@@madison2849 Letupita is a brony that is well-known for their youtube channel, which would always be one of the first and quickest to post good quality MLP G4 and 5 clips of new episodes to RU-vid.
I've never heard Minty be described as having Autism, but hearing it now explains why I've gravitated towards her so much, even as a kid. Excellent compilation.
Minty is one of my favorite G3 characters! in fact her clumsiness and adorable slight naivity always made me think of her as as the Derpy of mlp G3! I mean that in a good way in case anyone is wondering.
Minty and Derpy would get along so well, they have such similar personalities and they share a voice actor! I like how Tabitha St. Germain made Derpy’s voice similar to Minty’s Kimono is such a cool character, too. It’s a shame she only really appeared in the first special and never again. She has so much story potential, like why doesn’t she live in town and why does she possess so much knowledge? Is she some kind of pony God? G3 really would have benefitted from some TV show, it’s such a shame it only got specials. They were good specials, but I want to see more of the characters! Especially Minty and Pinkie Pie, they’re sooo cute together.
I'm so happy you made this, I love g4 but minty is goated. She's been my favorite since I was a kid. I too am autistic. This makes me very very happy. Thank you for editing and uploading it. Only thing better than this horse is socks for christmas. Edit to say also!! She's played by Tabitha St. Germain, in case anyone didn't know :)))
Well, some people are currently coming up with disorder diagnoses for G4 ponies, if that makes u feel even better :) For example, some people believe that Twilight Sparkle from G4 has OCPD/OCD.
Man, ever since I was little, Minty has always been my favorite pony. As someone with Autism and ADHD it makes me even happier to hear that she represents this. ❤
@@Dansespire No, this is from the 1980's and almost NO ONE even acknowledged that women could even HAVE autism, in the 1980's. You're being cruel to older people who actually watched this show. It's not nice to rewrite our lives.
I loved minty as a kid! Im not autistic, but i feel like i related to her with my ADHD. Her being awkward and forgetful really spoke to me, i think. I had the christmas special on dvd and watched it all the time, i also had a singing doll. It was very strange to my parents, because i hated the color pink, and i couldnt stand mint flavor.
I never watched Gen 3 My Little Pony as a kid (or teenager when I was at the height of my MLP:FiM obsession), but from this video, it actually looks a lot better than I was expecting. Minty is such a cute character too, with her endearing clumsiness, and contagious laugh! I can definitely see why she seems to be the fan-favourite pony among Gen 3 fans! I might have to watch some Gen 3 MLP some time after I finish my re-watch of Gen 4. And as an Autistic girl, I approve of this video!
I'm autistic and I'm not sure how to feel xD on one hand, yes, we miss social cues and jokes often need to be explained etc, but we're not dumb or "bimbo-esque" or anything close. So I'm conflicted, but having representation in my most treasured love since 1984 is pretty darn cool. ^^
I don't think Minty is dumb tbh. She just misses the jokse and over-explains things because she doesn't pick up on figures of speech that well, and she communicates with other people so that she can be understood. Other things like her particularism with the candy cane and it breaking can be explained as lack of coordination and needing things to be completely "right", not uncommon with autism. Exc. Perhaps autistic people can be seen as dumb by people because they do not understand social cues and have a tendency to communicate in ways allistic people do not understand. You have to keep in mind that someone like Minty is probably trying to overcompensate for their difficulties navigating social interactions, which can lead to them seeming unfocused because they have to keep more things in mind at any given time than the average person.
@@USBmi She comes across as dumb at times. Take the very first clip of this video for example, it has nothing to do with autism and its inclusion made me a bit uncomfortable.
Yeah...hate to be the one to explain this....but this isn't "representation" in a 1984 kids show.....this is a RU-vidr insulting both austic people and a bimbo-esque pony at the same time....
It never occurred to me that minty could be interpreted as autistic coded and it just makes so much sense..!!! I always knew she was a favorite of mine for a reason!!
When I saw the title of the video I just went "Wait, is that why I hardcore related to Minty as a kid despite mostly only ever seeing the Christmas movie and hating socks?"
Minty was my favorite pony growing up. I’m an adult now, I still adore her. I don’t care she wasn’t in future generations of the show, she will always be my favorite!!
