The wait is finally over, we have picked up the new boat and put it into service. What boat did we choose? We decided to go with an Avid 23 FS. Come take a look and see why we chose this boat to run our trips in. I decided on a Minn Kota Terrova for a trolling motor. Whats the BEST way to run the transducer cable on the trolling motor? Ill show you my setup. When you depend on a boat to make a living what would be your boat of choice? Fiberglass or Aluminum? Which brand, choice would you make? We talk about the the reasons for our choice in the video!

Thanks for watching and trying it out. I haven't had any issues with mine since install and the added bonus of protection for the cable has saved me countless times!

Great video but why did you pick 3/8 size hose? The hard plastic is not gonna work I found 3/8 rubberized hose but it seems awful thick so why did you pick that hose if the transducer cable isn’t that thick?

If I could do it again I would choose a slightly bigger size so when inserting the cable it's not such a pain in the *** 😂. I bought it online and didn't get exactly what I was hoping for. Ultimately you need the hose to keep its coil shape to help "bounce" the cable back up and stay nicely organized around the shaft. The softer plastics don't have as much spring. But ultimately find what works best for your particular cable keeping in mind spring back and ease of cable insertion.

How did you cut the air hose. Im having a heck of a time trying to get a decent cut.

I used a utility blade. Doesn't have to be perfect just need to separate the hose so you can get cable in. I actually think it seals better if its cut with a natural spiral. Don't try to follow the "center" point. Hope that helps. I used electrical tape to keep it closed once cable is in place.

Man, I'm glad I found this. You just answered every problem this particular model has. I have the Riptide as well, and I've been fighting it from day 1, on a variety of levels including replacing the steering collar which is a horrible job. My transducer cable was cut in half because the cord hung down too low. Soldering all those internal wires back together was another horrific job. So, I'm making damn-sure I don't have to do, at least that much, ever again. After much searching, this video finally answers all my questions, and gives a very practical solution. But... *where did you get a recoil hose for under $20?!?! And, what sized eye bolts did you use?*

Thanks for watching and letting me know your experience. Purchased hose online, just found cheapest one I could, prob would go with a 3/8 coil ID the 1/4 was tough feeding cable. Picked up eyebolts at hardware store, just eyeballed size. Been a minute since I did the work so don't recall much specifics. But it has worked flawlessly!

@@basssoldiersfishing Yeah....just finished it up today, with the hardest part being those eyebolts. I'll have to rewatch the video to see where you put your eye-bolts, but I just used the two screws that hold that white housing on the black locking frame (one screw hole in each upper corner). *The size that worked for those were 1/4"X4, with the trick being to get a bolt with the eye hole big enough to accommodate the connector end of the transducer cord (1" roughly).* But, the driveway tests I've done have been perfect. So, I'll get it out on the water next week. But, I think you saved me a lot of headaches with this video. This TM has caused me enough issues...I didn't want to battle too much with this, as well. I also shortened the shaft, so when it's deployed it's not right in my casting wheel-house, which was one of the best things I've done with this motor. So, after a LOT of trial. error, mistakes, and spare parts, I think I'm finally good for this season. I'll have to replace that metal lift spring (which can get bent up if you ever have to disassemble it), but, like I said, I think this will get me through the season. I also put a pull string on mine, as well. I'm actually pondering doing away with that lift spring altogether, given the problems it causes, if you have to disassemble the unit. That part alone will put you in therapy. Anyway, I'm rambling....thanks a million, brother. If there's any tweaking left to be done it will be minor. *Fisherman like you are what keeps fisherman like me on the water. I'm grateful for that.*👍

Neat and clean way to run the wire. Where did you get the black air hose?

Thank you, it definitely helps protect the cable from pinching too. Ask me how I know 😂. I just found a cheap one on Amazon so didn't mind cutting it up
