There are 4 famous international beauty pageant in the World including Miss World, Miss Universe, Miss International and Miss Earth.
Miss France is a French beauty pageant held every December in France. The contest was first held in 1920 and has been ongoing since 1947.
There was no competition from 1921 to 1926 due to rebranding process.
In 1935, amid controversy over the Saar Basin Territory becoming German territory four months before to the contest, Miss Elisabeth Pitz resigned two hours after being named Miss France. She was replaced by Miss Préville, her first runner-up.
There was no competition from 1941 to 1946 due to World War II.
Miss France Arlette Collot 1964 was dethroned for refusing to travel throughout France as part of her official duties, and was replaced by Gayraud, her first runner-up.
Miss France Taurua 1978 was resigned the title shortly after winning due to her wishing to remain in New Caledonia and not move to Paris. She was replaced by her first runner-up Brigitte Konjovic.
Miss France Turpault 1983 was dethroned after being discovered that she had participated in an erotic photoshoot. She was replaced by her first runner-up Frédérique Marcelle Leroy.
Miss France Sophie Perin 1975 was crowned Miss International 1976
Miss France Élodie Gossuin 2001 was crowned Miss Universe 2001
Miss France Iris Mittenaere 2016 was crowned Miss Universe 2016