Oh damn. I'm autistic and I've been a fan of mlp for years, and I've always liked Minty a lot! It's cool to know there may be a bigger reason for why I found her so relatable 😁 Also, I think having good-accidental-autism represantation might be a mlp thing at this point - so many ponies from mlp:fim display autistic traits too! ♥️
She was my favorite original My Little pony and I'm actually autistic. I have also loved every rendition of pinkie pie I related with her heavily in the newer series is I have related with Twilight because I liked to read and be away from people and didn't quite understand friends. And then I started to love rainbow dash more as I realized were my sexuality and gender fit into this world.
Minty was my very first comfort character as a kid & watching this after getting my diagnosis from 2018, yeah I can see a lot of my younger self in her
Even if I'm not as big in the MLP community as I was, I'm actually pretty glad that the Autistic Community is being represented, cause I also am an Autistic Person
Aww I never knew somebody like her existed in mlp but I love her character. Also the way the other pony could tell it was minty just but her hesitancy to bow playfully is amazing attention to detail
The algorithm strikes again! Minty is actually wholesome, I never knew she was quirky like this and that adds a fun relatable character dynamic to the series. I am only familiar with G4 and G5 but I could definitely watch this and enjoy it.
I'm autistic and this makes me happy even if I'm in my 20s I still enjoy mlp mostly 4th generation my sister has ponies and we'd play together and I've always liked minty and recently been diagnosed as autistic😂😂😂so ig it was meant to be as my favorite character they had the little chunky ponies growing up.
Not me JUST NOW realizing why I was obsessed with minty when I was a kid, she was my FAVORITE. My heart broke when she flew out the window on a drive back home and my mom refused to go back, she said it was probably ran over by the person behind us. I think about this memory a lot and it still makes me sad even in my 20s. I wish I had her again. I didn't have many toys when I was a kid so she was very special.
Also it was my father's fault. He knocked out of my hand and didn't apologize. Nobody cared that it happened and I knew it so I silently let my throat burn. Maybe it was slightly my fault because I did have her near the window while it was rolled down but i was very careful. I had honestly forgotten he'd knocked it out of my hand. My mom always said it was my fault (things were often my fault) I can't believe I let her make me think that. Just one of the many situations where I was neglected and actively discouraged to have special interests. I can't tell you how many tantrums I had over multiple vindictive actions from my parents. Even when I was a teenager and it was innapropriate for my age. I still have tantrums like that to this day, I get embarrassed because I expect to be slapped or screamed at for it. Can we please just try to understand our children or take them to a professional before resorting to abuse. It's way too common to see ND kids fall through the cracks especially girls because they apparently can't be ND. Never saw anyone until a couple months ago and im reconnecting with myself. A lot about me makes sense now. An example would be this book sized comment on a silly kids show compilation. Sorry you had to read all that
Me as a child: Minty is best pony. Me as a teen: I miss Minty. I want more Minty. Where's Minty? I need more Minty. I love Minty. Minty is still best pony. Me as an adult: OH THAT'S WHY I LIKE MINTY SO MUCH- ... Still best pony.
Fun fact: "The Charming Birthday" aired on the year I was born: 2003. Also, I didn't know Minty is Autistic! And I was laughing kinda hard when Minty screamed "HEEEEEELLP!!!" Before it was cut perfectly.
In the first clip, Minty smiles when she catches the green teapot. Her favorite color is green. Despite the whoopsie-daisie, she seems content and relieved. 😅
To me Kimono seemed like the Zecora of g3 but without the rhymes and obviously not a zebra but a pony like the rest of them, lives farther outside of town, knows a lot and is helpful. While Minty of g3 may have inspired the creation of Derpy in g4, Minty certainly got a lot more screen time in her day, compared to Derpy. G5 has Posey so Minty might be around in December for g5. Just my 2 bits of what I was thinking while watching this.
Oh my gosh, I'd completely forgotten about this- I don't even recall the name of this show but I recognized the art instantly. How did the algorithm know to put this in the recommended? XD
I've had a minty plushie that I was gifted for my first ever christmas and I love her so much but I never watched g3 and now watching this I find it very funny that my most precious plushie is of a pony who is just as much of an idiot as me I love her (she sings this song when you press her cutiemark and its about christmas)
