Venus is our drought breaker. Her placement in the Top 15 way back in 2010 broke the 10 years unplaced streak. Shamcey was ethereal. She stood out. She was like a princess during her reign. And also one of the favorites of Trump. Janine is the real Miss Universe 2012. Not being shady but Olivia didn't even do great in the gown and swimsuit portion. And in the Q&A? She didn't slay even tho her answers are good. Ariella was the threat to the Latinas. Imagine being the only Asian standing among the Latinas. Also her face is very exotic which is why she's also Trump's favorite. MJ seriously slayed every round. She enjoyed the swimsuit more than Paulina, but her evening gown is her downfall. I saw her pink gown which is what she was supposes to wear during the final gown, but she refused and chose the Barazza gown. Pia the most memorable and unforgettable Miss Universe ever. Steve Harvey's mistake and Ariadna's reaction made Pia so popular. She slayed each round and she proved that the saying "Try and try until you succeed" is true. Maxine is one of the most beautiful Filipinas ever sent to Miss Universe. Even though her comm skills are weak - well, she just can't express herself in English - she still managed to advance to the Q&A because of her dark horse aura. Rachel, the one to beat in Miss Universe 2017. Still don't understand why she didn't advance to the Top 5. She slayed swimsuit, and evening gown. She has the potential to win the crown if she made it to the Top 5. Even Demi expected her to win. Catriona, the best Miss Universe ever. With her Google-y mind, she can outshine everyone. And also her twists in swimsuit, and her meaningful gowns, she can totally win the crown. And she is the only Miss Universe contestant all former beauty queens predicted to be the winner. Gazini, the most beautiful Miss Universe Philippines ever. Her placement doesn't define her to be the worst contestant ever. She still did a great job. Maybe it's not her destiny. Rabiya is so STUNNING. Honestly, during MUP 2020, I wasn't really rooting for her. I was rooting for Cavite, Quezon City, and Bohol. But when she competed, she actually messed up my list. Her performance during Miss Universe was memorable. However, she was a little off during the final night. I noticed her eyes were watery and she was nervous. Still, she did a great job. Her orange evening gown was gorgeous tho.
I agree on all your statements except for one - MJ didn’t want to wear that Barraza gown, it was Mdm Araneta’s decision. MJ wanted to wear that pink Leo Almodal gown. Imagine if she wore that gown, maybe she would have had placed rather than Ms. Netherlands.

Venus: She was the people's Queen. Fans rallied for her when she BPCI attempted to dethrone her. Whe she was called to be one of the few delegates to promote Miss Universe, I already knew that the organization favors her. She would be the first to lit the candle for the Philippines and made the return to Miss Universe and even other international pageantry. Shamcey: She is a lovely lady. My favorite among the queens lately. She has the beauty and the intelligence. What I loved about her time was that foreign media also loved her. Her tsunami walk was simply gorgeous. Janine: She should have won really. Her beauty is very Filipina and very smart too. I think she was in the mold of Miriam Quimbao. Ariella: She looked elegant at Binibini and fierce at Miss Universe. When she was called as the fan favorite, I was nervous that she might have made it based mainly on the strong votes of her fans. But when she did entered the next cut, I knew that the judges actually like her. Her styling at the prelims was not satisfactory, thank heavens she drastically changed it on final night. MJ: I hate her national costume but I do not hate her gown. She was vavavoom in swimsuit. Just my theory, on that year, MJ and Pia both competed at Binibini. That was MJ's last chance, Pia could still compete the next year, due to age restrictions. I think that is the reason why fhey chose MJ and left Pia without a crown (to save her for another year). Pia: Try and try and try until you succeed. It was all worth it. Pia was determined to win the crown. It was during her time that Filipino designers were tasked to handle her wardrobe, thankfully. She was regal like a queen and eye-catching like a celebrity. Maxine: She is beautiful but interview is her weakest forte. It was already evident even at Binibini. Among all the things to coach, communication skills is the hardest to improve so it really is better if a queen is very confident in speaking. Rachel: She was strikingly beautiful but there is nothing much going for her unlike the previous queens. She is very sexy. Catriona: She already won the hearts of Filipinos after her stint at Miss World which she should have won that is why when she competed at Binibini, it was already expexted that she would win. She worked hard for the crown. I love everything about her. Her lava walk, slow-mo turn, the iconic red gown, luzviminda costume, her earpiece, her interview... everything. Gazini: She was a headturner. She could have placed higher had the MU did not change the mechanics of the competition. I dont like the latest format. They removed the glam and made it more like a speech competition. Gazini could have aced the swimsuit and evening gown competition.
Gazini doesnt look sexy in 1 piece swimsuit in BB, upper body looks shorter n looks odd, doesn't like the eve gown shouldn't wear something like a polystyrene to put on the front, beautiful but lack overall aura in MU Venus didn't answer well during BB and MU..but omg Janine, Ariella, Rachl and Cat.. perfect aura
If you have seen Pia's explanation to this, she said she was referring to Miss World and Miss Universe. She initially said world, and so to align branding she had to say Universe. And yes it works for Cat!

Ariella is one of my favorites miss philippines. even she’s one of the least supported and heavily bashed miss phippines when she was crowned along with JANINE TUGONON AND MAXINE MEDINA. But this girl prove everyone wrong. She embraced that morena skin, straight long hair, expressive eyes and that gown? she made it look like it’s the best gown even it’s not really was. she really pull it off. she may not have the best body but the way she carry herself in swimsuit . my god! and that turn? one of the best turns ever. I think she’s the one who started the brown skin with straight long hair trend that’s being applied in pageants now

I remember Ariella... she was bashed left and right because many fans consider her a downgrade from Janine which is baffling because I found her more attractive. She is also the only fan voted contestant to make it all the way into the top 5, as most of them are often eliminated in the first cut, if not the second.

