The difficult to categorize back weapons in Armored Core 6's that are not part of the energy firearm, shield, or missile/homing back weapons. There's quite a variety of them despite the short list.

Can't wait for AC6 Arms analysis. I want to know Recoil Control works, because even with highest Recoil Control arms double trigger machinegun always make it inaccurate.

Near as I can tell from my own mucking around in the training room, some weapons (bazookas, shotguns, gatlings) just blast out way too much recoil for any amount of Recoil Control to handle, but having higher Recoil Control *will* cause your recoil to reset back to normal faster after using them. So a lot depends on your firing patterns and what you find yourself firing sequentially most often.

When you have that much recoil. The only difference is how much time it takes the arms to lose control, which honestly doesn't matter too much at SMG ranges. It's better to prioritise Tracking with arms such as NACHTREIHER.

Machine guns fire too fast, the next bullet comes before the recoil control is off cooldown. They are impossible to controll

a lot of that is just how the game works, not really a work around u can use. I will say tho, if you kinda pulse your shots instead of holding down the trigger the whole time it will tighten the bullet spread

The Morley is so insanely underrated for highly aggressive melee builds. The amount of pressure it puts on with its faster reload time is unparalleled. Morley into Viento Stagger/Laser Slicer/Kick/Morley is actually stupid. Especially against heavies who really just can’t dodge it.

Amen, swapped them in over songbirds and never looked back, at least as far as melee builds go. I practically never see anyone else run them, except for Freud of course

morley is not underrated: 1) it's too inconsistent 2) the firing stance for morley take way too long 3) they buffed it and it still sees no play (buff means noone played it before kr low win rate, fromsoft has the statistics)

…yeah. Of course nobody plays it, because it’s underrated lmao. If everyone used it it would be, by definition, not underrated. I’m in S rank and I use them on my heavy melee build. It’s the ac with one of my highest win rates. The 5 second reload is insanely good, and allows for readily available wombo combos. I never said it was the “best” weapon, just that it was slept on due to how surprisingly capable it is. Which is true.

Secret Morley benefit!: Many GLs and hard to hit enemies at or above you. This is why it's better to get above the target so you can hit the ground. The Morlies don't have this issue! You can poke people above you very easily, and even a single hit does pretty amazing impact!

10:12 Neat little fact about the pulse shield launcher is that the Bad Cook flamethrower can actually pass thru it, ironically enough considering it's bad vs pulse shields in general. CORRECTION: I've just tested it again in-game & it looks like that feature has been patched out, so fire no longer passes thru the shield launcher. It wasn't a meta strat, so it's a real shame it's no longer possible. I wonder which patch changed this, as it's not mentioned in particular in any of them.

@@lesslighter Probably, altho it'd have been a neat feature even if it wasn't intended. Would be cool if split missiles actively went around the shields tho, or the JVLN Beta weaving thru the gaps. Maybe the spin-to-win laser blade should be able to pass thru your own shield w/out destroying it. I dunno, SOME niche combo for such a rarely seen weapon...

i wish playing at 150m+ distances was more viable, reliably hitting anything in pvp or even pve besides giant bosses is so difficult and reduces build variety

They need to buff sniping and make it viable. Otherwise no one would be using those two Arquebus FCS.

You stand a good shot if you're shooting at a fodder enemy that's standing still, but I overall agree. I'd go as far as to say long-range assist on your FCS is the least useful stat in the game. I've tried making builds that could play at that range work but nothing besides missiles could reliably hit anything.

