It’s not a pilot episode,because this episode was made in 1974.

There were two versions of the show, one from 1974 and the other from 2006, this is the 1974 show.

Because this is the 1974 version which had not much special effects to smoothen the claymation movements. 2016 version of Mio Mao was much smoother.
