I was branded as anti semitic at work for voicing similar sentiments. I come from an Irish Catholic family and during 1980s people were openly voicing anti Irish sentiments as a result of the IRA bombings. There is a difference between belonging to a particular religious/ethnic group and being part of or condoning atrocities taking place in the name of that group. Miriam Margolyes is a brave, compassionate woman, we need more people like her to try and bring some sanity into this terrible situation.

I've been across borders in said province and the Palestinians are hearded daily to work for Isrealis through checkpoints and razor wire fences like caged animals. Considering that there should be a dual residency of the territory according the the British made mandate the Balfour Declaration with the Rothschilds , it does sway one way rather ! No wonder the Palestinians feel cornered and get hostile sometimes. On this occasion the invasion is in question as the Isreali defence force are more than equipped to deal with the breach of the border. It has been said that it could a set up to sway the people of Isreal to favor Netanyahu more as his recent failings shed him in a bad light and this raises the nationalist feeling for him. Shall we say two wrongs don't make a right. Some wrongs are more equal than others to paraphrase a famous writer.

The worst for me in it is that it is not a war because compared to Israel, Palestine is like an ant. Hamas is a military group ( something like resistance groups during WWII- people and basic weapons) Israel is the 5th army on the world protected by an anti-misle system with all weapons you could imagine. It's not even a compassion that is needed it is understanding the topic of the Israelis fighting Hamas, what Hamas is and why it is supported by some Palestinians. What they did was cruel but as Finkelstein said imagine people who are breaking out from concentration camps. Imagine that you are living without much rights, hopes, you and your family were discriminated against, killed,wounded, robbed and then you break out and you see clean rich houses with everything, party where people are just dancing and enjoying themselves while you are struggling. You are blaming those people for suffering you are experienced till now. In some people monsters are waking up in this situation and many examples in the history of this are available. Ask yourself where the Israeli army was? Why didn't they protect the border with one of their deadly enemies? What were they busy with? Protecting illegal settlers in the West Bank or helping them take over more land? Fighting with teenagers throwing stones on them? I think that Jewish people are one of the most intelligent and compassionate but unfortunately I can't say this about Israel and people who are supporting this war, occupation and apartheid the same time denying everything and living their perfect life next to oppressed people.
