Gillian Wills, Race is associated with biology, whereas ethnicity is associated with culture. Race and ethnicity can obviously overlap, but they are distinct. For example, a Japanese-American would probably consider herself a member of the Japanese or East Asian race, but, if she doesn't engage in any of the practices or customs of her ancestors, she might not identify with the ethnicity, but might instead consider herself to be American. www.livescience.com/33903-difference-race-ethnicity.html

My skin is the best it's ever been since I stopped using "all natural" products. Coconut oil made a dry-patchy layer over my cheeks & broke out my chin, once I stopped using it, that got better. Essential oils irritated & burned (yes, I used the "safer" EOs, lavendar, tea tree oil, no citric oils). In March of this year, I starting using Tretinoin and fragrance free products from CeraVe, Hada Labo, Vanicream, Timeless Skincare, & The Ordinary & I always top off my morning routine with a fragrance-free SPF. My skin has improved 10-fold!
@NicoleAlbrecht1
@NicoleAlbrecht1 5 лет назад
I'm totally betting whatever is going on around her jawline is related to the coconut oil! I used coconut oil as a makeup remover for a month, and started noticing HUGE cystic acne bumps on my cheeks. I finally put 2 and 2 together and realized it was the coconut oil that was causing these bumps! friends, invest in a balm/cleanser/miscellar water to remove your makeup!
@ScorpioMystik07
@ScorpioMystik07 5 лет назад
Yes agree. Also felt like Catriona didn't use enough water to rinse her face/below jaw and just added more occlusive skincare on top of makeup plus coconut oil. And maybe the essential oil in her scrub is making it worse.

I get what looks like a rash of tiny, red bumps all over the place, whenever I use it. No big, gross blocked pores, just general irritating at *all* of my pores being blocked. 😕 Horrible stuff. Makes me so sad when people get to the stage of using retin-a in their teens because of acne, but then they use coconut oil in order to decrease irritation, but also end up causing more acne, because it's coconut oil (probably the most comedogenic oil that's widely available). Yes, oils CAN help reduce irritation and dryness from retinols and acids, but don't undo all of the effort you're putting in by using bad oils! I'd only really consider coconut oil, jojoba on the face (for some people), sunflower seed oil, and olive oil to be considered "bad" oils to be used daily. The first two because of comedogenic ratings, and the last two because they're known to weaken your acid mantle's efficacy when used daily. You also have a MUCH higher chance of being allergic to natural products, oils included. You're much less likely to have a true allergy to man-made ingredients and oils, like vaseline. There is nothing about natural ingredients that makes them inherently better, and nothing about synthetic ingredients that make them inherently worse - more so the opposite. Oh, and one more minor thing... I'd recommend young people start working acids into their skincare routines sooner rather than later. Don't use grainy, manual exfoliation if you don't absolutely need to - maybe buy yourself some microfiber cloths, instead. :(
@lindavel43
@lindavel43 5 лет назад
Same! Also with olive oil. I do use it to do face massage once in a while, but I make sure I wash it off. I still get the benefits of hydration without the pore clogging effects.

This GIRL doesn't seem to know much of anything, though she acts like it. 90s- early 2010s, it's understandable. But, with SO much information available now, how can someone be so ignorant, much less win Miss Universe?! The judges probably have peons for brains & judging more with their genitalia rather than sense. We'll prob. get called haters. Looking through the comments here (& original vid.) this girl is getting nothing, but love. I don't care. If someone is going to be called Ms. Universe, she has to deserve it. Micellar water is the best makeup remover. Not harsh, not comedogenic. Simple but effective. I love how you critique skincare routine videos. Very considerate but you don't hesitate to give your opinion. Some of the things that I've learned so far from your reactions: 1.) Just because it's natural, doesn't mean it's always good for you. Likewise, chemical ingredients are not always bad for you and that they are in products for a reason whether for more effective and precise skincare or as stabilizers. 2.) Beauty trends will not necessarily work for you. 3.) Makeup wipes are evil. lol

Some people have the genetics where their pores don't get clogged no matter what they put on their face. My boyfriend is one of those people. They can scrub their face with body wash, or not even wash it for a week, and their skin stays clear and even. I'm the opposite of that. Everything irritates my skin! It's not fair. I'm guessing that her skin is more tolerable and naturally easy to care for. That's why she's a model, I guess. Maybe it'll catch up to her when she's 40.

