I don't know why this book is parading as an Agatha Christie novel. It was written by Alyssa Cole. It doesn't look or sound like Christie - or Miss Marple.

I guess I'm a purist. I prefer the mysteries that take place across the pond in England. This reminded me of the Phillip Marlowe and other radio mysteries of the 40's and 50's. Worth a listen though.

This is dreadful - the character of Miss Marple is reduced to a that of an inconsistent and rather dim woman. The dialogue has nothing to do with the originals. Even the plot has little to do with the complexities of a Christie novel. It’s just stealing names in order to get an audience for a pretty poor story

Miss Marple's wondrous, intellegent, and humble, reality oriented personality was not found in this story. A tale that was not in any way written in a style similar to Agatha Christie's.

No one can replace Agatha Christie, and no one should try. Shame on the family of the greatest mystery writer who ever lived. Don't you have enough money from your royalties already? And Alyssa Cole: why don't you just develop your own characters and leave Agatha Christie lovers to remember her fondly and without cringing?

I feel certain that if I say what I ACTUALLY feel about this story and the portrayal of the characters, someone will express judgement that it’s free, and if I don’t like it I shouldn’t listen. Well first of all, just because it’s free doesn’t mean people shouldn’t express honest opinions and give honest feedback. Secondly I really love Agatha Christie and Miss Marple, and I really WANTED this to be good. But the only thing worse than the story itself, is the readers absolutely horrific American accents😖

Guess you don't know what the REAL Agatha Christie was like. Maybe you should read them and then you'll know why Ms. Cole should create her own characters. Either way it's stealing, free or not free.

Now that Agatha Christie's works are entering the public domain, writers are allowed to incorporate the characters into new stories. This isn't an imitation of Christie. It's a What If game. What if dear Miss Marple went to New York? Would she still triumph in this very alien environment? Of course! I enjoyed it!

@@2msvalkyrie529 ironic you would call it drivel and put Christie so high on a pedestal when a lot of her work was racist and sexist and she copied plot twists multiple times in different stories and then put them out like they were new lol. Be so fucking forreal. The estate has the right to choose to release new licensed stories. If you don’t like them, don’t read them. Once you acknowledge Christie was a human and was in no way perfect herself, life will be a lot easier to swallow, simple child.
