You have to launch them for the prop to grab, don't be afraid to toss it forward a little harder, also with hydros sharp turns to the right will also let the prop grab. Once going and on plane never let off the throttle. Nice boat for sure!!
Although craig wasn't very nice in his comments, he was correct. When you get the boat started, you need to toss it in the water to help get it up on plane. ProBoats are sort of bad for this. Is this the older version of the boat with the solid drive shaft? Or does it have a flex shaft and a skeg under the back of the hull?
The reason hydro's don't go onto plane is because of prop cavitation. All hydro's have a cavitation problem. Not just pro Boats. Yes you should give them a strong level launch but they also come off plane as well after they are on plane, like slowing down in a turn or to avoid another boat. If your running a hydro and it comes off plane the best way to get them on plane again is to turn sharply to the right, this will let the prop grab and get the hydro on plane asap. When this boat was launched I would have idled it away from the dock/shore giving me enough room to give it full throttle and turned sharply to the right to get the boat on plane.
+kevin burns my ul-1 hydro would plane out from a dead stop going in a straight line. I think maybe it has to do with prop angle and overall tuning and balance
I realize this vid is 7 years old now but my first time seeing it. You guys did a great job that engine couldn't run much better & did you notice how the boat lags in the water until it gets up on a plane then has instant acceleration? That's why they call this hull design a Hydroplane it runs on top of the water instead of through the water like a V hull boat. The pull start was something we never had the luxury of with our nitro boats & it's a great feature. I hope whoever has this boat takes good care of it as it is a Vintage Hydroplane increasing in value.👍👍
JBE if you start it and then shut it off start the video and then start the boat again it starts really nice, I've been thinking about doing an electric conversion though
I would've converted to electric brushless Lipo I used to have one of these and they really do suck trying to get them on plane. I went electric brushless with lipo power batteries and I'll never go back. Instant power faster longer run times
+Jon Dor If you are talking about the shoes they are an athletic shoe that preps your foot to run and they make pretty damn good aqua socks if you ask me!!
You can find some solution for this, put other cap from plastic bottle... Or seal the original cap and refill the tank like planes, put a plane tank.... I have mounted one on my miss bud
I have the dynamite 15 as well but I need a carburetor for it mine is stuck shut and I would really enjoy being able to run it. If you could help me out in any way by trying to find a new one it would help a lot because parts for these engines are hard to find and I cant find one

Sam Johns Yep, it is super fun. I now need a new pull start though and my cousin ( the one in the video) needs a new phone, the last time we were out on the lake we were starting it on the swim step of his boat and the cord came out so instinctually he jumped in after it not wanting to loose it and he had his phone in his pocket.... oops HAHA
