A observação feita por Daniel De Boni é muito importante para o desfecho do que houve, mesmo assim entendo que a instabilidade emocional de Miss Korea também decorreu de sua pouca idade à época do concurso, creio que talvez estivesse com 18 dezoito anos de idade, dai a sua instabilidade naquele momento.

Pornthip is the smartest and so sweet in Miss Universe 1988...Miss Universe from Asia only from India and Thailand are so beautiful from Philippines was beautiful too but from Japan was not. Ese concurso lo debio de a ver ganado Korea o Mexico, siento que no gano Korea por que no sabia hablar ingles por eso se lo dieron a Tailandia. Cuando pronuncian a mexico como segunda finalista todas hacen cara de asombro y es con la unica con la que hacen eso, a excepcion de Filipinas que es la unica que festeja que nombraran a mexico 10:49 xD, insisto que Korea o Mexico se merecian esa corona, y que top tan mas descarado en toda la historia del miss universo.
Más lindas menos lindas, con vestidos sobrecargados etc. etc. pero hasta el 2000 las concursantes desfilaban realmente como aspirantes a una corona de reina de belleza y no como lo hacen ahora que parecen más desfiles para Playboy con excesivos contoneos, guiños de ojos, "picos" (besos) y saludos fuera de contexto; que pena que el concurso haya quedado así!
Es verdad, antes era con más estilo el desfile y se veían como lo que eran unas reinas y ahora parece que venden cuerpo, se mueven y contonean y enseñan casi todo, ya ha cambiado mucho el concurso conforme a la moda pero los movimientos de pasarela a veces rallan en lo vulgar y no es que sea espantada o anticuada pero siento que el concurso ya perdió su esencia, yo he se seguido desde niña y lo que veo ahora es que las que quieren ganarse al jurado mandan besos guiñan el ojo y se mueven más sexy y aunque contesten barbaridades ganan.

This was the only year when the Asians dominated the competition. Mexico, Amanda Olivares was stunning and would have made a great Miss Universe. She was a lot better than the 1991 winner from Mexico, Lupita Jones, who was arrogant and conceited. Thailand was a very great choice and did a lot and is still doing great work for the children in her country! They should have had a final question and the girls in the isolation booth. The producers that year weren't very good in that department.
Agree. I think Hong Kong’s placement could’ve been better had there been a final question round. Would’ve loved to see final question round. Such a pity and a shame there wasn’t!
After the interviews everyone knew who the winner, 1st And 2nd Runner up would be. In all three competitions, Thailand came in first, followed by Korea and Mexico! Porntip was lovely but Mexico would also have been a superb Miss Universe. She was much better than Lupita Jones who won the crown in 1991.Jines was arrogant and conceited.
So they just picked a winner based on one interview which was super basic ? No final Q&A ? Piece of cake for Thailand lucky her she got asked Easy questions. USA , Dominican Republic and Venezuela deserved to be in top 5 based on their elaborated answers

En 1988 paso lo mismo que en 2015 ! Por error de dedo en 1988 invirtieron los lugares en la tarjeta pusieron del 3 al 1 en lugar del 1 al 3 y la verdadera elegida era la mexicana Amanda Olivares. Los jueces se dieron cuenta del error pero ya no quisieron revertirlo era tv en vivo y por temor al escándalo ante millones que veían por televisión el evento donde estaban coronando a la asiática que le correspondia el 3er lugar que horror! Años después en entrevistas lo reconocieron públicamente los jueces que participaron en esa ocasión incluido a Fernando Allende quien fue juez también. En el Año 2015 que cometieron un error muy similar aplaudo la corrección, es lo mejor!!!.
