Minute of Mae: Austrian Steyr-Pieper 1909 

My girls regularly ask, "we wanna see the girl shoot" when Mae videos come up during my downtime. Thank you for posting these shorts and helping me introduce my girls to the shooting sports and history.

How can you NOT like Mae, no matter WHAT she is shooting!!!

Neat choice! back in the day in the sleepy little southern town I live in, there was a old man who had one of these, kept it beside him on his nightstand. When he passed, the investors I worked for bought it from his widow. Handled well, but as Mae correctly states, the recoil was surprisingly snappy.

My shirts arrive and we get a Minute of Mae. Today was a good day.

A pocket version of this was used in the animated pilot of Lackadaisy. This can be confirmed by the referenced 6 round capacity, several shots of the silhouette, and the fact that every gun featured in the episode was based off a real firearm from the era (M1911, BAR, Schofield, and Thompson, in addition to the mentioned Pieper.)

Actually Pieper is pronounced "peeper". If the name had been Peiper, your pronounciation would have been right. Keep up the good work.

I love our expert shooter. It’s especially nice that she squares up with the size of WWI soldiers as well as shoots with similar posture. I can only imagine it’s actually affected her competition skills negatively though. However when I’m contorted at unnatural positions aiming through a triangle and shooting through a circle whilst holding myself up with a crescent I think, “I bet Mae could do this better” and I reminds me that there are more ways to skin a cat.

Neat little video. One thought from a (very) amateur historian and armchair gunslinger, about the option to use it single shot. One of the odd ideas from this era; think about the Webley pistol and the magazine cut-offs on Lee-Enfield rifles, was that the weapon would be used single shot, with the magazine kept for emergencies.

Not a huge fan of this series since I already watched all of the full episodes but still watch every installment to support the channel