Love this! I’ve always been commenting / noting on women’s skincare routine on RU-vid - your comments are all on point! So far Jackie Aina scored the highest in terms of skincare on pointness 😹

I'm sure the irritation is coming from using a physical exfoliator as her cleanser every single night. My face would be absolutely raw. Combine that with the makeup wipe before that and her skin is bound to be red and inflamed.

Hey Susan, so glad this is a weekly series! Could you do a video explaining good ingredients and one's to avoid? (i.e. dimethicone, phenoxyethanol, ect.) I tend be conscious about skincare ingredients and would like to be better informed.

In case she doesn't I have one for you! Morning: Wash face with water While wet use moisturiser After absorbed use spf Evening: Oil cleanse Gel/foam cleanse Use serum (this is interchangeable, I'd recommend a retinol, Niacinimide or perhaps vitamin C serum depending on your skin's needs) Finally, seal that all in with a thicc moisturiser Hope that helps you in case the video isn't made! Xoxo

ThisIsACrappyUsername hey , why did you say to apply moisturiser to wet skin ? Also , my skin is absolutely clear .. no acne . I do have a touch of hyperpigmentation around the mouth but not too severe . Would you recommend Retinol or Vit C serum ? Just want to have glowing skin and prevent aging . Thanks again x
@thisisacrappyusername892
@thisisacrappyusername892 5 лет назад
Sierra Jameson (I'm gonna get a wee bit techy here but bare with me) When you let your skin dry, you're causing trans-epidermal water loss, basically you're allowing as the water evaporates for moisture to be drawn outside of your skin. Not so good, because you want to seal in that moisture rather than letting it shove off into the air outside. By putting on a moisturiser while your skin is wet, you get that seal. Option 1:You COULD use vitamin C in the morning (and add an extra step to your morning routine) and then retinol once every 2-3 days in evening. Option 2: Alternatively, you could use vitamin C in both the morning and evening. If you're only concern is hyper pigmentation, vitamin C is the way to go, if you're concerned with anti-aging too, I suggest option 1 Hope that helps! Xx

I finally came to terms that diy and natural is rarely good for me. I have highly reactive skin. Synthetic products without known irritants and allergens have been skin saver for me. Also wanted to add my 2 cents as a sex educator regarding coconut oil as a lubricant. Yes, it sits on the skin and that means it also sits in your vagina which can increase the likelihood of bacterial infection and yeast infections. Just because it's found in nature doesn't mean it should be on your skin or in your body.

Hey I would recommend you to check out other channels too - Gothamista by Renee and Caroline Hirons channel. Also Nadine Baggott. They are some of the first people on youtube to do well informed skincare. Stephanie Nicole too (she has half makeup half skincare stuff). With all the info between them, they are very good!! I am a medical resident having several years of experience in Dermatology and Laser techniques so can vouch for them.

That jaw line area is extremely common for adult hormonal acne. My opinion is that she needs a BHA suited for her in that area and keep the coconut oil for eye makeup removal only if you must

Why I love being an esthetician in 20’s .. because when I was a teenager, all I used was makeup wipes and neutregena cleanser. Now that I’m an esthetician and I follow you, Susan, I’ve learned so much about skin. And I couldn’t agree with you more.

I also would like to point out that Catriona could be breaking out on her jawline/chin area because she doesn’t remover her makeup on her neck so when she applies moisturizer on her neck upward, all that makeup/dirt basically just went up to her jawline mixed with moisturizer
