To answer those who keep asking you - Titanic lies at a depth of about 12,500 feet (3.8 km; 2.37 mi), about 370 miles (600 km) south-southeast off the coast of Newfoundland. The two halves are about 600 metres apart😉 Nice kit, no hull inaccuracies to worry about...
From the downloaded instructions: "Some gates are larger, because we don´t want any ejector marks on parts, and also very thin true-to scale parts require larger gates to avoid filling issues" and for the paint guide, last page bottom, "Painting - olive drab in US Army service" Gotta love a craftsman of quality kits approach to the sprues. Simple paint scheme too 😜. Nice look at it Nigel, thanks. Now am curious how much those full PE set would do for it.👍
Just a comment after watching Mos' kit review of an Airfix "New Tooling" kit. First thing in my mind ... betcha gonna be a bunch of ejector pin marks. Sure enough 2nd sprue in. As he is perusing over them, wow quality of details on them versus the kit Nigel showed today, what a difference. Back to your comments during your talk about the PE kits, it didn't really need it and it can stand on it's own. Your starting to spoil us with the high quality around here! 😋 It's amazing what a quality kit manufacturer can put out.
I really struggled with this kit and wish I'd watch this first, a lot of good hints. I turned mine into a really nice Diorama showing both booms deployed recovering a rolled Bren Carrier from a deep ditch.
My Dad's cousin had a motor repair business in the 1950's and he owned a Diamond T wrecker. As a small lad, this beast seemed enormous to me, wonder what happened to it ?
I do have a Mirror Models kit, not that one though, and yes they are a work of art... This one appears to be another . It's certainly not going to fall together but the work you put in will be well rewarded. 👍
Nigel, I think your videos are very informative. You bring up things that I would not even think of. Ignore the negative comments they are just shit stirrers with nothing better to do.
Shame about the way the sprue is numbered, you spend more time trying to find a part than you do building it. I’ve got as far as building the chassis at present and I’m about to move onto the cap but as you say you really need a break from building this as it’s so intensive. Great video review, Nigel! I have their soft top wrecker version. How was the plastic when removed from the sprues? I find that some plastic will tear when using cutters, even if the cutter used is God Hand cutter. Thanks!
I have that kit too.. it's lovely isn't it!! Not a clue sorry... Perhaps email a military restorations group? I should imagine the whole running gear was OD? Just found this online.. Despite the multitude of grey engines, I suspect the factory engine colour, at least on early models, may have been a mid to dark green colour as NOS cylinder heads have been this colour as well as an original and probably unrebuilt engine. Other NOS parts were red primer like clutches and water pumps.
Nigel, are nylon or rubber tires available for this nice kit? Have you encountered any problems with these kits? Thanks much for another great kit review. 🤙
