My theory is that the child consciousness was in the shells he wore when he entered in the waters and these are the shells we picked for thelxie, thus his real consciousness inhabit thelxie and was accompanying us during the story and reunited with her mom before finally departing for good.
ah that's a good breakdown. i do remember seeing the shells with words on them at the bottom of the sea and wondered how they got there. Damn this one sad quest.
after you finish the quest. you can see in the event overview that thelxie has replace to Lescot, next to her mother. what a beautiful event, RIP lescot, 😭😭
Fuck!! I am not fully recovered from the emotional damage that I received doing the Archon quest and now here we are receiving more emotional damage from an event 😢😭, Hoyoverse, please give us a break!!, we need a happy quest, our brains need more serotonin.
Wow- just... oh my... I was not expecting that twist at all. Got me depressed and out of it for a few minutes. My sister noticed my distress, and telling her a simplified version of the event story to give her context did help me process what had happened up to the point where we learn that the mother is the one suffering. I'm feeling better now, but that whiplash was much rougher than I anticipated.
Yeah bro, I did not see this twist coming but fuck. It's so sad. I have a mom who is always worried everyday about us. We often forget to take care of ourselves but this quest just made me really appreciate apart of life because I couldn't imagine how broken my mom would be if anything were to happen to us. Man, kudos to hoyo doing another great small story quest with such a good and meaningful story.
Sumeru was about apartheid and racism and now Fontaine is all about mental illness, I wonder what relevant topic will be on Natlan? The horrors of war?
I knew the kid was dead all along and the mother was the one who really needed help for Loneliness Syndrome, but wasn't expecting such a messed up death, weighing yourself down with shells and drowning. Even found the Destree household by accident, but didn't think they were connected.
At the start of this whole event, the Traveler and Paimon got into this whole thing through a commission from the fishing association by the name Delaroche who in this Act came back to see if they are ok as they haven't heard back from them since. The Traveler, Paimon, and Freminet explain the whole thing only for Delaroche to drop the biggest revelation on the three of them. Delaroche heard about an incident a month ago where a boy named Lescot Destree who tied himself to a bunch of shells and walked into open water. Thus the whole water imp thing. It doesn't explain the fish too well honestly. Maybe Lescot heard his dad's voice in the water. Having known from Freminet that Loneliness Syndrome mixed with uncontrollable delusions can be lethal, I half expected her son to have died before the last moment or even though we succeed he still dies anyway, or that Zuria's son was already dead and that she wanted to make her son's last wish come true. I certainly wasn't expecting that info drop and what came after. The revelation rocked everything the three had believed and they find out from the Destree's family doctor unveiled what really happened and that Lescot's father had died due to an accident which has affected both him and Zuria who were not able to fully recover from it. Zuria left Lescot home alone one day while she went to host an art exhibit and I am guessing in his loneliness he heard voices in the water who called for him and he disappeared. Zuria who hasn't fully recovered from the loss of her husband was broken by Lescot's death which lead to her worsened loneliness syndrome and her believing her son is still there with said illness and she wants to finish the story of her son's fantasy world. Freminet's commission in a way is help bring joy to Lescot's life and to restore Zuria's fractured heart. Traveler, Paimon, Thelxie, and Freminet finished the tale and showed it to Zuria so she could add the finishing touches. For a moment, Zuria saw Thelxie as Lescot allowing her to have the last moment and farewell to her son before he disappeared. The Traveler wearing Freminet's helmet translated what Thelxie was saying and saw a mirage of Lescot in Thelxie. Having that moment with her son, Zuria is finally moving on from her grief and using the story they had created as a way for others like her who suffers from loneliness syndrome or loneliness to bring joy to their lives. I am guessing the Traveler was able to see Lescot in Freminet's helmet sort of ties into how all Fontainians return to the water when they die. Lescot died before Neuvillette had freed them so maybe Lescot was within the waters and watching over his mother. Thelxie allowed Lescot to see his mother again before he faded away for good.
Not just Fontaine. There is I think it's a reputation quest in Mondstadt a man asks for flowers for his daughter would be nice if he wasn't in the cemetery.
The thing that hit me the most is that I knew this twist was coming, like, to me it was so obvious she was the one suffering from the illness but what I didn't predict was that her son was real at some point and that just completely broke me and made ugly cry through all the quest
Unfortunately for Lescot he was in Fontaine and not in Liyue... If he was in Liyue, the Conqueror of Demons would have saved him in a blink of an eye... But sadly, Xiao can't be everywhere... 😢
I'm starting to really understand why Fontaine's quests have ridiculously DETAILED crying animations. All the damn quests, even this event one, is just me crying alongside these characters like... Hydro nation indeed qwq
I knew when we first met zuria something was off. It was her humming that gave tragic vibes, indicating that this story quest is going lead to large amounts of emotional damage.
Hoyo has no chills and even tells us how Lescot died / died himself. The game got really dark with Sumeru. They need to add Trigger Warnings for the future :d
Does mean Lescot Destree died drown under water cover seashell entire his body cause Zuria affect delusion reality sense her willing felt her son is alive subconsciously reality instead face to reality accept status Lescot is dead?
I dont think Event quest ever need Archon quest to do. You just need to unlock the region map at least. The character introduction will show up if we never did their respective character or archon quest
I played this on my second account which is on low AR, you can still play this even without encountering the Fontaine main quest. No worries, you can still play this event. The reward is generous so you better not miss it. 😁
Ah yeah. Heck, probably better to do this first then the Archon quest. Because maaan am I not okay with all this emotional damage from it and then 3 other story quests. Depression and grief hallucinations, I was NOT ready for.
