Saw Danzig in '94 and The Misfits in '06 (Only on lead vocals). Both shows were great. I reached over a bunch of kids (I'm 33 btw) and he signed my ticket. I also lifted some crazy girl up on stage so he could sign her chest.
Met him and got a picture after a show in Louisville a few years back. Fucking AMAZINGLY cool dude, friendly and chatty with everyone, had a fan sing Die Die My Darling with him. Quite possibly the coolest person I ever met.
i agree with ramonexo jerry does care bout his fans and i think it's essencial for a performer 2 reach out and care for there fans i'm in a band and we alwayz make sure the crowd is happy but yea jerry is a very nice guy a badass bassist and a hell of a good singer
It is kind of odd that Jerry's own brother doesn't want to be in the band right now. And the fact that Michale Graves said he would sing for them again if Jerry called him up and Jerry hasn't yet. The late '90s line-up was the best. I really wish either Doyle or Graves would come back. Then I would gladly see the Misfits live and shell out the cash. Come on Jerry! Do it for the fans!
i like all three eras(original,90s,post-graves);i like the original band the most, but i still like the modern guys.i just look at them as three similar, yet different bands.
Jerry has always signed stuff if I asked (stolen tour posters included!).. Real nice, down to Earth (AD) guy - hope he gets a new singer and keeps going another 20 years. If anything the popularity of the Misfits has risen year by year until now goth and emo kids think I'M a poseur by wearing Misfits stuff.. Been into them since I was 12, now 28.. I used to get battered for being a 'rocker' when I was a kid, nowadays I would have gotten laid! I admire the fans who've been there from the start
Very true. It was 95 when this happened. Samhain had been gone for a long time then. Glenn has had a successful musical outing after that. However.....he did agree to do a reunion tour in Germany recently until Jerry refused to let it be billed as "The Misfits-featuring Glenn Danzig". A LOT of money was on offer....but of course they could not agree on anything. I think Glenn wanted people to know that Michael Graves would NOT be singing. Can you blame him?
Fuck can't a person watch a video about Jerry without a bounch of jerks with the "I miss Danzig" speech, we get it! On another note was that Dez on the back? I would have asked him a bounch of questions too xD What a cozy sweet little interview xD and it was all on Jerry being super nice and open to answer some random drunk guy's question.
Is this in Norway? sounded like some of the guys were talking Norwegian, and the girls name Ingrid is quite common around here. Saw them live here in spring of 06, really kicked ass!
If my memory serves me correctly, I remember hearing from a friend that Jerry and his brother Doyle use to make their own guitars and custom gear out of their family owned machine shop.
A new invention of the comb-over=The comb-down, all in one narrow clump. Does it mask the baldness? Nah...But he's still an okay guy. I knew him when he was a 17 yr old baby boy, on his school football team, trying to be a Punk off hours. A "weekender" at the time.
@soppetive Yeah, i remember reading that, ironic thing is... 5 years before that Doyle was with Jerry at Glenns hotel asking him to get back with them, Glenn called security on them and had them removed, what a guy. MOTHER!!!!
Btw, dont say doyle hates his bro, or would never do a show with him bla bla bla, cuz thats not true. Doyle himself said when asked, "Would you ever do a reunion with jerry, (asked infront of danzig as well) Doyle responded "Im down for whatever, doesnt matter to me". Then he looked at danzig and said "its up to this guy". So doyle WOULD do a show with jerry, but not without danzig. As he said "Cant make a sandwhich without the bread". Danzig ofc said he most likely wouldnt with danzig.
The reason the audience is 23 years and younger is because anyone older than 24 is wise enough to realize that Jerry has turned the "Misfits" into a huge fucking joke. Glenn wrote every fucking lyric and every fucking song. Is Jerry the Tony Soprano of Punk? Well...if it's about family ,then where is Doyle? Jerry's son is slated to inherit the band's name. There woulda been a Misfits reunion in Germany, but we all know how Jerry dropped the dumbbell on that.
I may be alone on this but I think Glenn Danzig is an amazing talent... I also think Jerry Only is awesome. Danzig has more talent but both are great. J. Only seems more concerned with the image portrayed to kids than Danizg does.
I like that Marky kept on jamming, and calls it "Marky Ramone's Blitzkrieg" instead of RAMONES So why doesn't Jerry Only call it "Horror Business" instead of MISFITS? You have to respect the misfits, but really, he wasn't even the founding member!
Hate to take sides in the misfits vs. Danzig debate, but Jerry always comes off as a pretty nice guy in interviews, while Danzig usually has a chip on his shoulder.
bmcginley you are talking out of your ass. Jerry is out there busting ass, bringing The Misfits music & experience to fans young and old. He is one of the most generous, caring people I have ever met in the business, & he is passionate about the Misfits fan base & legacy, which is more than I can say for Glenn. If you don't like the 1995 and later Misfits lineups, don't buy the albums or support the tours. But to slag Jerry and call him "a piece of shit" is spiteful, hateful and classless.
I'm certainly not calling Glenn a saint,by any means...Jerry,to his credit, basically put alot of money into it,and ended up being screwed by Glenn for a long while. How Glenn had control over the name for 12 years is something I never could figure out. But I do feel Glenn was tired of Jerry's shenanigans(kicking Bobby Steele out in order to get his little brother-"Doyle" in....) and had enough.
whatever... danzig and jerry went separate paths in music i like danzig's misfits better, but jerry's misfits give it a LOT more flavor and originality
@libraalbert91 Im not really sure man there were so many reasons but im a dumb-ass for cutting it thats all that matters HAHA. Damn it was pretty sweet to.
Not gonna deny Bobby Steele bein' difficult, but Doyle was taught guitar by Glenn....not Jerry. Bobby is many things but being inferior to Doyle is just ridiculous. Listen to Bobby's riffage on the Undead's "Invisible Man' single. Probably my fave song o' his. He really should not have attempted his own "12 Hits from Hell",though. Fucking awful.
