Miss Universe 2023: Miss Zimbabwe and the controversial coronation for being white
Brooke Bruk-Jackson was crowned Miss Zimbabwe in September 2023, but her win was not well received by most of the public.
The 21-year-old model was the only white-skinned contestant at the pageant, as the African country is predominantly black.
"She does not represent Zimbabwean women, she was only born in the country, she is a foreigner," one critic said.
After taking the victory, she posted photos on her Instagram account to commemorate the momentous moment, however, people's comments were mostly negative.
Two months later, she is still receiving this kind of criticism on every photo she shares.
"If we knew how her family came to Zimbabwe, we could understand why it is not okay for her to represent this country," one comment reads.
"She represents the oppression of black Africans."
