MIRROR'S EDGE CATALYST'S ACHIEVEMENTS were MISERABLE - The Achievement Grind 

Can I just say I am in love with the amount of effort in each and every video and seeing the subtitles makes me incredibly happy!!!

Ngl, I loved Mirrors Edge Catalyst and I loved the parkour and combat… ik some people didn’t like the open world but I really enjoyed it, it was fun being able to traverse in first person Assassins Creed esque parkour

Finally someone put into words why I had to force myself to play this game! Quite a few people I know have played it and complimented the open world, but when I played something just felt off. And it was, just as you said, somehow just completely linear

The crazy thing about the mirrors edge games is that i remember them being incredibly immersing, well done and very enjoyable to play. But thats it. No other memories. I played catalyst but i watched the whole video and did not remember or recognize a single thing.

I played an April Fool's joke on my parkour team this morning. They all fell for it.

That's the story? Here I was expecting a bit of a plot twist like maybe the Faith in this game isn't the Faith from the first Mirror's Edge. Like maybe Faith died on a job and someone (like Isabel) went to extreme measures to get her back... The memories could be false implants. Maybe Isabel witnessed Faith fighting the authority on her behalf and she escaped. The implanted memory could be that she imagined a sister who ran away after falling and wasn't there to pick her up... So now this clone of Faith thinks she was Isabel's sister and had to leave her behind and thinks she's a Runner, etc. Then the sister reveal can come later and maybe for a plot twist, Faith's actual sister from the first game is running the program? But I guess the only logical way to explain anything is "Forget the first game, it's a parallel universe where it plays out almost the same except Faith's sister changes and her childhood too..." How many people were credited as writers? Seriously?

The original Mirrors Edge is short enough to be fun. Trying to make it bigger just made its flaws obvious. Running is fun, but not foeever, especially with the ever same environments. Open world isn't really best suited for that game.

When the game came out, I remember it being touted as a reboot for the series, rather than alternate timelines, so yeah it was a really weird time.

Love the videos and resulted in me trying to get all the achievements of my favourite games. Keep up the good work!

These videos are seriously making me consider start 100% unlocking all achievements in my games, lol (or at least those not tied to DLC I can't buy or online achievements for dead games), I'm tempted to do this with this game just so you can know you didn't suffer it alone, lol, that's how much awesome your videos are! I played the first but didn't even know this game existed...the graphics look awesome for a game made in 2016. But what a BIZARRE freaking story, why choose to do it like that?? Ridiculous. amazing work thank you for this grind!!

Could you try getting all the achievements for PREY and We Happy Few? You may have to do 3 separate videos for We Happy Few (not including DLC), but you may be able to cram all 3 playthroughs into one video.

I always thought Catalyst was the prequel to the original game. I'm no expert in the first game's story but apart from the sister's name and mild plot game the two games' plots somewhat align

I didn't remember the story for the first game so the moment you said they had a plan to kidnap Isabelle is the exact moment I predicted that she was going to be Faiths sister lol 😂. I predict too much these days, I feel like plot twists are becoming way to common and predictable. 😂

With the Mirror's Edge: Catalyst servers down, consider yourself lucky to have achieving the Platinum before you no longer have the opportunity. (Albeit your saves are still kept in the EA cloud) Interestingly, the two positives you mentioned about ME:C are the very things that make me return to this game. I'm no fan of the story and the open world, but I love the aesthetics and I like to just stand on a high ground with no surveillance camera (so KSec won't be on my ass) and just enjoy the view to chill. When I fancy a run, I just run to random places and enjoy the suave parkour. I just wish there's the option to disable KSec after you've completed the game, perhaps with an animation of Faith asking Caitlyn/Isabel would order the KSec to stand down.

The commonly accepted reason for this game being a soft reboot of sorts is becuase the story in Mirrors Edge was the most criticized part and since it also sold poorly, the higher ups thought to just throw it out and try again. Except this time the story was even worse.

I like these achievements because most of them was easy to get, snd because it was easy to get ,it definitely worth doing them

I loved both mirrors edge games. The ONLY trophy problem I had was “Belle of the Ball” because no matter what I did it wouldn’t pop, few months later tried it again and boom use a little extra trick and it popped. Looking for grid links were a pain but it’s fine. The real challenge was being in the top 10% in the world in all run challenges.

I'm pretty sure the game is a reboot and it's not connected at all. The city is actually more advanced than the one from the previous game.

