Taking a bike on holiday when camping, caravanning or motor homing is a great way to see local sites, keep fit and generally get around without taking the car or van everywhere. A folding bike makes transporting it so much easier than travelling with a standard full sized bike. I got the chance to test and review the MiRiDER ONE folding electric bike and assess just how well this single geared electric bike performs.
The bike was kindly loaned to me by Homestead Caravans and Outdoor Leisure but as always, I received no payment and no one had any control over the content or views expressed in this video.
You can find out more or purchase the MiRIDER one from Homestead this link.-
www.homesteadcaravans.co.uk/a... (Unaffiliated link - I receive no compensation if you purchase with this link).
Thanks to Ian, Daniella and Ed for their help when filming.

This an excellent review by someone who obviously knows his bikes. It's good to see a review by an experienced cyclist! It has dealt with nearly all the questions about the MiRider that I was struggling to find anywhere else, I've got a GB3 on order (partly influenced by your review) and I hope that MiRider can lend you one for a video. Thanks you

Thank you I'm glad you liked the video and found it helpful. That means a lot. I'm on holiday at the moment but plan to reach out to Mirider to see if there's an option of a loan of a GB3. So watch this space.

Great thorough review. I bought my MiRider GB3 in November (it has gears - needed on the steep hills I ride 😀). It replaced a non-folding KTM electric bike, which I had for 8 years. I needed a bike I could get into my car by myself, but was still comfy/powerful/strong (I ride on gravel tracks in the Forest of Dean). I have Chronic Pain & Fatigue conditions, so an electric bike is essential. My MiRider is enabling me to go out and explore lots of new routes. It is so fun and easy to handle. By the way - I have a Smart ForTwo EQ, and it fits easily into the boot.

Glad you liked the review. I'll have to see if I can get hold of a demo model of the GB3. It sounds like the gears make all the difference. Really glad to hear that eBikes are allowing you to get out cycling more. They really are a great way to make cycling more fun and more accessible for people.

Great video, I watched to see if I have missed any of my own bike's features (I had) so, thanks! I have owned my MirRider since 2021 - It's a fabulous bike and it easily tackles my commute to work which, includes a monster hill on the way home lol. Battery still fine after 3 years 🙂

Great review which covered all the things I needed to know. I have 2 of these on order, and can't wait to get them. One for me, the other for my better half! I would certainly be interested to know how the much more expensive geared version compares.

I hadn't seen the wooden boot stand before. Certainly looks like it would help keep the bike stable when travelling. Thanks for the information.

A well presented comprehensive review. Having ridden a Mirider I can confirm that it is a fun experience. I did find the 16” wheels needed getting used to but then it does fold to a small size. Could you do a review of the Pedibal? There are very few reviews for this 20” electric folding bike with gears which sells for just under £1,000.

Im looking into buying the mirider 24 gb3. It looks amazing and love the better 24 inch wheels.. it doesnt fold but handlebar will fold and theres quick release front wheel. 😊
@DTSquared
@DTSquared 4 дня назад
Th MiRider 24 GB3 looks interesting and the 24inch wheels will certainly make it more comfortable and stable over longer rides or rougher terrain. I'm surprised that they have stuck with the gearless approach on this model, it made some sense on the folding bike to save weight and more importantly no vulnerable derailleurs when folding. And folding bikes are usually for commuting and shorter trips. But the 24 GB3 looks better suited for longer rides and tougher terrains where gears may be more useful. I'm sure you'll really enjoy it though, electric bikes really are a great way to get more out of cycling.

I love mine it’s handy around the city the off rd tyres are great and the xtra comfort seat is worth getting also, iv two batteries both bags I wish the black bag had wheels also the other bag is like a suitcase, I noticed if you have your suspension to hard when you fold it the magnets don’t meet, every twist of the suspension makes the bike longer or shorter only by cm’s or an inch maybe but that’s no probs, it’s top notch for what I need it for and the customer care is top notch also, very quick to reply, yeah no complaints.

We use folding bikes for use from our caravan a lot. By far the biggest aspect to their appeal is their ability to easilly fold, to the smallest size possible for transportation in limited space but still give a decent ride within it's limitations as a folder. Electric drive on such a bike isn't as important, even for my wife, who is not sporty in the slightest. To my mind considering what I have said, a Brompton is the best and the standard to be held to, which can be optioned as an electric model but I wouldn't bother. We have one Brompton and one Dahon, The Brompton is a delight being able to be folded into a third and rides brilliantly, whereas the Dahon, like the mirider, only folds in half. I wish we had two Bromptons, an omission, which I may correct in the future.
@DTSquared
@DTSquared 10 месяцев назад
Brompton's certainly do have one of the smallest form factors when folded. Hope you found the video interesting though.

Why so expensive? Got a similar ebike here in South Africa for $500. Quite similar but its battery serves as a seat post and 16 inch tyres.
@DTSquared
@DTSquared 5 месяцев назад
With bikes there could be a multitude of differences that make two similar looking bikes wildly different in price. Usually differences are in the components which can differ in materials, design, weight and quality. On eBikes motors and batteries can have very similar specs but actually be very different.
@dleon0902
@dleon0902 5 месяцев назад
@@DTSquared The differences i see are that ebike has a rear suspension whereas mine does not have one. Mine is 7 speed and lg battery, Other than those, everything else are comparable including the display (shows batt voltage). Mine is closer to the estarli ebike. To be fair, got mine on sale. It just seems that UK ebike prices are exorbitant.

Hi can u just use throttle
@DTSquared
@DTSquared 2 месяца назад
Hi, Not really, UK cycle law requires motors to only operate when peddling. So bikes that just use throttle are not legal (would technically class as motorbikes so require tax and insurance). The boost trigger does work without peddling but only up to 4 miles per hour. Hope that helps.

Not having gears is unforgivable. They're not that expensive if you don't get some twatty wine mom brand.
@DTSquared
@DTSquared 4 месяца назад
I doubt the reason for not adding gears was price related since, as you say, they are not that expensive. More likely that the reason was to save on weight and/or complexity and reliability. Since a hub gear is heavier and a derailleur gear is prone to damage on a folding bike.
