Cecilia Bolocco's interview here was probably the best in the history of the Miss Universe Pageant. She was witty, intelligent, spontaneous, sexy, and charismatic. We will probably never see such an exchange again as the Trump run pageant has downgraded the importance of the interview for a Victoria Secret model like production. What a shame--these were the glory years of the Miss Universe Pageant.

Same here still watching in 2020. I watched this as a 17 year old and now I'm 51 and that name Cecelia Bolocco has stayed with me because of this very interview. I've watched many pageants after that hoping to see something like this again but never did.

Absolutely spot on! We will never see an interview like Cecilia Bolocco's ever again. My mom and I saw this live when I was a kid and when the semifinalists were announced, my mom said Cecilia would win; the interview sealed the deal. All she had to do was just walk through the both the swimsuit and interview competitions. Trump is indeed a douchebag who has pretty much eliminated the interview and made it a Victoria Secret model-like production. 1986, 1987 & 1988 were the glory years!

La mejor entrevista de todas las ediciones del M.U es sin lugar a dudas la de Cecilia Bolocco, una entrevista muy entretenida, muy natural en sus respuestas, una seguridad e inteligencia muy buenas, por que sabiendo ingles perfecto pidio una traductora y hablo en español, entendia y sabia muy bien lo que le estaban preguntando, digan lo que digan ninguna a superado o igualado a Cecilia hasta el dia de hoy aunque existan puntajes que digan que otras la superan.
Aquí gano esta mujer las barrio a todas!! Si autenticidad, inteligencia , carisma y sencillez la coronaron además de ser bella, merecido triunfo para la chilena Cecilia bolocco, la vi en persona en Miami en el 2004 y es minúscula muy baja de estatura pero grande en lo q irradia!!
Mide 1.70 la estatura promedio de todas las ganadoras del Miss Universo. La viste chalas planas yo la vi con tacos y sobrepasaba el 1.80 toda producída era una Diosa!!
Soy chilena al igual que ella y también la vi en persona, es una mujer muy bella, con una figura hermosa y con mucho glamour natural, no pasaria desapercibida ni aunque anduviese vestida con buzo y zapatillas.
All the semi finalists were breathtakingly sweet and beautiful. Unlike the current pageant, Miss Universe in those era were represented with natural poise, beauty, wit and brains. Present, all candidates just championing about women's right and equality, showcasing their weaknesse and vulnerability. When they won, ie Philippines for eg, no more talk about women's right but instead doing makeup and catwalk tutorials and attend galas and awards sponsored by cartel. Sad. 😔
I agree 100%! The MU pageant has turned into a grand virtue-signaling contest, with almost no emphasis on physical beauty. The MUO has been infiltrated by rabid feminazis who’ve ruined it.
For cry out loud these judges were so rude and cruel to miss singapore by giving her a score of 7.935 for the interview no matter how charming and beautiful she is (not to mention her country is the host of the pageant). Shame on you judges, shame on you, you are all bs.
Y pensar que hacía sólo un mes antes habían realizado el Miss Sur América y Cecilia quedó de última entre las 10. Y luego llegó a Miss Universe y arrasó en todas las categorías.
Ese miss suramérica fue un bodrio televisivo, escandalosamente arreglado para darle en el gusto a los locales que, vociferaban estridentes a miss Colombia. En esa final, salvo Venezuela, ninguna figuró en miss universo. Está el video.
Creo que lo mismo le ocurrió a Angela Visser miss universe 1989. En miss Sudamérica pasó totalmente desapercibida y en el miss universo arrasó en todo creo. Ella también fue un bellezon de miss universe.
Bob Barker basically helped Cecilia win the whole pageant. But then again Cecilia took the initiative to extend interview further. Other contestants would've just left it at that after Bob translated the response and missed the opportunity.
Miss Chile is elegant to the max but I think Bob gave her an unfair advantage with his flirting with her and the whispering in her ear and the whole commercial thing. I think she also got a lot more time than the other contestants.
It appears in those years, the semi finals interview, especially pageants in the 1989s, was very important was the judges practically picked the winner based on it.

I agreee. I think the Miss Universe Pageant, and the judges, were enamored by the Swedish contestants for the first 30 years of the pageant. Miss Sweden 1987 was another example of a Swede who should not have been in the top 10, I think blond, Scandanavian beauty was the standard in the early years of the pagaent. This is no longer true given the dominance of Latin American contestants in the past 25 years.
Cecilia boloco es absolutamente natural, sin intervenciones de ninguna naturaleza. Hoy en cambio, las candidatas van operada y quirúrgicamente perfectas, pero se puede notar lo plásticas que se ven en cuerpo y rostro, .puedo darme cuenta que se ven todas iguales hoy en día, es como un molde a seguir quirúrgicamente

Miss Chile looks like a grand mother, not even the prettiest. Its a tie between Italy and USA. But because of her wit and humor, she's my winner. Fabulous lady!
All the delegates in this pagaent looked old cos of wearing make up (but they had to cos it's a pagaent). They were just between 18 - 23 yrs old at that year. If not mistaken, Miss Philippines was the oldest.