I love this game but the open world map feels weird and weirdly enough lacks verticality and openness. Its mostly linear section mixed with a few actually open areas. There an alley way that you go in hq raid mission and that level of verticality and the couple ways you can actually get down there or climb up (you got ac unit that can be used to drop down the whole building down to the alley and it's feels like some developer hid it for experience players to notice and use) even a simple option route option like this makes it feel much more open and the most fun i had in that game was figuring out routes the developers probably never intended players to use. Actually using ur head to figure out routes in a more open and interconnected world would feel alot better than mostly runing from a to b and rarely finding alternatives routes.

if I'm being honest, this game just felt like a whole ass fanfic someone made because they played the original Mirror's Edge and decided they could do it better but just did a ton of shrooms and shit out this game

I'm currently in the process of doing it myself and so far I can say: I have no fucking clue how I'm supposed to finsh half of these stupid races with a 3 star rating. Half the time I'm not even or just barely fast enough to get a 1 star.

honestly the world of mirrors edge would pretty much be a utopia if it weren't for the government being that controlling of everything. the whole environment looks really clean and well maintained, and I've been seeing a lot of green energy being produced in the city

I personally really enjoyed this game! I understand the criticism but it didn't stop me from obtaining the plat and loving every moment. (Still prefer the first game though.)

I don't no enything about this story but I think the reason for the parallel universe is the name of the game mirror's ege like mirror you see yourself into the reflection aka project reflect and in that reflection is you but in a parallel world I can see now were the name of the game comes from.

I really enjoyed catalyst when I played it. To me it was an amazing game

Bro was salty as hell. I haven't played the original Mirror's Edge, and enjoyed Catalyst. One of my favorite games. But even I ignored the story tbf, I just loved the timed challenges and running casually anywhere after completing it.

It’s an actual net zero game to make the plot that disconnected and unsatisfying?? Like what conclusions did the story come to? It really feels like the game fell prey to what was popular at the time and felt obligated to incorporate it, regardless of whether or not it fits. I also think that what made the missions in mirrors edge so exciting and able to be varied was the use of separate level design

Tbh, the it seems you have not played any *truly* bad games given the assigned rating. In my world if I imagine 2.5/10 game I'd envision broken gameplay, loads of bugs, ugly graphics, huge optimisation issues, etc. This game deserves a share of critique, but it is by any reasonable standard not as abysmal as a game can be.

Back in the day, the only positive thing that game gave me was a lesson to never preorder AND that EA is a scam company. It makes sense that Catalyst is a bad game. The first one was made with the intent to give developers a break by letting them run free with their creativity. The second one on the other hand yeah..... not so much

It's funny, I just finished this game for the first time last week. I never played it before either. I was also so disappointed. If you thought it was a slog, imagine how I felt, I had to play the first half of the game 3 times because my save file got corrupted. I also had a lot of performance issues. I think they made it open worlds, but smaller, or denser I think it would have been fine having it be open world. The delivery missions were fun, if not Super tight on the timing. Hated the Grid leaks and the electrical parts, They were so pointless, if you got something other than a stupid Glyph it would have been fine, at least the documents and Audio logs gave you lore. The last minor problem for me is Faith's design, throughout the game it was fine, but when you add the arm tattoo, her design feels unbalanced. Her left arm has nothing, and her right side has a Tattoo, an elbow brace, a Red glove, and all her Gadgets on it. IMO, they should have put the elbow brace and gadgets on her left arm, maybe even a sweatband, just to balance her design. Also, I remember when this was released/announced, they showed the scene of her getting her arm tattoo, which is the last thing that happens in the story... why show it off when it's the final thing? and why have it be the final thing? I feel like EA might have twisted DICE's arm a lot with this game. Forcing them into a large open world and other things. Hopefully DICE can do a 3rd game soon and NOT have it messed with.

Beware all those, who want to get the Platinum/1000G after today (December 8, 2023): EA have shut down the Catalyst online servers today, so you won't be able to unlock 2 trophies, which involve finishing 1 user-generated Time Trial and interacting with a user-generated Beat L.E. Basically, if you're from the future and read this, then RIP to your Platinum/1000G run.

It was such a shame that the game turned out so meh. They had a perfect formula in the first one but they fumbled it

Well get this 👄 i just found out that deliveries, decoys etc don’t count as “secondary missions” you have to complete… I have literally spent at least 15h doing just deliveries, i got like, 4 left in the entire map

I never played mirrors edge for its story or mission structure, i played for the movement and despite this being an objective improvement on that front, it just didnt live upto the original for me. Idk what is it. Is it the 'open world' being mid compared to the mission set peices? Was it the grapple hook effectively being a stop in momentum? I honestly dont know but this game just aint it.

When i played through the game, i got every achievement except for the time trials one, which was absolutely impossible. I swear, they expect you to be a 10 year veteran speed runner to do some of those. Ridiculous

This game is the best game I've played in the last 10 years. I enjoyed almost completely, save for certain dashes, deliveries and distractions. I hate most of them. Still the game is too good to let something like that ruin a complete experience. 100% it yesterday.
