I like how this song is less about the actual breakup and more about the tendency of our older parents to coach us into suppressing our emotions like they were taught to do.

My mother is Southern and this song is 100% on the money. This and "Hush Hush" just about sums up Southern mothers .

Metal head here but do like some country and this is one of my favorites. But the best line is "run and hide your crazy".

So many years later and this still remains one of the most powerful breakup songs ever!

She's a pretty lady but she looks extra gorgeous in this video imo. I love the blue dress on her. Blue is definitely her color.

As a warning for all the women who have parents like this, don't let them make you suppress your feelings; as someone with experience in this, I completely lost my shit when it all came to the surface. Give them the ultimatum that it's either now, or when it becomes so much that you really make them look bad.
