I love how the first sequence in this opening is a tribute to Nichijou, with the camera zooming into each character. Truly warms my heart considering that I adore both animes!
of course! i find it so fascinating how they took her mythological goddess and put in the anime it’s so nice to share even the slightest portion from another culture
Judging from the first op (season 1), isn`t Lucoa supposed to be a black dragon too? The horns also do not match, so I would rather guess the huge one is Ilulu or some other character.
It may have a season 3 but since the main person who devolved dragon maid died while working on season 2 I think this series was just a tribute for there hard work that they died making. I hope for a season 3 tho but I'm glad they finished there work and honored them
@@MoniBunn yeah for real. Kinda still sad that people leaked who died. Seems the family and the animation studio wanted that kept secert and put upon the family's choice Only.
I miss nichijou, it was the first anime i ever watched (besides pokemon but that doesnt count) and its still one lf my favorite animes ever The fact there probably never will be a season 2 makes me sad
Idk I'll stick to this one. Something about them honoring Yasuhiro Takemoto at 1:13 with his name paired with that beautiful animation is just perfect.
the fact that Luccoa's dragon form is both impressively huge, and yet so looks like her just makes me giggle. She is as far as I know the largest of the group, yet looking at her dragon form, you know that is her. She makes the other dragons look like toys, and yet she dances to a flute
*Translated Lyrics:* Sing along, pa pa-ra pa pa Back to the time, pa pa-ra pa pa Swing along, pa pa-ra pa pa Place to be, pa pa-ra pa pa Sing along, pa pa-ra pa pa Back to the time, pa pa-ra pa pa Swing along, pa pa-ra pa pa Place to be, pa pa-ra pa pa A girl appears with charming wings! She is invincible, wonderful, shocking, stimulating! Everyone spontaneously starts spinning; even God starts dancing. The hall is shaking, they get excited, and sure enough, there is peace and joy! We sometimes get lost in the gaps between our days, don't we? At such times, a light gently shines before our eyes! It is boring to dig through boring things. It was us until yesterday who got stuck in such a hole. You don’t need claws and don’t need to fly in the sky. We can be anything we like with this party. Come on! Magic! A magic that you cast on me Buddy! Stimulates me Praying! Even though it's tiny, Flowers bloom all around the world with your magic. Lighten! I’ll run through the darkness. Supreme! All that is needed is love. Everything I receive from you is like a message. Keep shining on me until the end. When you hold hands with me, I feel like I love you.
To the people who have not read the lucoa spin off, the Colossal dragon in the background is her, and no, she was never black in color, the first opening did it cause her form wasn’t revealed yet.
1:13 That part always makes me tear up, because even after that arson killed members of the show, they were still able to make this Plus, it's super adorable watching them descend together like that
The name being credited as Kobayashi and Thor come down from the sky is : "Series Director - Yasuhiro Takemoto". He died days after the arson attack. So this shot is an obvious spiritual tribute.
@MichaelJackson kyoani does things more on the lighter side of things, both vagabond and punpun are both pretty intense in their own way besides they're both pretty lengthy in chapters, which isn't exactly the kind of thing kyoani does most of the time anyway. For stuff like that mappa would be the go to especially since they've done stuff like dorohedoro and will be doing chainsaw man soon (would love to see fire punch animated by them). Mappa has a massive quantity of animators to handle stuff like long mangas although they do need to fix their work environment situation along with how the animators for the chainsaw man trailer got paid barely anything
@Get Some Sleep Stuff like Beserk really isn't KyoAni's forte. It's a little difficult to describe, but their style tends to work best with slice of life shows or things with very little action. Just saying, I liked Beyond the Boundary, but the fight scenes always felt slightly lacking.
Of all the anime i've watched so far, nothing has given me peace of mind like Dragon Maid. Its absolutely amazing how i can just watch this show and simply relax. I love it
I get the feeling the 1M views are just like 5,000 people watching this on repeat Update: currently we have 50 replies, once we hit 69 replies do not ruin it
Guys Maid Dragon 2 is the restart of Kyoto Animation they are sensational, no wonder I consider them the best Animation Studio. this season 2 of Maid Dragon not only represents Studio's return to life, but also represents the memory of those who departed in the incident with the psychopathic killer. and season 2 is practically a tribute to all of them. I'm really happy to see KyoAni back in action, they're starting their story all over again and I hope something bad like this never happens again. Animation, Kyoto Animation forever.
What the ultimate triumph would be: Tie the arsonist to a chair and force him to watch both seasons of Dragon Maid and all of K-On before they hang him.
