is light and often you do not need a large shell for pests or target practice.
They seem to be all disappearing, then again humanity itself is what I described. Not to go too much into it, but an alarming number of kids born these days (mainly after millennial tho we have ours) simple have ZERO internal dialog. No devil & angel depicted as a child the basics of morality. They can't picture things in their mind. Some are normal, the rest...the pass for humans. Spiritual imo, dark times. Stay safe regular old guy, hope to be one possibly in the future.
Iv got a an older mossberg 500 and i got the adapter for those mini shells and bought a ton of em from cabelas a few years back when they had a few on clearance. Its great hold 9 instead of 5
Price vs power vs function equals no. Yes you can install an adapter and it works very very good but still due to the shortness of the shell it is anything but reliable at least for self defence, (plenty good for hunting though and definitely great for plinking). Again I don’t have any experience with the Shockwave which apparently shoots these well. And as far as recoil, they do make low recoil shells that are typically cheaper then standard loading and definitely cheaper then Agulia. I do have several boxes and don’t feel let down or ripped off, and shoot them once in a while, (I bought them for 3 gun so I could heavy load my gun, but have since gone back to 2.75” for reliability and yes I had/have and adaptor.)
I know the Mossburg shotguns shoot them good. Its the way the loading port is designed on them. You can also get an adapter for the Mossburg's that shortens the length of the port to help reliable feeding. The mini shells would be great for home defense if you have a shotgun that runs them reliably. Great video as always, Showing that all shotguns wont shoot these mini shells the same is good info for sure! Single and double barrel shot guns will shoot them just fine, I am curious if a bolt action shot gun would work with them. I have one, but mine is mag fed and the mag is broken so I cant find out. Maybe a video idea for you, Bolt action shotguns and mini shells.
I'm surprised it worked in the shockwave. Still wouldn't trust them in a defensive situation. I would seriously limit those to a single shot shotgun... target shooting only. Also, I believe they sell an adapter to help the rounds cycle in pumps... some Opsol adapter. Great video.
Dang man I wanted to see you pump the action to eject and reload all in one strong, fluid motion. I know with my old Mossberg, I sometimes have issues if I use a double action (so to speak) with a stoppage as opposed to just one straight up pump back and forth to quickly eject and reload. I dunno, maybe its just all in my head, but I'm pretty sure the only time I have loading issues is when it's not all on fluid back and forth motion. ...450 bushmaster
They run great in my 870 which is labeled for 2 3/4 , and also 1 3/4 for my 18.5 barrel and will not work reliably in the 28” barrel which is labeled for. 2 3/4 and 3 1/2 magnum shells. I also have a +2 extension so I can fit 6+1 for 2 3/4 or 10 +1 for 1 3/4 mini shells.
Same issue with My Pardner N.F 12 g pump. Just picked up a Box for 5$ at Walmart during our Nations pandemic and Dry Cycled and Had Miss Feed after missfeed. So just gonna add these to my Horde and Keep for SHTF . Great Vid and may GOD BLESS AMERICA during thisoutbreak
Late seeing this one bud, but want to let ya know I run the Aguila Mini shells in a Keltec KS-7 with no issues. It holds 12 plus 1, but other brands with rolled ends instead of crimped are a little longer and it holds one less. Keep up the good work my friend!
Don’t see the point in these. Gain four rds and lose all reliability. The shell are probably great for their intended purpose but at the price point they are not viable to me. Just a guess but I imagine most home defense with a shotgun can be handled with five shots of 00 buck shot. Especially if you add to that the ability to top off the shells as you go. Less power, weapon specific, and higher cost make this rd a no go for me.
Your experience mimics mine. I tried 4 shotguns to get them to feed reliably. A.1100, 870, M-3, and M-2. No luck. If you have a single shot or double barrel laying around for critter control, they may make sense. I'm not buying a inferior shotgun with a funky adapter to get these to work though. Nope.
I bought my Mossberg during the current panic. It was a good excuse to finally getting around to buying a gun. Anyhow, because of the panic, ammo was scarce. All the shop could offer me was a box of Federal shorties. That gives me 10 slugs to play with. I also got the Opsol spacer. Obviously, I haven't tried them since I don't have much ammo to throw away right now. But I'd be curious to see how other short shells compared to the Aguillas. Seems one advantage to these is that they tend to be available because they aren't popular.
Little late to the party here but just picked up a security model maverick and cannot wait to fill the tube with some of those minis and test em out! Good work WHO!
okay good luck to you, i am in Florida and been many online sites trying to find the mini shells and i have had zero luck, if you know where i can find some of the minis please let me know thanks
I keep 3 inch 00 in my pump. No mini shells for me, they would be fine in a break action for playing around. My first choice for the house isn't my shotgun, it only has a trigger saftey. Keeping one chambered is asking for a hole in the ceiling. 😂😂 Thank You Sir!!
I love them. Next to no recoil. Wish that the full sized ones felt the same, then I could shoot all day and not be bruised the next. They work in my Stevens 320 pump shotgun. I did notice that if you tilt the gun to the side a little bit it aids in loading.
Hello but what differ the chock wave from other pomp. They are both have the same space for the cartridge to enter as I think. But maybe it differ between magnum shotgun and normal one maybe the chock wave you tried wasn't magnum or something.
Weird how they wouldn't feed you, my 870 the bottom part comes up as the action goes forward and have no problem cycling these but from memory my 870 only is 7+1 with the short shells
Paul harrell already tried them and thats why i knew but he didnt try your gun so still a good video. I am interested in what shot guns they do work in and if they make a slug version. I have a winchester sxp and for the price its actually a really nice gun but i have no idea if those will work for it and i have never seen them in a store.
I just went and watched his second video on the mini shells and yes they do make a slug and also a buck shot. If you havent already i highly suggest checking paul harrells chanle out.
These work every time in my KSG, and it holds 24 rounds! Also I will have problems with ejecting and feeding if I rack the slide as softly as you did. That KSG likes to be racked with authority.
I have a Serbu Super Shorty 12ga and a Shockwave. I have a bunch of these shells that will run almost perfectly with the OpSol mini adapter. I bought them for a home defense round and something my boys can shoot easier. I have seen some penetration test with those shells that are less than impressive. I think if you have a Mossberg and the mini adapter they are quite reliable.
A question...if you have seen penetration tests with this ammo and the results were less than impressive, why still use it for defence? As far as kids, get them started on a .410 or 20 gauge.
@@MattP-BandB Agreed. I bought the ammo before seeing the test. We have plenty of 22s and 410s. It was something that looked neat and fun at the time. They still are fun. I would not use a 22 or 410 for home defense either unless it is all I had. Better than nothing. Luckily I have other options. One of my boys is now shooting just about all calibers of rifles, handguns and shotguns now and the harder the kick the bigger he smiles lol.
@@Just_The_Average_Dude Awesome brother. Glad to hear that you're fostering love and respect for firearms in your kids. I am trying to do the same. My 8 yr old son took no convincing. My 10 yr old daughter now also enjoys " making things go Boom " as she puts it. Ah, life is grand.
There’s another reason there good if you use them in a shockwave. I believe a shockwave only holds 3 shells max I believe, correct me if I’m wrong. But someone said you could get as many as 5 of those mini shells in a shockwave.
You haft. To have that adapted made for mossberg shotgun mossberg has no shell guide it is open where you put the adapter. And it just takes a second to put it in.and to take it out.
The flat lifter and action timing is not right with any Turkish made shotguns like your Weatherby that I have tried with the mini shells. The Remington 870 and good clones seem to function just fine in my experience. The Mossbergs need an adapter to function reasonably reliable with them.
