The reason why bands go to Machine after a certain point in their career is because Machine is a pop producer, and he knows what makes success in music. Bands go to Machine, not to change their sound, but to render it to a sound that is more mainstream acceptable. He re-wrote a lot of Miss May I's new stuff and gave them advice on how to structure certain songs to make them more catchy. He's a great producer aswell as a great songwriter, definitely knows his stuff.
Also I see for his guitar they like to have that slipknot in them. Jim roots guitar with Mick Thompson pick ups. With machine producing obviously there following other bands ideas for inspiration, combining them together which makes them a successful band.
I really hope that this album doesn't suck considering they're using Machine. Everyone says he's a god in the studio, but if you look at Lamb Of God and Suicide Silence, they both used him and those are the albums where they started sounding totally different from what they used to. Just my opinion though.
I can't stand No Time To Bleed or most of Sacrament for that matter, but I completely agree that Ashes Of The Wake is Lamb Of God's best album, hands down. But listening to the sneak peaks of this album, I might be eating my words soon enough... guess we'll just have to wait and see, lol.
Yea he can be a bit Controlling haha but he is a pretty damn good producer. honestly i REALLY like No Time To Bleed. And Ashes of the Wake and Sacrament are probably Lamb of God's best albums. Esp, Ashes. My opinion =)
Machine is the man. But for bands like miss may I? I'm skeptical :/ don't get me wrong, he knows what he is doing but from the two or three records I've heard from bands I listen to that machine mixed were pretty thin sounding. And a little too natural sounding for my taste. That shit works well for bands like LoG but idk. I'm sure I'm wrong though. I hope lol
I think Machine brings out some of the best in bands. In Suicide Silences case, I feel No Time To Bleed was their best. Best message. The Cleansing was good but it was too anti religion, that it was almost obnoxious. Nothing wrong with that, just not a very broad concept. No Time To Bleed, as Mitch said, is to get shit done in life.