I just searched up about what happened about the fire and now this hits different. RIP to those who died and I hope the love for this show honors them in some way.
im honestly on both sides. cos i really really enjoy this anime and the animation is MOUTH WATERING MAN. but i think ilullus character design shouldnt look like a whole 7 year old. BUT IM STILL WATCHING IT! ive been waiting years for this
It makes me cry Viloet evergarden made me cry, it was honestly beautiful. I honestly think the animation really help sell it and the studio blessed everything that touched it it makes me sad till this very day :(
@@fdsfd1 They Died cuz of an arson, caused by a mentally unstable and sociopathic person who believed himself that the animation studio plagiarized his work when in fact, they didn't Even had any idea who he was.
I thought the same thing, like nobody is talking abt it but she is probably like the size of like the entirety of New York City just by how she looks in the op
Well, Qutzalcóatl is one of the most important gods in ancient México, that's probably the reason why she's so massive in both her dragon and human form
Those 3 seconds from 1:10 to 1:13 capture Ilulu's character so completely... it chokes me up every time she's reaching for her lost doll, and everything she lost with it.
I realized this OP was basically a flex on the arson who set fire to the studio office. Showing him they are still strong and honoring the people who lost their lives with their work
no is a reference of the previous slice-of-life anime they've made, some side characters are drawn exacly in the Nijicho style, and they even camped in the same river making same camping food
We honestly didn't deserve an intro that goes this hard. We are all degenerate heathens and this is so much more than we are entitled to. But they went this hard just for us, and I can't express the joy it brings me.
Lucoa is from the Neutral faction, it's the dragon faction where are all the most powerfull dragon in their world, because they are so strong than no other dragon from the order faction and the chaos faction are strong enough to force them to join the fight.
0:55 And now we see why Lucoa's proportions are so large. Her dragon form is freakin' huge!!! Like how many miles away from the others is she do you suppose?
I left a comment on the video of Season One's OP recalling a joke I made about Season Two possibly not being able to top the original and lamenting the fact that we might not ever get a second OP for this show given the tragedy that happened at the time. I am very, very happy to say that I was absolutely wrong on both counts.
God I love this OP... I've seen it so many times, and I think it's really amazing. My favourite thing is that it starts off all fun and playful at a rapid speed. But as it keeps going the OP slows down more and more, the dull seriousness of Tohru and Kobayashi's life starts to become more into focus, until Tohru grabs Kobayashi's hand and breaks away from the monotony, as well as the rapid, playful tone, by flying up into the sky. The OP starts taking on a more fantastical tone as the other dragons appear next to them in their dragon forms, before it breaks away entirely to the more serious aspects of the show and the characters. Specifically Tohru and Ilulu. But then we cut back to Kobayashi and Tohru who are floating back down to the ground after a day of flying, and are reunited with their found family of dragons... in a reminder that yeah it's not all going to be fun and games, serious things will happen, but at the end of the day they will all be there for each other. Cause they are a family now. I love it, it's such a good reflection of the show, and it's animated incredibly well. Def one of the best OPs I've seen in a while.
That's deep, man. I guess the opening was always deep, but I only realized it now. Thank you! I love this anime, and my viewing experience has been enriched.
This is a really great summary. Man I didn't think I'd fall in love with this anime as much as I have, and I'm not someone who even watches a ton of anime, it's just perfect, you can tell it's such a labor of love from the performances to the music to the animation. Even with all the innuendo and lewdness and all that it's such a human and emotionally sincere series, you really feel for everyone.
I think it's supposed to be Iruru. The horns don't match for Lucoa, who was also previously shown as a black feathery serpent in season 1's opening. Which is sad cuz I want to see more of Lucoa's dragon form...
It's not nearly as hopped-up-on-sugar-levels of insane as the last one, but this definitely has its own...assets. It's not visually shallow. It's clearly visually voluptuous, plump, and magnificent. Yes, I'm talking about the visuals. What are you implying?
This OP is so contagiously fun, and I can stop watching it. It's not just the song. Every character is animated with so much life, energy, and delight. You can tell that KyoAni made this as their welcome back party and I'll for it. 💖
Not gonna lie, the first couple of times I heard this I just wanted that first opening back, but after the 4th time they had me... LIKE IS THAT A NICHIJOU REFERENCE AT THE BEGINNING! And Lucoa's and Taketo's little dances are the cutest thing ever. Then that part where the music picks up and Tohru and Kobayashi are flying! It seems like we've got one of the best openings of all time on our hands here.
So I noticed that at the beginning where the characters spell the intro one character at a time that after it finished they start forming a sentence. I took a few minutes and here’s what it says: 「小林さんちのメイドラゴンSはじまります!」, which means “Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid S begins!”
@@gabetalks9275 Yeah, that's what made it so special! They treated their employees right and made sure they enjoyed their job, *plus* they pulled off beautiful animation.
That happened to me when Tsugumomo released its second season, just finished the first season and then the second started barely 2 weeks later, I had absolutely no idea!
