Google spring loaded plunger! It’ll pull release but keep tension on plunger through the hole in base. You’ll pull to slide instead of unscrewing knob screw.
That sounds like a really good idea. I currently have a floating keychain in the screw, which isn't ideal, not to mention a spring loaded release would be quick. But I'm having trouble picturing how it would work? The threads are currently on the inner bracket. The outer bracket is just a hole the screw goes threw. If you tapped a new hole, I wonder if just the plunger would be tight enough to keep it from rattling? The screw tightens it up as well as keeps it in place. curious what your thoughts are?
The quick release bracket serves 2 purposes. First you can quickly remove the trolling motor if your storing your boat outside either at a hotel if your traveling or if you store it outside at home (Theft). Secondly, And the reason I have it, sometimes when launching the boat on a shallow ramp the boat drops a little and the trolling motor can hit the front guide of the trailer. with this specific quick release bracket you can push it back when launching in shallow water and then push it back into position when your done. IMO it also make the install easier too, installing a bracket instead of a heavy trolling motor.
I was hoping to use the old holes but I had to put in new ones. Some of the old holes aren't even covered by the new trolling motor. I filled them with black jb weld and Im going to cover them with gator grip pad to hide them even more
I have a minn Kota edge 45lb thrust jus like this one but hand controlled will this same quick release work for mine as well jus got it and didn’t put on yet
You drilled and tapped new holes in the plate that attaches to the motor? So the motor can stay on the boat but be positioned flush with the bow when not in use or when running a cover over your boat on a long trip?
If i remember correctly. I think its in the video, but I believe I used the bolts that came with the Terrova instead of the Bolts that came with the Mounting bracket because they were a higher grade of Stainless. I could tell by the color of the bolts and the bracket bolts were magnetic while the Terrova bolts were not. They were all the same size and included with each product. I made a tool for putting the nuts on the bolts.
It's adjustable. For the Terrova I have it is 12.5" x 8". The front would be a little narrower since the front piece slides into the rear piece that is 8" wide. but the front left corner is off the boat anyways so that width doesn't matter. I believe the length is infinitely adjustable but Im not sure what the max would be. The minimum length would be 10" the size of the rear plate
