You’re never supposed to run any trolling motor or outboard when not in the water.

What about the lock screen feature? Don’t you have to depress that button for three seconds to unlock the remote screen so that it will accept your commands?

I have had this trolling motor for almost 2 years now and love it but I can't figure out what that damn R is for. and the book I got with it got wet before I could read it. but here in the last couple months it has just taken off and turned right until it has pulled the cord out of it. not sure if i'm going to spend anymore money on it I might just buy another one. but $2000 every few years hurts the pocket book. and I would love to know where I can get one for $1200

You can download the quick reference guide right off of Minnkota's website. It is very unfortunate to hear that your motor was giving you those problems. If a we or a customer have any issues with a Minnkota, we always outsource to "The Electric Fisherman" is Moses Lake, WA. He knows the motors in & out and would be able to let you know your best route. Good Luck!

I built my own wireless remote steering on a cheap Endura motor! I haven't figured out how to make it GPS spot lock, though.

After having minn kota trolling motors for nearly 20 years I’ve seen a lot of improvement. The control is not of them. Firstly it needs something on the controller that indicates motor orientation so if my line of sight is blocked I’m not flying blind. Secondly I use the motor to move along slowly casting at fallen timber. If it’s windy I quite often have to make adjustment to the speed or heading as I’m retrieving my lure. Try snd see how you go steering and adjusting the speed without looking at the control. There’s like 20 buttons that all feel the same that are either never or rarely used cluttering the face. Why not have a jog wheel for speed and 2 large buttons to steer either side of the propeller on off button. Have the anchor in a easy spot as well and then get all the other crap away from the control buttons. Now I’m not pausing my retrieve to look down and see the control is backwards. Spin it around then look closely to find the button or inadvertently hit the wrong button. I can easily manoeuvre the boat while I fish and even mid fight without searching for a button. Even a PlayStation controller would be better than trying to control the boat with essentially a crap tv remote control

There is a learn button on the head of an iPilot bow mount. Turn the remote control on and hit learn. The system will sync up and you are ready to go.

This can't be easier than using a pedal. Having to use your hands to control the boat while fishing to me is silly.

Well, with the autopilot, you don't have to constantly steer the boat. You point it in the direction you want to go, turn the cruise control feature on, and let the motor do the rest. A foot pedal is nice for those who are experienced with it, but not as easy as this controller.

But this allows you to fish from the back of the boat too if you want. Even launching th boat is made easy. Launch the boat, deploy the motor and spot lock it while you park the tow vehicle.

IMO, The foot pedal is way worse. You Have to be sitting or standing in a particular position, if you're standing your foot and ankle dont feel normal as you try to balance and control the boat while waves are crashing, boats swaying etc... idiots go flying past you when you're not ready or whatever and then the pedal controls themselves suck compared to the wireless remote. The remote ensures the Captain or driver never to be sitting in one spot or having to move the pedal and wire around. He/She can be steering while doing anything on board. Complete pain in the Arse compared to the remote. If you don't have the remote, i highly suggest you get it. 😏 Lets see you step off the boat and onto the dock and try moving your boat away from the dock using the pedal. That doesn't make sense but the remote will control the boat away from dock while you're retrieving your truck and trailer.