*The Fasan back mount plasma is effective at that range. Probably the best in my opinion. *Harris is ok, but the indicator popping up on a charge shot with it makes it extremely easy to dodge Lra energy rifles are good for kite strats but have terrible uncharged bullet velocity

The handheld bazookas are surprisingly good for that, after travelling 90m they get a proximity detonation. Essentially, the Majestic and Lil Gem get a projectile with a 16m diameter, while the Xuan Gi gets 18m, which is enough to make them threatening around 200m with some support. Similarly, the iridium grenade launcher automatically detonates around 250m, and the explosion is quite large. I don't disagree with you though, having dedicated snipers in the game would be great and would unironically kill the rat playstyle.

another fun use for the shield launcher, depending on your AB speed, kite builds can AB away from an opponent while deploying them, and they'll pop up behind you to block chasers

I would recommend using the laser turrents in duel, often on midweight kite. You simply gain such an advantage in overwhelming your opponent its like the laser drones in a sense, except you can have alot more of them on the field, and they last alot longer at the cost of what, not shooting them out instantly? It gives your opponent a false sense of security at the start of the game, thinking they can win before you ramp it up to the full potential. (they can't)

Thank you so much for posting this. I used to run Huxley on my LW CQC build, but found that it was way too easily dodged by the current metas in A rank. ORBT for me has been consistently harder to for people to dodge since I use Coq pistols, higher up time actually benefits me more when I have stupidly long engage times with rats, tanks, or tricking other LWs to redline. ORBT usually works best(in my case) when both of us are reloading and they’re forced to QB. Works great with anti viento builds since you dodge the viento bursts and punish them in the next 4 seconds. I still lose to anti CQC rats/tanks though hahah.

Laser Orbit is objectively inferior to Huxley, but honestly I would rather they nerf Huxley than buff ORBT. It's such an irritating close-range stagger weapon, since it can fire just fine regardless of animation locks. This would also have the knock-on effect of making the Shao-Wei more appealing, as most people regard it as kind of underwhelming. Also EULE is next to the ECM launcher as the """flares""" that everyone wants but nobody uses. Straight-firing missiles get totally blocked by these things.

Really wish we had a simple kinetic armor piercing sniper cannon for the back. Like the style that we had back in AC4. Would be cool to watch the reverse joints or quads. Actually bolt into the ground during the fire sequence or something.

I preferred the sniper cannons in ac5/VD, actually. They had absolutely insane range, but you had to stop and deploy them if you weren't using tank legs.

I don't disagree, but that kind of big cannon + lock-down setup reminds me more of Chrome Hounds than AC4, which was all about speed. ... I want another Chrome Hounds FROM! Or, at least, a PC release of the old one.

@@Raso719 It's been a while, but I thought the multiped legs had a special ability that let you lock yourself down for extra defense and/or firing stability? That said, I think CH also had a lot more emphasis on range (regardless of what range you built for) than the AC games and that lead to some interesting tradeoffs.

@@EpsilonRosePersonal I believe you are thinking of the heavy weapons in armored core v. And the quad legs definitely gave you a superior defensive bonus when you went into your firing stance. All the legs did but the bonus from quads was much higher if I recall

Laser Turrets is actually a very good weapon both for PVE against bosses or PVP, it has so much area denial ability while doing constant damage against mid-close range foes (which you mostly face), and it has pretty low EN cost and weight, allowing you to use stronger CQC builds. Besides, putting a lot of turrets up gives you Gundam vibes by shouting "FUNNEL!"

with the morly I think its high range is based on the central shells accuracy and not the surounding ones, I feel its aimed less at being a shot gun but at guarenieing a hit at range with a wide voly and punishing people who get close to you with high stager to force people to stay at midrange from you so pairing them with a weapon thats optimal midrange works very well with them although as a shotgun style weapon they ofc work very well as a all in melee/rush build even if the drone weapons are not optimal I will still use them, I love my bullet buddys

I always find these deep dives fascinating, but I'm really looking forward to your break down of melee weapons. It's a play-style I really like on a conceptual level and I want to try to abuse it in PvE, for its lack of ammo and ammo cost, but I've had some trouble putting together a build I'm happy with. Though, that might be partially due to my hangup on the Stun Baton and wanting to make a build centered on it, since it's the first melee weapon you get with a decent cool down speed. Actually, if you have the time and interest, I'd be really curious to see your take on an early-to-mid game, melee centric, PvE build.

