I have to avoid Canada at all cost because even if you have a misdemeanor on your criminal record, that’s 45 years old (which I do),, they will pull you to the side and interview you even if you’re going through on a connecting flight, they are very strict. They don’t care how long ago it’s been since your last run-in with the police, you need to have a clean record going through Canada because you have to go through immigration no matter what even if it’s for connecting flight
Get the Global Entry for $100 through TSA. Good for 5 years. Shows you’ve gone through an extra background check. Also try not to carry close to the $10k or above in currency. They can confiscate it and can be a bitch and take years and legal fees to get back.
Both EVA and Korea air are good. I fly out of Texas so I overnight in SFO or SEA and continue on the next day. It takes the edge off. From there it's one stop and it's straight into Cebu. This last time I flew EVA return and had an 8 hour layover in Taipei, that sucked. I'm looking forward to trying Philippine Air. I understand that they've just started some direct flights. Not sure if they're into Cebu or Manila.
Canada......can kiss my. Used to be a great country but a certain party took over a few decades back and I hope they're happy with what they have now.. As far as long travel the cheap way always gets you wishing you hadnt been cheap! If I cant afford business class I don't go until I can afford. 100% worth it. Thanks for sharing your trip home
,II've dicided that it is so much better to get a direct flight anymore < So much less hassle !! This is one flight you'll never forget for sure !! Welcome back !!
Next time pay up and fly direct or "1" stop. No more local trains!! 🤣. And they say it's more fun in the Philippine's!!🤣. Welcome back to the PH!! ~ Peter PS- Go Cathay Pacific trough HK- Best Layover and short flight!!
About a week ago I flew direct from SFO to Manila with United and had NONE of those problems. In fact, while on the flight, when we were two hours out from landing, they came on intercom, and started telling everyone they might want to fill out their eTravel stuff, or it might be a problem for them. LOL
Non stop is worth a little more. Every time the plane lands there is more chances for things to go wrong. Lost luggage. Missing connections. No aircraft available for the next leg . Non stop 👍🏻
Sounds like normal travel that gets chalked up to experience. All airports have different triggers and they change over time. One thing I've found about ticket cost, is that the between bigger airports are usually cheaper. Google flights can help you with finding the cheapest route, then wait for the price to be good. My upcoming USA airfare RT from Clark to Chicago is $1300, just 1 stop and 22 hours. Got a one way Rent a car to my final destination.
Wow, Gio. The trip hasn’t been easy so far. I’m so surprised the security took so much time testing the Greek seasoning. That is weird. Scanning your laptop seems unusual too. What are they looking for - images of child pornography?? Then trouble with your carry-on luggage, etc. Boy, you’ll be relieved to finally get home!
Why didn't you take the flight with philippines airlines on economy? It be going Minneapolis to Dumagete via LAX and Manila would of been more direct and avoided Canadian customs.....that's what i do everytime i go there...btw air Canada is 👎
Why do they scan your laptop? What does it do? I heard someone tell me they made him open his phone and they looked through his phone. Is that even legal?
They scan phones. PC etc and copy everything for the TSA anc security reviews and they see e everything on ur PC or phone in the duplicate they already got from ur pc etc. A a fukn ruthless violating people right.
I’m not sure about Canada, but looking through your phone, laptop, tablet, etc in the U.S. …without a warrant is a violation of your 4th Amendment rights. They can test those items for various things, but they aren’t supposed to look through them.
Gio im going to cebu from Chicago. Family of 4 one infant for 3300. We use cheapoair. We are one stop in South Korea. You shouldn't have to pay 2000 plus.
I normally fly direct LAX to Manila with PAL. I’m leaving the end of the month and decided to save money with 2 layovers. Hawaii and then Tokyo. I’m hoping it all goes smoothly 🤞
They also harass men traveling alone with a one-way ticket.. There's several reasons why somebody would buy a one-way ticket but they apparently think the worst and harass you instead
When I flew back to the States on Korean air and then connected on United, it was so depressing. You go from super beautiful ladies dressed to the nines to 250lb. women that really don’t care about customer service.
Glad you made it back safely. I live here in the Philippines also and will not fly in or out of Manila anymore. I fly out of Cebu on Emirates. It might cost a little more but it is worth it
Just back to USA from the Phillpines and I flew United from San Franciso to Manila nonstop the only drawback bring that that flight leaves San Franciso around Midnight. Korean air is good airline.
My man. Love your channel. Why not Delta out of MSP to South Korea and then South Korea straight to Cebu? Avoid all this Canada stuff, avoid Manila, avoid all these extra stops. I know it's more, but less aggravation.
That’s why I fly business class on Philippines airlines. Direct flight. Relax in the executive lounge before your flight. Business class always boards first. No lay over. No delays. No issues.
