Miss Plus America Finds Dress That Shows Off Her Curves | Say Yes To The Dress: Big Bliss 

I was filmed on this show and JB was my consultant. She was so affirming and happy for me. I was a plus bride renewing my vows... I think a size 16...They only filmed me in 3 or 4 dresses but honestly I think there were at least that many others I didn't show on camera. I really wanted off the shoulder but they had nothing like that at the time. Things were high neck or princess and all the plus gowns were strapless. I was also open to other colours which they didn't have at all! I was there the whole day. It got to be a bit much for my youngest son and they weren't allowed to leave to get a drink or food (they have to be present the whole time except to use the washroom). I found a beautiful dress - my daughter chose it from the plus sized area, and my elder son said 'that's the dress' when I first came out in it. JB wanted me to try on some others and then we returned to that dress a few hours later. They were waiting for Randy to come film his part so we tried on dresses in the meantime, but after three hours (6 in total) I said that I really love the second dress and we filmed that last part where I said yes to the dress. I learned that my show was not going to air about a month later and was so disappointed. I'm not sure why but I think it was because Randy didn't come by until I was off camera - he said oh I'm so sorry, there was a big spender in the main area and I had to be there. He did seem disappointed and said he loved that we were foster/adoptive parents, something he'd always wanted to do. This was not filmed but he's a sweetheart.

At the time that this was filmed she was the definition of plus sized in bridal fashion. We've come a long way in the last 12-16 years.

When I got married 30 years ago there were no pluses in wedding dresses. I had mine hand made. It was made by my matron of honors mother. So it made the dress unique and special.

1st bride was a Queen een in many ways. Her King nearly flipped over the chosen gown. I pray 🙏 they are happy & healthy for a long life together. The 2nd bride was adorable in her nerves over the fit of the dress. Which was perfect & beautiful on her.

Yesterday Emily Campbell from England won the gold for weightlifting in CWG 2022. On googling I found she had difficulty finding sponsorship for her size. The irony. I still think, having a different pageant for plus size people are itself detrimental of the belief that everyone is beautiful. The day traditional beauty pageants combine people of every background that's only when you truly can say beauty is inclusive. But i don't think it's going to be in the near future. 😅

The first bride chose a great silhouette for her physique, but the style is so passe. Can't designers come up with other original designs, that flatter fuller figures (yes, ruching covers up less than flattering areas, but aren't there other ways of designing that offer a similar effect?).

As an Australian, we don't have a big pageant culture... It is weird to me; the crowns really throw me off too lol... I guess I don't really understand why it becomes part of someone's identity when/if they win. If I win a baking contest no one cares 😂

It creates such a weird dynamic for the consultant to also show up in a crown and sash, as if this is a competition :/ I'm sure the producers told the bride to wear her regalia, but it was a poor decision to have the consultant show up in a crown and sash too.

I don't think the consultant did a good job here or understood the bride at all. Randy should have stepped in to pick dresses. She wlso gave her plus size " body hiding / fixing" kind of dresses, which, especially for this proud bride, are pretty offensive.
