Another rare stunning and possibly one off Miroku in this video. The 3800 is regarded by many as the best of the Miroku family. Manufactured from 1977 up until 1994 there are still thousands of 3800's in use today by all kinds of shooters worldwide.
This one bears close resemblance to a Belgian Browning model and has some very interesting features. Exquisite engraving by master Browning engraver Lucien Ernst the true depth of his artisan skills are captured in the hugely detailed work on this Miroku.
A truly special gun that Miroku and shotgun fans alike are sure to love.

Can't quite see but I would suggest it is 'English Flat Top' chequering. 'Drop points' are on knife blades; I would say the stock has 'Teardrops'. Shame so little choke and in fact that it's not M/C. Same choke in each barrel makes selective trigger a bit redundant. The weight, barrel length, light chokes, low rib and high comb suggest to me it was intended to be used as a Skeet gun.

Thank you for your comment. Interesting guess on the chequering style. As mentioned in the video the gun was originally choked 1/2 and full as per the barrel markings ( no multichokes back in 1980) but could easily be converted by the likes of Teague or Briley. The 3" chambers point towards a fowling tool. Certainly not a skeet gun. Kind regards, Matthew

If the gun was intended for the USA, it might be quite normal for it to have 3" chambers and lots of choke as a basic 'USA' spec as they certainly used to prefer heavy load cartridges. I still think it has been converted for skeet use, no good for wildfowling in its current form. I once briefly owned a Beretta 682 which had 1/4 and 1/4. Thought it a complete waste of time for game shooting. Nowadays of course, it might be well suited for steel shot. @@eastfieldgunroom

Random question about older Miroko- What is an ORE? or what does it stand for? thanks
@fullchoke01
@fullchoke01 11 месяцев назад
An ore is just a 600, base grade gun
@eastfieldgunroom
@eastfieldgunroom 11 месяцев назад
Thank you for your comment. Yes the ORE is a basic grade 'no frills' Miroku 600 from late 1960's early 1970's. Still a good gun though. As to what ORE stands for I honestly have no idea. Kind regards, Matthew

Sorry Matthew I have no idea what the chequering is called, and I guess I could Google it ,but that would be cheating wouldn't it . but I bet someone will be letting me know in the comments, how can you not love a Miroku 😍😍

Love the video, had a mk38 grade 5, I’m sure someone told me it was semi flat top checkering, I’d love to know if that’s really the case though, and if it is what it means!
@eastfieldgunroom
@eastfieldgunroom 11 месяцев назад
Thank you for your comment and kind words. Have certainly never seen this type of chequering on an MK38 but it is indeed flat top chequering. My assumption is that it is flat topped rather than pointed as such. Kind regards, Matthew

Miroku are so under rated. My mate has an old Grade 5 MK38 which he still shoots. It’s a lovely gun beautifully engraved with great wood.

A very unusual gun. I wonder if it was originally bought as a Wildflower and later changed to a high end Game Gun, which would help explain the 3” chamber and the fact that the chokes were bored out. As for the checkering is it ‘Fish Scale’?

Hi Matt, I ve got that Same gun but a B25 ,same engraving identical to this Miroku that i purchased from " you " at Doveridge about 4/5 years ago ? Its not signed at all, got 2 3/4 " chambers ant 32" barrels with narrow midi rib . its got long flush Brieley 9 chokes BUT on barrel flats single star top and bottom , so original full/full ie a trap gun , but now a Sporter at 8 ILBs weight . IF you remember the gun ?? i ve had it done up again now and it looks great and part of my browning collection IE D5g , D4g , C3 , C2g , B2c and an Early 1931 proto type Horse shoe bar forend with 30 " barrels double trigger and serial " 268 " . That Miroku 3800 possible got Saddle border stich on pistol grip not on forend ,and you might get it Tegued if enough steel left in after boring out 1/4 1/4 and its far too nice for Wildfowling and too light in chokes anyway ! Check out in Ned Schwing , Browning book Page 388 a yellow page, the P /2r engraving American Very similar ? ok . regards Mark R

Thank you for your comment Mark and I absolutely remember the B25 that you had. Sounds like you have quite a collection, perhaps something I could produce a video about. Absolutely agree with your thoughts about this little 3800 especially regarding the choke. I suspect that it was originally built as a 'fowler' with tight chokes but has been bored out over time to be a bit more general purpose. Maybe you should pair up your B25 with it? Hope you're well. Kind regards, Matthew
