If Oxana had competed in another edition, probably she would have won just Miss Photogenic, but not the crown. At the end it was demonstrated she was not enough to be Miss Universe.

Miss RUSSIA was and is the most AMAZING contestant to have ever enter the Miss Universe Pageant. While the 9 other competitors wore beautiful traditional gowns, Miss Russia decides to wear this gown, which appeared to have been bed linen off of a hotel bed with Satin tied at the top, OUTSTANDING. This was a perfect example of, it's not always the dress that makes you pop, it's really the girl within. I believe that plain, but yet elegant gown allowed her to shine more brilliantly above her rivals.

She couldn't take any gowns to Miss Universe because she had to leave within 2 days after her visa aproval, so after she reached US, she asked a friend of hers to get a dress from Russia and it Was a Gucci gown that costed her 6000 dollars which also reached her two days before her Finals night and she was Miss Universe 2002......so number "2" played an important role

Albania's gown reminded me of Lara Dutta's in 2000 but nonetheless she carried well and walked beautifully. Russia wrapped a curtain around her but still managed to pull off a high score for the way she carried that gown with so much ease and elegance. South Africa's gown was beautiful and she looked beautiful in it. India's gown was yet another take on Halle Berry's Oscar gown, it was well made though and a black gown was something different. The judges may have considered it to be a rip off of the Oscar gown hence the low score. Germany wore a prom dress. The gown was blah. Cyprus' gown was very well made with intricate design and she should have advanced. Canada's gown was good, nothing great, Panama's gown was very beautiful with the fringes and it looked amazing on her. China looked sweet n cute n her gown was quite decent. Venezuela's gown kinda too low at the back but was good enough but she kinda walked too fast.

I think judges are well instructed to vote for "the girl", not the gown she's wearing. Oxana's gown was not "that" amazing, but she wore it so well......(btw, that white gown belonged to Miss Japan, who lent it to Oxana)
irondasgr It happened because, apparently for MUO the dress she wore in prelims was “ugly” and since she was heavy favorite she was told to get another dress.
No it’s not from Miss Japan. Oxana said her friend from Russia bought this gown from Gucci in Moscow & was worth $5K & was shipped to Puerto Rico just 2 days before the finals. She wore a different gown in the preliminaries.
She forgotten her gown in Russia so she have no choice but to use a bed sheet instead Lol! Don't forget she tied it with a satin ribbon on top so that it doesn't fall Lol!
Let's be honest here, as stunning as Oxana is, that dress was horrid. In this particular instance, the judges didn't even focus on it but just on her. She knew how to handle it and how to distract from it. The color also camouflaged all its flaws.

I don't find Panama as a good contender, biased judges, Canada, Cyprus and Germany were underrated,remove Panama and Venezuela in the top 5..South Africa and Russia are both pretty..

El peor vestido obtuvo el puntaje màs alto. Además que no lo supo "lucir" ya que una manta así tal vez solo Giselle Bundchen o alguna otra top model pudieron haberlo hecho. No debió pasar al siguiente top.
