in case if anyone still hasnt figured it out, Mint is the "budget version" of t-mobile, they use the t-mobile network. just like how Cricket Wireless is the budget version of AT&T.
@syxepop
@syxepop 5 лет назад
Elc22, let me do a slight correction... Seems to me that Mint uses the T-Mo US network (all MVNO's "buy bandwidth" from one or more of the "Major 4"), but this is NOT OWNED BY T-MO (they have Metro PCS for that, which they bought in '17) unlike Cricket, which was bought by AT&T like a couple of years ago or Boost Mobile, which is owned by Sprint.
@Monsieur2068

Having been a T-Mobile hater for a long time due to coverage here in Minneapolis T-Mobile service is solid. I was on MetroPCS now on Mint with the $20 for 3 months deal. Also Mint announced on Reddit they are bumping up all plans so my plan will go to 8gb at the end of January 2019. Cricket has solid coverage but just like this video crap speeds, I was always looking for wifi, now I get LTE-A with 50mb down/16mb up which is almost as fast at my home wifi. FYI I am using a factory unlocked Note 9, I get Wifi Calling and VoLTE along with band 71 support.

I recently added a new line ( we had 3 now 4 ) to take advantage of the BOGO offer as I upgraded a current line . Need fine print question answered . I recently added a 4th line to take advantage of the BOGO , as I upgraded one of the original 3. My question is if I cancel one of the original lines ( that does not have an installment ) will it cancel my promotion on the new line ? I know AT & T has a 90 day rule if you cancel any lines within 90 days of a promotion it gets kicked off . Does Verizon have this same fine print ? I've called and asked several different stores and I keep on getting different answers .
@daiyuhaoran6776
@daiyuhaoran6776 3 года назад
You can cancel any line except the recently upgraded line and the new line . Also , how was false churn not be passed on to the customer yet ? If you cancel one of the 2 lines thats not involved in the promo , thats fine . would recommend waiting until you see the BOGO credits on your bill before cancelling an old line though

Been using Mint Mobile (as it's now called) for just under 2 years here in the Saint Louis area and have reliably had coverage and great speeds everywhere I go. The pricing definitely beats the carrier I came from (Ting) and it kicks the shit out of Verizon's pricing. I recently have been without a home internet connection due to moving, so I have for the first time gone over my data limit. With throttled data (after surpassing limit), web browsing still works fine, and if I reduce the quality to 144p, even RU-vid works OK, which was surprising to me. If you cant handle throttled speeds though, they do make it easy to add more high speed data.

@TechDaily

Nothing is truly "unlimited." You pay for 2, 5 or 10GB of 4G LTE data per month and how you use it is up to you. If you reach that limit, you can always add more. If you do not, you're subject to (I believe) 2G data speeds until the next month when it resets.

I have a theroy about testing phone service, when you first sign up and let's say they provide a 14 day trial period. During that time the carrier gives you full speed and top notch service, after the trial all that goes away and you're now locked in. Sooooo we need the update video
@billyblazer80
@billyblazer80 5 лет назад
You are absolutely correct, and it cannot even be argued otherwise. That is the case for contract carriers, however, with mvno non contract carriers, this method of bait and switch would not make any sense. Because, after the 3 months you could just walk away to another service. So, one would have to think the mvno's are legit, and have created a market to fill the space between the big carriers price gouging, and the real cost of doing business. I personally like the TracFone commuter driving model even better. Fill up the gas tank ie (mins, texts, data), and drive until you need to fill up again. That way, you only pay for what you actually use. Cheap, and transparent.

My download speeds I have tested in 3 parts of town I got 29, 28 and 69 Mbps, in other words if there is coverage in your area from T-Mobile it will match their speed, also I have not lost reception yet. I have had it for about a week now and so far so good. I am using it with a Xiaomi Redmi 5 plus global version phone. Mint is DEFINETLY worth it if you live in western NY.

Is there an option to switch from 3-month plan to 12-month option?

Yep, through your account dashboard you should be able to upgrade your plan.