Sounds like Gio had a very frustrating trip but I like how he just rolled with it, good coping mechanism. Glad your back in your adopted country and your beautiful wife makes the long trip worth it. 🇵🇭
@@marvinphillips1326 I agree that Business Class is the way to go but some of these airlines charge way too much. Philippines Airlines Business Class is one of the worst business class seats you can get. A year ago they had reasonable prices but now…it’s crazy.
Just finished a round trip to the U.S. Direct flight on Philippines airlines to LA from Manila, economy. Paid an extra $120 to get an empty seat next to me. Well worth it as a guy in the row thought he would lie down and sleep next to me. Told him a firm no. Then a direct flight back from SFO to Manila on Philippines airlines. Everything was smooth.
Much prefer Eva, we were Premier Elite with PAL for over a decade when we lived in California but now use EVA since we moved to Florida, Houston/George Bush-Taipei- Manila or Cebu which ever works, if we fly into Manila we overnight before heading to Tacloban.. worth the $$, btw, you seem like a decent guy, suck it up and bring your wife here to States and get her citizenship, as you grow older it is the best situation as while the Philippines is livable, it won't be in a natural disaster, health crisis, or geopolitical scenario out of your hands😉😁
wow that's allot of layovers & stops going from the US to the Phils How long were you in transit from the time you left the 1st US airport until landing in 'Duma ?
Singapore airlines and Changi airport are second to none in my opinion. Then Korean Air second… But Singapore airlines prices need to improve, they’re pricey compared to what they were.
I've been to dozens of countries. No one comes close to the ridiculous overbearing attitude of Canadian customs and immigration,. Total power tripping. I'm Canadian living in Phils with 13A visa for 15 years. Still dread going to Canada due to the attitude of customs and immigration.
Hello Gio, Im in Dipolog City right now. I have always used Delta Airlines to Incheon and then Korean Airlines to Cebu for all my trips. But it cost me over $4100 this time. OUCH. I will find something better next time. Dumaguete was a nice place for a couple of days too. Take care.
Gio i thought you might have problems without an onward ticket. In a previous video. But you are normally so together i just made some mild comment. But you were busted. Lap top strip searched😢😮😮😢😢😢, not sure thats even legal. Shucks i am not impressed
On recent trips to the pi Short connection times are the biggest no no take away for me, The Asian airlines will try and go the extra mile to make it happen for you, but a couple hour layover is worth the lack of stress making a connection. LA and San Francisco or JFK, Newark don't do it. Missing your 10 hr flight to the S Pacific is not fun or cheap Yes, flying into Manila, I always grab a room at the Oyster Plaza , near airport terminals, Grab taxi the next day, easy peasy, Good advice
This is why I dont bother with the Phillipines Flying into Bangkok KL Seoul or Dubai Singapore and many other places is so much easier Air travel to the Phillipines is toxic.
What a bunch of BS brother so-called illusion of security. This shit doesn’t happen in other countries only in the west. I’ve been in the Philippines now for over seven weeks and loving every minute of it, brother. Travel safely 🙌
Emirates all the way best airline , no dramas , 3 hour lay over in Dubai airport which is maybe he best in the world ! And With Emirates Economy lcass being so good and roomy no need to buy Business class !! Flown at least 15/16 times to SE ASIA with them !
A video I saw recommended flying into Thailand then directly into Cebu. How about Minnesota to California to Hawaii. Stay a day or two in Hawaii then Thailand then Cebu. I heard Emirates airline is good also.
You were lucky with the spices. I had similar instance going through Singapore. They wanted to open container to inspect. When I got to Manila they wanted to inspect it also. BUT because the seal was now broken I was not allowed to keep. The joys of international travel.
I'm so sorry for all the bulshit you went thru. This is what it is now. not like before. I hope you're ok and arrive safely to see your wife. Welcome back to the Philippines!!
OMG. Didn’t they see that the seal wasn’t broken yet? I guess I was lucky. I brought the same stuff along with a big bottle of bbq dry seasoning and didn’t get checked. By the way that Cavenders is made right here in Arkansas and it’s the best. Great on fried cabbage among other veggies
I always pay extra for as direct as possible flights. It’s been a while since I flew through Seoul. They had free showers and bathrooms upstairs last time I was there. It was bigger than a Tokyo hotel room. 😂
I am exhausted just watching the long journey online. I think I will go and lie down now for a nap. I will remember not to get Greek food when I travel also. LOL
6 weeks ago, I had a heffer at SW Airlines in Houston try to argue with me that I was "Required" to have a return ticket to the United States to board. Sorry, this one has escaped the rate race!😂😂😂😂
When a country gives a permit to an airline. The airline agrees to certain requirements. One of which is to require passengers to show proof of an exit ticket to that country. Airlines are subject to large fines and can lose the permits to fly if they allow one way tickets. This process helps said countries with immigration laws. Basically they get the airline to screen passengers for them.
