You did an awesome job with this cake! What size cake did you make? and how do you know how much fondant to make for a certain sized cake? And how do you know how big or thin to roll the fondant?
Thank you so much! This cake was four layers of an 8 inch round cake. As for rolling out the fondant, the thinner you roll it, the more bumps and lines it will show through from the buttercream layer. If it's really thin it will also stretch too easily as you try to lift it and lay over the cake. It's a bit of trial and error to see what works best for you but I would recommend erroring on the slightly thick than slightly too thin. As for how much fondant to make for any certain sized cake it's also been a lot of trial and error for me but I usually make 1 batch of fondant for a cake. If it's two tiers than I sometimes have to make another half batch or full batch.