After all the deceiving Christmas promo last month and i switched, now i just got an email from them that the $60 3 months plan will automatically be $105 starting January 29th. ($35/month). now i'm searching the web for another service. And by the way, their internet loads really slow.

Do they have an unlimited data plan? Thanks for the response in advance!
@alexandrite2221
@alexandrite2221 5 лет назад
They don’t have unlimited 4G LTE data. All the plans are technically unlimited, but only the first 3/8/12 GB of your chosen plan are full speed. After that, they throttle you to slow 2G speeds.

I like this because i'm a kid and i'm buying and iPhone x but if i put it on my family service I don't even get three bars at home so i'm really considering just buying a gift card with enough money for the three month plan and just hooking it up.

I've been using Mint Mobile for almost exactly 11 months. I have the 5 GB/month. I've been happy with it. I've had some minor issues - especially when traveling in Iowa. The whole thing of missing phone calls or going directly to voicemail, I haven't really noticed it. On the other hand, I have a phone to MAKE phone calls. People who call me can leave a message. I'm part hermit. Yes, I'll be renewing next month. I'm happy with Mint.

I live in Northern California, mint mobile LTE in my area is really slow. I probably won’t be renewing my plan after three months. I guess I will stick with ATT

This looks like a great service! So, visual voicemail is a no-go on iOS... However, does anyone know if iMessage is supported? On that note, does iMessage use data? I'm typically an Android guy and might stay that way or switch over to Apple + Mint. As for Google, I know voicemail does work through Voice. TIA!

iMessage over WiFi and cellular works with no problems 👌🏻 iMessages in general use a tiny tiny amount of data. Only pictures/video iMessages would use up noticeable data amounts.

TechDaily thank you! You have a great channel and I'm all subscribed. I'd like to move my family over to a service like this overtime. My father is the one who complains about bills and I've told him many times there are good MVNOs starting with MetroPCS years ago :)

I guess the good thing is even mms pictures don't use data if you're an Android person too!

In Miami area I have great coverage with Mint Mobile and it turned out cheaper than the bargain I was thinking I was getting from Metro. Saved 150 a year in comparison for the same carrier (T-Mobile).

Mint just uses T-Mobile. BUT, resellers do have slightly less network priority.

They say itr's $20 month for service, but that doesn't include fees and taxes which are about $8 bringing your monthly total to $28 for 8 GB LTE if you pay for the annual service. It's $35 (plus taxes) a month otherwise. BTW Hotspot will work with Mint

I have been using Mint for about 1 month, am not a huge data user, have the $15 mo. plan, and so far I have great coverage in my house. I am using an Android 7 phone, my access wasn't that great with my other provider, and I was using an Apple iPhone 5S that sucked so bad that I gave it away. I optioned for the Mint one year payment in April, so it will be interesting to see what happens to performance once that transaction takes place.

UPDATE THOUGHTS? What did you think, like it? My Gf has had it for a bit and she likes it so far I think. Do have to do some technical setup stuff but the tech support to do so seemed pretty decent. (And thanks for the vid btw! :D)

Got one of these as a Christmas gift. After noticing that their usage on there $75 a month unlimited plan was under 6GB a month I just had to get them this. They are paying too much for such a low use of internet on the Tmobile network

Will a locked T-Mobile phone work with Mint Sim? Reviews online seem to indicate that they won't. Has anyone actually tried it?
@TechDaily
@TechDaily 5 лет назад
If the phone is locked, it will work with no other SIM card than from the network the phone was purchased. You need to pay off the phone and ask T-Mobile to unlock it
@robnation2475
@robnation2475 5 лет назад
Prior to switching to Mint, I called T-Mobile for a free unlock code but I never had to use the code.(lucky I guess) My Note 3 phone worked readily with Mint anyway... I also ported my number over with zero issues. Save a ton, feel free to use my referral link: fbuy.me/mijaD It's easier than you think, but of course some people (like me) get paranoid when a deal looks to good to be true. Order sim card. Shows up in 1 to 3 days USPS. Follow easy videos on Mint site, restart phone. Done! No need to call your old carrier (if you port your old number over) They close your account for you same day.
