Honestly it was so bland and unoriginal , a blue background with just a state seal , tho i will admit the new one is pretty basic , i Honestly preferes the design where there was a light blue , a white and a green stripe.

Quite literally a vexillological nightmare. Terrible design, illegible, and a classic case of seal on blue. Very often called the worst state flag in the Union. It was the perfect example of how not to design a flag.

@@EchoKilo-wi9ec Rule 1 of making flags: Keep it simple. A flag is a flag, not a note, not a postal card, not anything looked at up close. No tiny details! And the previous flag... Oh dear. The job of the flag is not to display as many symbols as it can, but to become a symbol of its own and be recognisable among other flags. If the name "Minnesota" were removed from the previous design, nobody would know which state it is - again, seal on blue, which proves that Minnesota's previous flag failed as a flag. You already have a state seal - why put it on your flag over a blue background? That's just like having two seals! Also, admittedly, this design only has two shades of blue, but the original chosen design was a much better tricolour. Not sure why they nerfed it so much, but it's still leagues better than the previous flag.

I personally love the new flag. Most of the old ones are genuinely terrible and ugly. The new emblem is also far superior. I had nothing against the old ones, but they're just ugly and outdated to me. There were so many other flag designs submitted, and many, many more were so damn epic that I'd have preferred to get the nod, but this one is still great looking as simplistic as it is.
