This is Part 2 of a mini-series called “Misfits.”
Pastor Tullian's main point in this series is to show that we are misfits fitted together by the misfit God who seeks out the lost and the guilty and the fearful and the broken.
So cheer up, we are all card carrying members of God’s beloved lunatic fringe 😊.
We hope this message encourages you…
Mark 2:16-17

Tullian - thank you for mentioning how we become Pharisees to the Pharisees…it’s so true…if I really think about it, I realize that I am both the prodigal AND the older brother…and GOD welcomes me in both states 😊

Dear Pastor Tullian, I love to visit The Sanstuary, because I am recovering from horrible spiritual abuse by those whom you call the grumblers.🤪🤪 That in my estimation, is some of the worst things people can inflict on another. I am slowly getting better as our Lord teaches me the greatness of His love and grace.❤❤

Wow. My only concern is that I'm not hearing the requirement to believe and to accept Jesus and GOD'S grace. Is that something you simply assume for everyone? I was raised in the following church categories: Presbyterian, Methodist, and Christian Science. I learned that God is love, but I was never taught that God loved me. I mean why would He? I'd never accomplished anything I thought would be worthy. And one day, in one of my 2 or 3 states of depression, I remembered Frank and Ernie, a pair of gerbils I was given, along with a coffee table and a job. Erie was a special needs gerbil with one deformed front paw and only one hind leg. Bert was his buddy and helped him run on their wheel. When I got married we lived in an apartment upstairs above the home owner. The gerbil house sat on a broad ledge at the top of the stairs. One day, opening the door after work, I found both of them at the bottom of the very steep stairway. Bert had figured out how to open the cage door and they went adventuring, tumbling down the steps. This was repeated everyday as long as we lived there. Anyway, I recalled how much I loved and cared for those goofy little creatures regardless of their shenanigans and it occurred to me that if I could love and care for them no matter what, then certainly God, the Creator of all that is (including even me) must love me too and not just generically but specifically. So, by the influence of two gerbils, a couple of TV preachers, and Jim Coy's Cavalry Chapel in Wellington, FL, I became born again. To have a personal relationship with Jesus is more than I ever knew was possible! I got to see you in person at your Christmas Eve service a couple years before you left Coral Ridge . How refreshing! They certainly lost a chance to understand the Gospel when they lost you. If I still lived in FL I would be at the Sanctuary every Sunday. (I'm in Missouri now) I'm so grateful to hear/see your sermons on the web. Thank you for being you and for all you are doing. Victoria Reichmann
