Another slide show I made showing the work I've done so far to save this poor rusty beast. It'll end up a very tidy streeter with LS1 and 6 speed manual. Music is by me.
I guess people can say what they want about making a whole new car. The big thing here is the unbelievable skill this man has. What an incredible effort to do what he’s done. I’m just pulling apart my 1970 Valiant Pacer that needs a lot of work on rust repair and I have no clue what to do. I would love to have the ability this man has, and I would be home and hosed. Sensational effort. My hat is off to you. Some people just have a gift. I’ve got a rusted out Valiant Pacer
I restore cars for a living, Im totally blown away. You have gone above and beyond. Mate, your an absolute machine, with balls of steel. Hat off to you on such a sick resto!!
I'm speechless. I used to make a living restoring rusty cars and as a young man I thought I had some skills. But watching this I now realise I was delusional. This is beyond anything I've ever seen in this field of endeavour. I salute you sir, even in my prime I wouldn't have been worthy enough to sweep your floors.
Mad skills mate. Wish I had a 10th of your talent.Great to see another Aussie icon saved. I'll bet that this car will be more structurally sound than when it originally rolled out of the factory.
Very nice work. There was a bloke in Bayswater North who is now retired made complete quarter panels for these out of 1 sheet.Took about 80 hours of work
Who doesn't love a Monaro I had two of at same time a Hk monaro with plastic still on seats and door panels and a LS Monaro God I wish I had them now cha ching
One question...how on earth did that poor car ever get so rusty in the first place?..only thing I can think of is it went for a dip in a river or the sea..never ever seen one that bad before. and absolute kudos to you for tackling something that nobody else would have even dared to think about. a true craftsman.
And I thought my HG ute was rusty and ready for the crusher. It hasn’t got 1/4 of the rust that HK had. I’ve had it for 30 years and still driving it every day. Its not going anywhere. Thanks mate. 💪🏼💪🏼
Kudos to you. I bet the person who sold you that car scoffed at any suggestion that it could be brought back to life. I can't stop looking at this video. Words fail me. What a remarkable achievement.
You either got to want one so bad or have very deep pockets! I know it's all doable but how much work! Got o take my hat off for the level of commitment and dedication.
Great job Tim. Inspirational effort mate. I hope my 69 Monaro comes out close to the quality of yours ( mine has half the rust that yours started with). Thank you for sharing your photos.
Mate you are so talented I can’t believe what I’m watching thanks for your video, im currently doing my late dads HR WAGON UP AND HAS LOTS OF RUST APPRECIATED ANY FUTURE FEEDBACK THANKS STEVE SYDNEY
Love how everyone talks about money , this guy is loaded , probably owner of the hot rod shop , doing this to his personal car shows his skills and talent , great for advertising .. anyone can just buy a mint gts Monaro but big deal , but to do this to a Monaro is legendary
Great Job👍 Many, many hrs of fab&rebuilding I had a Monza Blue 327 manual and it was a mint example When you really pushed the car,the brakes would fade,as they are a heavy car That will go well with the LS series engine and there are good vented rotors etc available today Cheers Frank😷
YOU SAID IT DJ, THIS WORK IS OUTSTANDING, THIS GUY IS A PURE GENIOUS, I WOULD LOVE TO KNOW THE HRS THAT WENT INTO THE MUNRO, PLEASE TELL IF YOU DARE WRITE EM DOWN ???
I guess the original inspiration was a HK monaro. I cant really see any of the original car left. But its one way of building and owning a car that is completly unaffordable now. This guy has invested a unbelievable amount of time and not really that much money in materials although lm guessing he has alot of equipment. I gotta take my hat off to him. I know how much of a commitment it is. I once built a 1928 Type 40 Bugatti from only drawings that took 6000hrs to build. It was the last project of that size l ever took on. My hat goes off to you Sir
Insane amount of work!!!! I don't mind fixing rust but that is ridiculous!!! I would of turned my nose up at that shell and looked elsewhere! But..... congratulations on your hard tedious work!!!
This guy just built an entire Car virtually...AMAZING fab work!! Now THIS is a Builder I could def count on to turn an absolute turd into a Goldmine 💯💯💯💪
Speechless. Thanks for taking the time to post up such an awesome feat. Well done, that thing was beyond it in most peoples eyes. Ive got so many questions. Any build thread for this beast?
I believe the Nova is the US version of this....even with the rarest of options in the US, (Small block versions) the Nova can't sell for more than $40k or so and this a $80k+ restoration....Great skill, this guy loves the car cause the money's not there.
Absalutely incredible how that monaro turned out .the amount of rust it had in it the titanic wasnt as bad as that , has this monaro been left in the bush or forest to rust that bad. Being covered with leaves or sitting in long grass for a long time will do this sort of destruction to a car because of permanent moisture and saps from the leaves iv seen this happen . Great work and effort getting this monaro back from the dead no one would probably know where to start or wouldnt bother fixing and refurbishing a car with that much rust i hope it was all worth it.
It's awesome seeing someone that knows what they are doing saving a rusty classic!! How many cars have ended up in the scrap heap where they could've been saved ??
Mate that isn't rust repair, you built a car that happens to have the same ID plate as an original HK Monaro. I'm certainly not knocking it though the skills on display are superb. The music's pretty good too. That is 12 minutes I am definitely not asking to get back.