You'd probably want to use it like the Laser dagger is used, so as punish weapon when you get a stagger.

@@HowlingDoom That's probably a more reasonable approach, but I was hoping to use it more as a primary, at least for relatively weak targets, to take better advantage of its quick cool-down and no ammo cost. Ideally, that would let me conserve the ammo in my other weapons for bigger fights and/or help to pad the end of mission score, though I'm not sure how well that can work out in practice. (Also, I just like the idea of a quick melee bruiser. I blame Gundam and the pile bunkers from Chrome Hounds.)

Grenades are nice to shoot from the air to the ground, and the morley also has a faster reload i like to put the morley sometimes

I'm curious... with FromSoft's historical hatred of long-range marksmanship, how would YOU build a proper sniper build in AC6? Like... sure you could take missiles and camp out at long range, but the fantasy of sitting on the edge of a battle and just gutting someone's AC with a clean shot is a strong one.

​​@@Verbose_Modeyou'd need an actual sniper weapon type if you'd want a proper sniper build. Closets things you can get now is pulse missiles+wing missiles hiding behind a pulse protection for cover

the charged shots on that new laser cannon have a huge projectile size and lingering hitbox, and after testing in the practice range on the enemy ac, it has a functional range of +550 meters (max lock-on distance). Havent tested in pvp because im console and dont have the necessary subscription, but considering it does at minimum 2k damage on unstaggered acs, i would give it a shot

My man skipped the Kranich. Y’all, it’s a god tier pve weapon. It does really good dmg. Shreds through pulse shields. A lot of enemy AC’s and bosses use pulse shields. Your accumulative impact on pulse shield AC’s is insane. It annihilates rank and file MT’s. It’s just a solid pick and forget S.W. It’s also hilarious in teams. So many people use pulse armor and shields in teams, and Kranich literally denies that gameplay. One of my favorite S.W. by far.

I've been using double laser turret using my lightweight build up to B rank. Sadly and unsurprisingly, people with more skill or tankier build can easily skip all those laser shots and quickly kills me, which i had to discard my setup altogether

Laser turret was really good for me in pve. You can def use 2 together and really hurt people. But I can't see it working I'm pvp

Hello Chrightt, thank you for your in-depth guide as always. I downloaded your spread sheet recently and I found out that some excel formula has been lost through the download process. I tried to fix them according to the web page version from your link, but I got different numbers from your web page version. For example, the OverheatDPS of VP-66LH Laser handgun On your spreadsheet using the formula =(H3*ROUNDUP(1000/N3))/(ROUNDUP(1000/N3)/M3+S3) and has the result of 213.5 On my downloaded version I used the formula =(H3*(ROUNDUP(1000/N3,2)))/(ROUNDUP(1000/N3,2)/M3+S3) the "2" after the comma is for the digit column of formula ROUNDUP and has the result of 205.2 I'm a little confused and would want to plead for your help. I understand it is purely charity work for you to spend time on my little question, but I would be glad if I can receive enlightenment from you. Thank you very much.

Wait does the type of generator used affect the dps of the orbits? I know that some generators juice laser damage the fuck up but do those actually change them or do they not benefit from that?

@@thatoneguyyouthinkshouldbe2431 That would seem to remove one of the major advantages of making them an energy weapon in the first place, though I suppose it makes sense that a remote drone wouldn't be effected by your internal generator. ... I wonder if they could make it effect their cool down instead?

Double laser turrets... Not very effective, but very funny if the sheer amount of incoming lasers causes the opponent to burn their EN dodging all the small rocks only to get hit by a boulder as a result.

Where is the laser drone that chases enemies? Do you categorize it under missiles? Edit: Yeah, you did... Although I think they're formally classified as orbit/turret type in the ingame sort, despite being homing.

Yeah, makes more sense to make them homing since they scale to the FCS too (edit: for lock-on time).
