Sport and Physical Activity Minister Carla Qualtrough discusses measures from Budget 2024 aimed at strengthening support for athletes and increasing participation in sport. She is joined at the news conference in Calgary by ministers Anita Anand (president of the Treasury Board) and Randy Boissonnault (employment), Calgary Skyview MP George Chahal, Canadian bobsledder Cynthia Appiah, and former Canadian Olympic gold medalist Catriona Le May Doan.
The participants then take questions from reporters. Minister Qualtrough discusses funding levels for the Canadian Olympic Committee, and MP Chahal is asked about his calls for a national caucus meeting following the Liberals surprise loss in the recent Toronto-St. Paul's byelection.
