I really enjoyed this year. It's hard to believe how talented and well-rounded this group was in hindsight, considering the dregs we get from MAO these days. Most had knock out or very good talents. And Stacy James was recovering from Bell's Palsy which caused paralysis on one side of her face. She was an awesome singer, and kind of looked like Jessica Lange. Patricia Brandt was phenomenal. I have never seen a better ventriloquist act before or since.
The first runner-up, Miss Louisiana Patricia Brant, was the most hilarious contestant ever. Her singing double ventriloquist act had to be seen to be believed!
Poor Miss GA, she was SOOO DISAPPOINTED. I felt bad. Thought she was a strong contender. I was also surprised that WI wasn't up there in the TOP 10. FL, VA and TX were not my first choices for TOP 10
you are correct to a degree. In my opinion in the last few years many of the Miss America winners are very matronly. in the last 10 years I have liked Angela Perez, Miss America 2001, Heather French, and Jennifer Berry, the rest have been ok to me, what do you think?
That proves the contest is more about overall appeal and not just looks (which in my opinion is what these contest should be about). I personally knew Miss Colorado, yes she is beautiful but she was intelligent and talented. Nevada must have had a broad appeal in all areas for the judges to consider her.
Your Miss Colorado was a narcissistic Hillary type who thought she should have won. When Collins called her runner-up position, she hogged the stage and stood there holding up the show with her arms out and saying look at me look at me, oh, I'm so wonderful. Then, when she was finally PULLED across the stage, she kept her arms out drawing attention to herself and holding the others up. What a self-servicing hag.
If I understand correctly what you claim above regarding the judging for that night for that specific yr, you are 100% wrong. Right before the last competition that nite, evening gown, gary collins announces to the audience how judging was going to be done that night, and it was a rather radical change from previous yrs. The final scores, per what he states ended up being: 25% talent, 25% swimsuit, 25 % evening gown, and 25 % carried over from the prelims. The 60% deal goes way back.
I had to stop watching the video half way through. It wasn't just the quality of the video, but those dresses were so god awful that I honestly felt myself getting seasick
that is very true, I wasnt a judge. The overal appeal should be looked at,let's be honest, nevada, wasnt that pretty, you have to admit that? but that is why we have judges, I am happy for her,
Thank you for saying that, I thought I was the only one who thought that. Trump has turned what used to be a fun evening of entertainment into his own personal "I have an apartment for you" show. BLECH.
your comment is off-base. Trump never owned Miss America. He owned Miss USA and Miss Universe, which is a totally different program with different judging criteria