Taipei and incheon are awesome airports. Came through them multiple times. Flying back into Cebu in Oct. Flying through Singapores Changi international. Gonna be a 16 hour flight but is what it is.
Please consider to vlog an explanation of _simp_ . I'm unclear about simp. Has the simp met his girlfriend ? If a man helps support his girlfriend, is he a simp ? What is the definition of _simp_ ?
Glad you made it back Gio, I don't envy you for the traveling. I used to do it for over a decade and got sick of the hassle and all the arrogant security, attendants, agents, border guards and whomever was involved. Once I was flying home to Canada with Air Canada and in YYZ, after clearing immigration, I went downstairs to get mu checked in luggage and a small hound dog walked up to me, all excited. This arrogant middle aged woman followed with a superiority complex, informing me that I might have suspicious stuff in my luggage. So she sent me into another room where my luggage were dissected and turns out the that dog smelled the one remaining sandwich I didn't eat on the plane. This was in my carry on bag tho, My Gf made those for me for the long trip. Told the officer that I had like 9 of those to start with. He asked me where is the rest (idiot) Told him "it's in my belly, cause I ate it all and I can throw the last one in the garbage, which I did. They wanted to fine me over $850- for this, but I talked my way out of it. SO long story short, Do not take any food with you, especially spices or meat products. They will pull you a side. Canadian security also scans you and rolls your hand for drugs, if you have substantial cash on you. I learned this the hard way. Always have a few apples and a water bottle and before going thru security check, empty the bottle and place it in their bin. Once you go thru security, just re fill it at a bar or washroom. Apples are ok and security cannot confiscate empty bottles. Go figure
The flights I took in 2018 and 2019 from Tampa to Manila do not exist anymore. What is available and acceptable times cost 3 or 4 times more money now. It is not convenient to travel by plane anymore, especially international travel. I believe we will see a huge drop in tourism all over the world for awhile.
May of 2023 I traveled to the Philippines. Cebu is where I ended up. Had all of my stuff in two carry-ons. No problem on three different aircraft from two different airlines. Head back home a month later and one of my carry-ons is suddenly too big. It had to be checked. Different airlines, but the exact same type of plane. I tried telling the ticket agent that it would fit just fine, but once they get something in their head you are going to do it their way. On that trip they were still checking covid vaccinations. No one has ever asked for my etravel registration until I've arrived in my destination country (Philippines). And half the time they don't even ask for it there. They've always checked for an onward ticket before leaving the states.
Oops on onward ticket, Oops on etravel form. Korean Air is a great airline. My layover in Incheon was always 4 hours there from Florida though, can't sleep on those hard benches either (don't get any sleep in the air). lol...doesn't look like you got much either. Glad you made it back otherwise as am sure all your subscribers are. Rest up Gio, seeya laterz...Jim
😎👍🇺🇲 I don't envy that trip. You must have picked up the "go with the flow" attitude and brought it with you 👍 I'm glad the flights, layovers and waiting in lines all becomes a blurr later on. I can't figure out how I managed a 11+ hour layover in Taiwan without going out of my mind. Maybe my mind was already out when I got ther?? Cheers ✌️
I feel your pain or frustration, whatever you want to call it. I have been flying back and forth from here to the US every 4 months for the last three years. It has become a drain on my finances and my body. It's not bad the first few times, but after trip 5 or 6, it starts to become tiring, especially if you have to haul a** across the entire airport to catch your connecting flight. I have tried several airlines. Qatar, Turkish, and Delta. None them compare to Korean Air. Korean Air is just better in every way , specially the airport in South Korea, as you mentioned. If you have a long layover, they have a nice sleeping area for transfer flights. It's free. The only thing is it is sometimes full because it is open to all. They are by far my favorite. Unfortunately, they partner with Delta for the last hour flight to my hometown. But otherwise, I use Korean Air the rest of the way. I have had many of the same issues you have talked about. The different airlines have swapped stuff in my bag. I asked, and they said it was for explosives. I have also been asked to step out of line for various reasons. Some airlines allow 23 kg some only 20 kg. So that and the return ticket. I also used onward from your link. Works with no difficulty at all. Quick and easy fix. Also, most Korean Air aircraft have USB charging ports on the seat now. So, I do not worry too much about trying to charge my devices. Anyway, I am glad you are home safe.
Definitely the business class lounge food is pretty good and it's another good place to wait to your flight. I like to go to the sleeping lounge area after grabbing some free food in the business lounge. All around makes the journey way better.
