I love this song, the singer is guest vocalist Gibby Haynes of the Butthole Surfers who are also brilliant.

One of my favorite songs to drive to. Which is why I don't drive anymore. Vocals by the almighty Gibby Haynes, whose Butthole Surfers put on the greatest live shows of the Eighties. According to legend, Al asked Gibby to do vocals for this one. Gibby showed up already smashed, with a bottle of whiskey, sat in front of the microphone and puked. After a bit of cleaning up, Gibby delivered the vocal track off the top of his head. Inspiration comes in the strangest forms.

Ministry went from synth pop to industrial to metal, with touches of a few other genres mixed in. A very cool track to check out (and a spin-off of the track Just One Fix) is the b-side Quick Fix also featuring narration/poetry from William S. Burroughs. Other essential Ministry tunes: Thieves, Over the Shoulder, You Know What You Are.

One of the interesting things about this song is that Al Jorgensen once said that Ministry doesn't really do guitar solos often because a solo generally acts as a release of tension after the build up during a song and he wanted listeners to feel the tension. This song is basically on long guitar solo that continuously builds tension and the only release is in the moments without it. It's ass backwards. Pure genius.

As others have said they started as synth pop. Their debut is actually considered a synth pop classic by fans of the genre. The second album Twitch industrial sounds started to creep in but it’s still more dance than metal. Third album The land of Rape and Honey saw the industrial sound really take over and by the time this album came out full on industrial metal.

I disagree with other posters that this is significantly different from their other stuff. I would suggest that the whole of the Psalm 69 album is very much in this style (except for the different vocalist) and that it's well worth a listen/purchase if 'Jesus' floated your boat. I particularly recommend the title track, 'NWO' and 'Just One Fix'. Other albums do vary however. I'm happy with the 'industrial metal' tag though some acts are more industrial and others more metal.

Give "Twitch" a try. It's their transition album, if you will. They were super synth heavy, and just figuring out what kind of Industrial they wanted to be. They got pretty guitar heavy after that, IMO.

Gibby's been name checked already, but you should follow this up with Butthole Surfers' "Some Dispute over T-Shirt Sales" which uses the same lyrics (ha!) but Gibby flies further off the handle on the delivery and it's great. He kinda sounds bored in this version when compared.

This track is a mix of psychobilly (rockabilly + punk rock) and industrial metal. It's frenetic but also quite messy. Ministry (and consequently Al Jourgensen) is a difficult animal to apprehend, the band's music having changed a lot since their debut in 81. It started with post-punk and new wave/synth-pop then with electro-industrial dance music then industrial rock and industrial metal. Al Jourgensen doesn't want to hear any more about his new-wave debut and disavows everything he did prior to their third album ! Justin, you could try digging around their 80s discography to see how it all started. For example, take "Cold Life" (the B-side of their '81 debut single "I'm Falling"), it's icy new wave mixed with funky bass and horns. That's where I heard them for the first time ! Then try "Revenge" or "She's Got a Cause" (on their debut album With Sympathy in 82/83), it's pure synth-pop from that era. After that, listen to "Over the Shoulder" (from their second Twitch album in 85/86). It's electro body music like Front 242, DAF or Die Krupps. Then it evolves towards industrial rock on "Stigmata" (from their third album The Land of Rape and Honey in 88). Finish with the industrial metal of "Burning Inside" (from their fourth album The Mind Is a Terrible Thing to Taste in 89).

Do not listen to this song while driving. Instant speeding ticket! You aren't going to find much of a deep meaning with this track, its just a fun silly track with guest vocals from Gibby Haynes from the Butthole Surfers Ministry does have much better songs if you wish to dig in deep, or you can start looking into the dozens of ministry side projects (there really are too many to count) I would say some other songs to get you into to Ministry would be: "So What", "Thieves", "Burning Inside", "Stigmata", "Just One Fix" or "New World Order" If you want to hear something very different, check out some of the tracks off their FIRST album "With Sympathy" where they were a cheezy synthpop band

OMG! I can't believe you are doing this crazy song. Instant click. "Mainly Jesus... and my hotrod" I love Ministry and this romp with Gibby Haynes of Butthole Surfers is so cool. This sing is a simple repetitive riff but the beat is just infectious. My favorite industrial band. I love Al Jourgensen's guitar riffs. He is rather interesting to watch. But Ministry is an acquired taste I guess.

YES!! One of the greatest industrial metal bands!! Honestly not the greatest starting point by any stretch of the imagination for Ministry. I’d start with their mid-late 80s output. “The Land of Rape and Honey & “The Mind is a Terrible Thing to Taste” are classic masterpieces within the industrial genre. I think you’ll honestly digest it better

I wasn't overly impressed by this little ditty. A fast repetitive riff, and a couple of ok solo-ettes thrown in. Not a whole lot going on to keep me interested. And if this is 'industrial', it's not the type i remember of old. The industrial i remember sounded like a band who'd recorded their album in a working foundary/metalwork factory. I wanna say early Deutsch Amerikanische Freundschaft (DAF), but my memory maybe playing tricks on me.
