Agree! I have this van, and no matter how many problems I may have to fix on it and do so, they don't make me want to switch to another vehicle at all.

My parents had one and it was amazing. Smooth and comfortable all the time and great in the snow. One downside was you can't change the rear spark plugs, dealer has to. I think they drop the engine to get to all the rear plugs.

They change the spark plugs from underneath on a lift I take off my exhaust makes it easier

Wow, its exceptionally clean for an almost 15 year old car. 2005 was the last year for this version of the Montana, 2006 for the Montana SV6. Solid vans, and they're actually pretty enjoyable to drive! Pretty well designed for their time too, minus their offset crash test results. My mom had a 1998 Oldsmobile Silhouette, same car basically as this, and it was by far one of my favorite vehicles we've ever owned. It had leather, captain's chairs, beautiful green paint, it was slick for a minivan and got tons of compliments. She also had a blue 2006 Buick Terraza, which was the "revised" version of these original 90's vans (like the SV6). It was real nice too and fully loaded with nearly everything, even a DVD player, but it wasn't particularly reliable OR as enjoyable to drive... Btw, I absolutely LOVE the little music that plays when the power sliding doors close on these older vans! They didn't do that anymore on the Terraza, Uplander, Relay and Montana SV6. Its a unique little touch, haha. Man, talk about great memories and good times.

I had a 2002 Montana in Maroon and the trans and engine both went at 100,000 miles also had a 1999 venture engine blew at 100,000 miles.

Wow, my mother's Silhouette died on us once at night on the way taking it in for service (ironically). And we did have to have the brakes on it replaced frequently I recall. But otherwise, it drove decently for her while she had it. She got rid of it before it got 100,000 miles on it if I remember right. But now the Terraza was the one that had REALLY bad problems, and it DID have over 100,000 miles on it by the time we traded it. Weak alternator made the exterior and interior lights always flicker, rear parking aid didn't work, power sliding doors were finicky, rough and noisy ride (for a Buick), couldn't park it on a hill because the fuel level would change so drastically it wouldn't start sometimes, had to crank it more than once to start occasionally, made weird noises during some turns (AWD acting up), passenger heated seat died, rear wiper died... Yeah, the later versions of these vans were definitely duds. Not that the earlier versions were perfect either. Probably part of the reason why GM left this market entirely.

MHASSANF I likes early 2000’s minivans. They had column shifters, a space in the middle up front to pass. They also looked like minivans! These montanas were cool.

I still see them all the time, just as much as the Chrysler vans from this era. Although most of them are in poor condition and running on prayers. Still easier to find these vans in better condition than Chryslers in the Midwest.

As of December 2022, I still see many examples of these 2nd gen U body vans here in the Midwest. Most are the Venture, but I do see some Trans Sport/Montana vans and the occasional Silhouette. Somebody in my apartment complex has a Chevy Venture Warner Brothers Edition in silver, I used to see it every day before they moved out a week ago. I've always loved these vans.

We have one but just got a new ford expedition and love it. Our van has over 200.013 miles on it and still has the original tran and engine. Rides smooth and is comfortable. The only thing we've.changed is the starter and shifter cable. Bit a coyote I. It and busted the front passenger plastic off and bent the fender and hood. Had it fixed. My mom and dad also love this car. We have had it sense brand new in 2003. Will miss that car when it's gone.

BarsLeak Copper Seal fixed my Intake manifold leak--you know, the mysterious coolant loss. Well not mysterious, it was in the oil (mayonnaise looking oil fill cap) and seeping out front and back side of intake.

I had tgis van with the 3.4l it was nothing but problem up till the point the head gasket blew and cracked the block

Tends to happen when you overheat any car, Bet you never changed the coolant did ya? Maintenance tends to be cheaper than blowing up engines. To crack a iorn block you overheated the hell out of it. But we get it its a POS cause of your neglect.

When I was younger my mom had a maroon version. I loved it so much. But when we got rid of it we got scammed. We got a 2011 Dodge Grand Caravan that was complete garbage. When we came back to the dealer to pick it up we saw our old van for only 100$ and we payed 2000 to get rid of it. We just got rid of that crappy grand caravan and now have a 2017 Chevy Eqanox.(Sorry if I spelled it wrong)

Mine is a same model year, yet it has manual slider doors and the middle row was just two seats then the 3 in the back. Very good van though.

The power sliding door was probably just disabled like it is on my Montana. Pretty sure it was standard in the Olds version of this van.

it will fall apart soon enough. engine is good & will last but everything else will be trash. tust me. I'd never buy one again. don't call this guy. he's full of crap!!!!!
