I agree, it seems like the show took a dark turn after the new show runner showed up. A hint to this is that toasty ask if your gonna throw them in water and when you say no. They say they must have confused you with someone else. Mint and Fuchsia ((the Foxes)) look their mouths have been cut to bits. It's also strange how mints on string during the last scene and how their body's can basically disjoint themselves. I wonder if the new show runner was the cause of it. So agree with you, I don't think the new show runner was a very good guy. Not to mention when the old show runner was talking about him during the end cutscene he said "you know what he plans to do" so I think his plans were never good to begin with.

The robotic Fuchsia is visible in chapter 1, a glimpse as you're going down the elevator, and the green "bouncy looking" place is the outside of the house, where you wake up/meet Sprinkles