Janine Tugonon is also my favorite Miss Philippines. She was criticized when she won binibining pilipinas 2012, some people said she does not deserve to win because her face is not qualified for a beauty pageant standard but still she proved herself and showed everyone what she's capable of in the Miss Universe stage and that made me proud. Yes Darna. The Philippine's version of Wonder Woman. The classic Filipino character is a big part of our culture. She represents power, resilience, humility, Filipina gracefulness, integrity and truth. Pia, did this pose so well. She may or may not purposely did the pose but she really embodies Darna. There was even a time that the classic tale will be reproduced into a movie and Pia is one of the heavy fave to play the role.

2010s was perfect timing for the Philippines to make a comeback. Venus Raj was the drought breaker and opened the door for the Philippines to place at Miss Universe. Many positive changes occurred that attribute to the success. In 2011, Philippines TV network, ABS-CBN, became the new media partner and network for Binibining Pilipinas. Then, in 2015, Filipino designers were given the opportunity to design for our Miss Philippines.
Ariela Arida admitted that the hairstylist who did her hair for prelims that time didn't understand what she wanted to have. She had no time to change it so she just wore it as it was. 😊

Hi Miss Siera! It's me again. In my opinion, I mostly remember them through their signature walks. Here in our country, the Philippines, we tend to label the walk that our candidates showcase during rehearsals. It is based on their personal experiences, their birthplace, even an issue. Venus Raj had a walk called "Pilapil Walk" because before competing in Binibining Pilipinas, she practices her walk on a rice field called pilapil, a pathway between fields because Venus lives in a farm here. Shamcey Supsup had a walk called "Tsunami Walk." The name was derived after she showcased her signature walk and some people say that her walk is like a wave that is why it is called "Tsunami Walk." In 2012, we had Janine Tugonon and her signature walk was called "Cobra Walk." If you will watch the video during the coronation night, the evening gown competition of Miss Universe 2012, you will see that Janine had a pose on the end showing her hands acting as the head of a cobra, hence, the walk is called cobra. 2013 and 2019 - Ariella Arida and Gazini Ganados. Their walks were derived from their surname, naming it as "Arriba Walk" and "Ganado Walk." Ganado is a Filipino word for being lively or being energetic and enthusiastic. Mary Jean "MJ" Lastimosa and Maxine Medina's Walk is called as "Camel Walk and "Alta Walk" respectively. I don't why it was called like that. In 2015, Pia Wurtzbach first showed her signature walk in an entertainment show and then the host noticed her smize that is why the host named her walk as "Tanim-bala Walk." Tanim-bala is translated as implanted bullet. There was this news saying that the Philippine authorities tend implant bullets to the bags, luggages, pockets, etc. of the victims saying they have weapons in their belongings. It's somehow ironic but the host who labelled the signature walk of Pia said that her walk is deadly, like, there will be someone who will be in danger. Then, poof! Steve Harvey announced the wrong winner. Lastly, 2018 - Catriona Gray's walk, "Lava Walk", was derived from her hometown, Albay, where the very famous Mayon Volcano aka "Perfect Cone" volcano is located. It is called perfect cone because it's shape is like a cone that is very smooth, no dents at all. Little Trivia: Venus and Catriona's birthplace were in the same region in the Philippines.

Watching Pia's interview with Adam Genato (pageant vlogger) and she is like giving suggestions on what the Miss Universe Philippines candidates can do in this quarantine time. She was saying that if she is a contestant now, as soon as she wakes up, she would do a fasted cardio so she can be strong and lean even though she cannot go out to the gym. Then study whole day - watch interviews, not only beauty queens but also other empowered women, Ted Talks - across all fields. Watch current events. Watch Miss Universe but not only Miss Universe but also other pageants; so you can ask yourself, why did I join Miss Universe and not other pageants and why should I be the winner. What makes the Miss Universe different from other pageants. The girls should also be looking at gowns such as on Instagram - Hollywood, Met, Cannes, etc. Then save, save, save and look at each photo - until a vision comes - what styling, color, who will be the designer of the gown. As of now, the girls should be doing make-up daily, experimenting on their looks. As you keep on practicing, you'll be more faster and you should be a 1 man team when competing a pageant. Record a video of yourself talking and study your face reactions, study your walk on video - on how you can improve on these aspects. She said that during her time competing, she would just ask a friend to ask her a question and she would answer it as if she is already in the final night. It will help you speak in front an audience. Another suggestion she gave is to search for Thought Provoking Questions, event though this will not be asked in the pageant, it will help exercise the brain.
The moment Venus Raj arrived at MU, I thought she would at least make the final cut. 2012 for me was the winner of Miss Universe. 2013 was sassy and classy in her yellow gown and her hair straight down and so silky, wow. Pia had it all on the final night, needless to say, just look at her. 2016 ....I thought she was elegant but sweet as well. I was more impressed with her green gown. She looked very uniquely Filipino in that green gown. Catriona was very very deserving to win, though that year, my eyes were also on Miss Canada.

I can see that Miss Universe Phillippines every year did a rigorous training. The walk, the poise, the speeches, the glam, everything was just amazing.
