The reaction of the public at the end of first movement: says it all. What a great performance! Muito Obrigado Hector.

The 2nd movement is unsurpassed. Nobody comes even close. His colour range is sublime and that beautiful expressive intonation giving the right direction to every note.

Some people don't play fast, because they can't, some - because they don't want to. Thanks.

It’s all about the individualism. What a personality! Absolutely loved this historical performance. Thank you for the upload.

what a find, the great Elman at his best. Every note has a meaning!

This goes against nearly all the things emphasized in modern violin teaching (e.g the indulgent violin entry in the opening that does not continue the orchestra theme seamlessly, massive slides Zukerman would refer to as "Schmier"), but it encapsulates teaching we need so much more of: play with all your heart and all your soul. The second movement should be mandatory listening for all modern Conservatory students. A magnificent artist, at the pinnacle of violin art.

True, now we are teached to play the same way around the globe. These old gentlemen had guts to just play as they feel
