I don't understand the 40 million loss. Over the past several years, the league averaged a $10 million loss. Ratings have skyrocketed this year and attendance is up 50%. How did they lose four times as much? Somebody is cooking books.

@@pastrocks85 Stewart plowed into a Lynx defender who was stationary with both feet on the floor and both arms extended straight up, and they called a foul on the defender. Then the official claimed after a video review that the defender wasn't in a legal guarding position, which was a joke.

Honesty here. There were bad calls both ways for 5 games. This series is no different from any other in any other sport. This happens because it's an unavoidable part of sports. To overturn a call there has to be indisputable evidence. Sorry but imo there was none because the back angle shows the defender was not set. Usually the refs in college men and women and the nba will way more times than not call a block/charge call, whereas other things they tend to let go. This was a great game by two great teams. Liberty fans can say this series should not have gone to a game 5 in the first place if the officiating is going to be debated. If it were me and my team I honestly would be more concerned with why we only scored 62 points in an OVERTIME game. That would be more alarming to me than any one bang bang call at the end. One team always loses and one team always wins. Unfortunately someone had to lose. I prefer to celebrate all the great stories that came out of the WNBA this season that seems to be building the league into the right upward direction. Congrats to the Lynx and the Liberty for a great finals series 🎉

@@yungtwiz Getting trucked? She caught the inbounds pass, ran over a stationary defender and was gifted free throws. The refs could have called an offensive foul, a travel, or they could have made a no call, but to call that a blocking foul and then claim the defender wasn't in a legal guarding position was a disgrace.

I didn’t watch the game because I knew it would wreck my nerves. But my Dad (who’s 98) was watching and I could hear him yelling at the TV! I’m a NY sports teams fan (Yankees, Giants😢, and Knicks). I don’t know what it is about NY teams but they seem to make us fans very nervous- they really keep us in the edge of our seats- we fans have to really “ride it out” to get to that win! I was pulling for the Liberty, but now that they have won, I feel bad for the Lynx. It was a David vs Goliath type of match up. The Lynx played so well. Great execution? Ionescu shot 1 for 20, Stewart was something like 4 for 15 and was gifted 2 free throws late on what should have been an offensive foul, seconds after she had just choked 2 free throws to tie the game. That game was absolutely brutal. I thought the WNBA quality of play had advanced more than that. Stewart just runs around smashing into people. She's supposed to be one of the stars of the league?

Not a travel. If you watch closely, Stewart catches the ball, takes three stutter steps, then shuffles her feet, changes direction, and then only takes three more steps before putting the ball on the court.

@@alexc.7868 I was a kid when it started. I LOVE BASKETBALL. On weekends I would watch BCAT(Public Access TV) on saturday mornings of kids playing ball. I've been clowned for decades for rockin with the WNBA. Never mattered to me. I've been rockin with the LIBERTY SINCE DAY 1. Kept watching through the Tara Phillips years. The Shameka Christon years. The Epiphanny Prince years (she is a New Yorker & was at the game). Now that I think about it, I saw her win a PSAL title at title at Madison Square Garden when she was in HS (My schools' boys teams had the next game). The Cappie Pondexter & Tina Charles years. Truth be told, I didn't rock with Brianna Stewart before she became a Liberty player because the USA team chose her over Candace Parker for the USA team in 2016 (I've been a huge CP fan). Long story LONG, I've been watching. I see you are watching now too. Otherwise you wouldn't be in the comment section.

Great game to end a great series between the two best teams in the league. Sabrina and Stewie had an off night, but made the plays they NEEDED to make, had plenty of help from the whole team, and at the end of the game they simply wanted it more. Congrats to the Liberty

That Minnesota Lynx vs The Connecticut Sun Semi finals series really took a toll on The Lynx when facing The New York Liberty in the Finals. New York Liberty Coach Sandy Brondello took her time and really studied that Lynx vs Sun series and applied her coaching to all five games in the finals. i know people will blame the refs but The Lynx was missing easy shots all night. Collier was 11-23, McBride was 7-13, Smith was 2-6, Williams was 2-14 & Carleton 1-6 from the field. Tough loss for Minnesota but congratulations to New York 💥🗽

It's because they were exhausted!! And the Lynx don't have a deep bench! So imagine they went a 5 game series with Connecticut Which isn't easy and then they go up against NY liberty and then get caught in multiple overtime games! They were cooked!! Courtney Williams is a warrior but you could see she didn't have the legs left to go an entire game with so much intensity. Lynx will have to develop their role players and develop their bench. But hats off to my NY liberty. NY hasn't won a championship in basketball in over 50 years!! And they did it for the City at a time when most NY teams are taking L's!!

@@mongoslade277but the Lynx lost a 15 point lead on their own. Also McBride had a wide open shot that she missed that could have won them the game. Courtney Williams ran out of gas so did Sabrina and Stewie. The difference was Fiebich, JJ, and Sabally. The most important thing that happened that no one is talking about is Liberty coach uno card-wild!!! No one was prepared for her all big lineup!!!Lynx couldn’t defend it. Everyone that was in for Liberty was 6’1 or taller. This was the true turning point of the game!

A perfect way to highlight the crooked officiating of a corrupt league. They didn't even have the guts to show the 'double travel' no foul against Breanna Stewart to send her to the free throw line to tie the game. The refs and the League commissioner need to be sacked because even NBA players were calling this a fixed game. And I say this as an Indiana Fever fan.

As I've said a number of times on this thread already, the officiating in game 4 was among the worst I've ever seen. NBA fan with no dog in this fight but the Lynx got literally every single call in that game. It was laughable. Obviously the W needed a game 5 in NY to help advance the league. If the officiating had been competent in game 4 the Liberty would have won the title that night. Not even disputable. Watch that video of that game. It was hilarious.

Jonquel Jones commits an offensive foul nearly every time she muscles her way in the post. Shoulders, elbows, etc.- no calls. The WNBA officiating is "officially" the worst in the history of basketball. When is Engelbert going to get fired?

I've watched a lot of WNBA. This Liberty team is one of the more entertaining champions. When the Lynx won 4 and the Aces won 2 it was a little meh. I did like the Candace Parker teams though but I'm a bigger Sabrina fan even when she struggles a bit it's entertaining. So this New York team is very fun to watch.
