Beautiful Ken the bike could sell itself. Amazing there are still these survivors lurking in the sheds, garages and backyards of the U.S.

Nice looking Yamaha! I was anxiously waiting to see an AT1 125! I was a lucky kid and got a brand new 1971 AT1 for Christmas 1971! I was 12 years old. What a great memory. My dad had the 360 and we rode together a lot. Dad rode all his life and we were still riding together on dual sports until he passed away in 2010. I still ride and always will.

I had a 71 125 for my first bike, what a blast. You must have been stoked to get this for Christmas.

@@richardmorris7063 Yes! My dad even had a matching red solo seat installed so I could touch the ground better. The seat was from Steve Bakers personal flat track parts collection. Steve worked at the shop where my dad bought the bike. I mentioned the seat because Steve Baker later became the first 750 road racing world champion riding for Factory Yamaha racing team. I had his seat on my bike and never thought about that until now!

I LOVE it !!! I was born in 73'. We were meant to be together ;) But I'm afraid to see the price tag on this classic. Santa doesn't like me that much lol.

Those early 70s Yamahas were indestructible. I had a 1972 100 and 360, followed in 75 with the 400 enduro. Nothing about them to complain about.

Is that the one junior was ripping??? That thing is crazy beautiful .... Been making these things since the 70s and people still look at me like I'm crazy when they see me riding on the road legally... Blows my mind

I had a few of these starting w/ the 71 125 & up to the 73 250.I believe 72 was the first year for the reed valve.Smooth throttle response & perfect 50/50 road - trail. So cool!

Looks fun, dont believe your going to see any of today's electronic gems running in 50 years, if they can even legally turn them on. Got to raise that shifter a few splines, don't want to hang a tow in the whoops.

One of the reasons those are so rare, is that at least here in Oregon, they had all the lights and speedometer etc tore off, and they were actually raced on a motocross track. Not so much for those electric start models. I used to work on those at my job, and I've never seen a cleaner one than your example.

I was in the middle of moving after living there for 29 years. Only had 60 days to do it. I was definitely not looking at utube. Otherwise I would have bought this one. Six months earlier I tried my best to buy the same bike - year ,color but not quite as good of shape. I hounded the guy right up until the day we signed toe papers to sell. Still haven't found a new house. It seems that the house of our dreams is as elusive as my little BLUE 125, Red Zl900 and Blue2003 ZRX. Barber vintage days are coming up , so maby lighting will strike. Would be nice to see the Kaplins there.

Early dual sport bikes sweeet! From experience, with quality oils and simple maintenance they’ll run forever. Two stroke simplicity and light weight perfect for beginners but also fun pit type bike. But some didn’t come equipped with folding foot pegs. If not make them so. If foot gets caught in rut or root, rock, etc. it was murder on foot bones. Brake and shift foot pads as well though those would bend with less risk to foot. With folders the foot has better chance to swing back with lesser damage.

Hard to find a better do-it-all 2 smoker. Run the best synthetic oil. mostly smokeless once warmed up. I'm a bit nuts, but I run Amsoil Saber in every two-stroke. would need to be diluted first, to run in that oil system.

That looks exactly like my dads yamaha RX 100, but with motorcross elevated exhaust and more motorcross style rear fender and indicators. Rest of bike looks identical. Nice! I never heard of this model, but i know they had many similar.

