I can remember in the late 60s and early 70s when I went to stay with my grandparents in Ossett, my grandpa taking me down Storrs Hill, where we'd sit overlooking Healey Mills or else we'd go down the bottom over the long bridge (seen at 8:00 in your video), and he'd tell me how Healey Mills was a major marshalling yard for goods trains. And look at it now :-(
I was there in 1965/66 as well, staying with my uncle Jack who was a platelayer at Healey Mills yard. Horbury was a lovely original station to sit watching steam locomotives all day long. Happy days.
love to see what Horbury was like back in 'The Day' Healey Mills looks terrific and the little sidings near Horbury Jn I never new existed. Thanks for sharing it Dan!
I have to say that junction (mirfield east) is a lot better since they put in flashing yellows. It always seemed like such a waste that it was a 60mph junction.
@@rechnin6680 it's the odd Couple theme 100% certain. Listen to him whistle at 3:18, and then listen to the Odd Couple theme here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-kDrfHj3j398.html&start_radio=1
Yes I noticed that too. He also whistles the Mr Ben theme tune just past the bridge approaching Wakefield Kirkgate :) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-MF0qLIyDaGI.html
