I have a 3lbs line on my reel right now, would you recommend using a 3lbs line for lake trout?

Lake trout I would use 8-12lb line. Could catch anything from 2-15 pounds fairly easy I usually have 8lb tied up unless I’m gonna fish big trout. Gives you a little more feel and better jigging movement.