Kaplan think it over very very carefully you are not going to be able to retire from the profit of this motorcycle but it may take spiritual profits to ever get one back. 1500 miles on this thing come on look at it it's the 125 Kaplan that's the camper special back in their day about every RV had one bungee cord to the rear bumper... That's for like when you pull your Winnebago into the camper Park pull out the awnings and the lawn chairs and you don't really want to pack it up to go down the street to the convenience store and back for a gallon of milk so the 125 rack on the back you're luggage is a milk crate to go get milk and bread and cigarettes and everything else you need to go camping with that's your that's your main mode and what it is everybody in the family can start it up and ride it to the store and back very easily without much hassle at all really over anything else says slow short wheel base and that's another thing about that frame that's the last year for the shorter wheelbase frame that turns shorter when you're out when you're out in the on a footpath in the woods and it's tight trees and shrubbery that thing is made to turn really quick short range short radius everything else was after that was a little taller a little more suspension and the frame was about an inch or so longer wheelbase to make it more stable for faster speeds which that's what it become crazy and we know the story The Motocross era everything was made like a motocrosser after that that's the last one and the preferred bike when I moved to Santa Fe New Mexico that was year was the preferred frames because of the way they are and then pump the crap out of motor and make it fast that way and was a great desert bike and that engine is the preferred piston that we would buy to put in our YZ engines to make them last longer that should tell you something about the Piston design it's a two-ring piston with what they call a dice ring on top for compression which is an l-shaped ring with the outside of the L facing outside to the cylinder so the compression is captured inside the L shape of the Ring for maximum compression and torque and mainly miles that pistol last I don't know I just I don't know how long it'll last in a YZ . But that was the trick for not only the 125 is a 250s and the 360s to use the two ring dice design from the enduros and put it in your race bike cuz it lasted long iron he actually had more compression an excuse was in the race bike with one thin ring was it would wrap up faster and it made no difference at all that two ring piston will buzz just as hard as a race piston will... How many bikes have you got for sale today I don't see that you have to sell this one at all.... Of your collection of unobtainium this is the unobtainium found only under home tree... And if you decide to keep this which you should forget about selling it... Research it very carefully and find the information of the Yama lube two-stroke oil that would be recommended today for that oil injection I started out with the Yama lube R which was very thick and I wouldn't put it in that injector at all find out I'm sure Yamaha has some specs and recommendations to use their oil in that bike in their own bike there and... I don't know if you've ever used jambalube are two-stroke as if any of you guys ever did and you go five weekends in a row without opening up your 125 that's pretty risky because you don't know how how much carbon and what the Piston looks like when you're number one for five weeks you better look inside your motor and make sure it's going to you're going to be number one for six weeks and when you open up a two-stroke engine that's been on yamahlub r I know this is impossible to believe but there will not be one little tiny speck of carbon in the entire engine nothing bone clean and take pores and exhaust and the Piston is shiny like you pull it out of the box and so is the head and you'll have this thin film of Yamalube r on everything .. but you really don't have everything until you get yourself an 8-ft long 2x12 paint it yellow with a black stripe down the middle and in the broken section of the black stripe you paint the letters YAMALOADER.... SOMEWHERE IN THE MUSEUM WITH A WALL MURAL OF THE TAILGATE OF A PICKUP TRUCK YOU HOOK THE YELLOW LOADER ON THE SIDE OF THE WALL SO IT LOOKS LIKE IT'S HOOKED TO THE TAILGATE OF THE TRUCK AND THEIR SISTER 125 AT THE END OF THE YOUNG LOADER LIKE YOU'RE GETTING READY TO PUT IT IN YOUR PICKUP TRUCK WITH SOME BALES OF HAY CUZ THAT'S THE PERFECT KIDS FARMER BIKE FOR THE BARNYARD IN THE PASTURES AND THE COW TRAILS YOU'D BE SILLY TO SELL THAT KEVIN REALLY AS MEMORABILIA AND THE CAMARADERIE THAT GOES WITH THAT BIKE YOU'LL NEVER EVER SEE THAT AGAIN YOU'LL NEVER HAVE THAT IT'S PRICELESS DON'T GET RID OF THE BIKE PUT IT IN THE MUSEUM WHERE IT BELONGS. .. REMEMBER BILL MURRAY AND STRIPES WHEN THEY TOLD HIS CAR HIS GIRL WALKS OUT HE DROPPED THE PIZZA ON THE SIDEWALK WHEN HE WENT TO PICK IT UP IT STARTED RAINING THAT'S HOW I FEEL RIGHT NOW KAPLAN DON'T SELL THE BIKE PLEASE PLEASE I BEG YOU DON'T FEEL MY BIKE PLEASE IT'S BLUE TABLET IT'S THE YAMAHA BLUE THE YZ RACING BLUE PLEASE DON'T SELL IT LOOK IN THE COMMENTS THEY'RE CLAWING EACH OTHER NOW TO GET AT IT.... Anyways I I got your comment reply back with the email address and the Sunshine out here on my bike and I've got to take some pictures of it and put in a big file and send you a shitload of crap I just got to get it all together thanks for that address I've been wanting something like that but didn't want to ask over the comment section you know security anyway I've got what I need and I'm going to get busy on it thank you
