2000 was the "grand-slam" year for India as each woman won Miss Universe, Miss Asia Pacific and Miss World. MAPQ then was part of the alpha pageants' circle and its slot was later taken over my Miss Earth.
Back then miss world was very classy and expensive. Imagine going to maldives just for swimwear round and then fly back to London for finals. The format was also very classic and regal. Missing the old miss world and old miss universe days. Miss international barely chnged since 90s.
Interesting how Jo is performing as part of Sclub7 just before the finale where the former Miss World from India (Yukta) will crown her successor (Priyanka) again an Indian. 7 years later, Jo would go on to bully Indian actress Shilpa Shetty on Celebrity Big Brother.
This is my first miss world to watched but dint watched till end.. I was 6 years old dint understand when next morning I woke up miss India won Miss World 😊
She truly deserved it, so well spoken, eloquent, intelligent and poised, her interviews are training videos for me to learn so much about life. I truly admire Sushmita Sen and Priyanka , these two women are personality development institutes themselves
USA here finished 2nd runner-up in Miss USA 1999.... as Miss World USA 2000 she truly got her wish fulfilled to compete in the international stage and made her country proud by making it to the top ten.
One of my sentimental fav edition of Miss World. Priyanka is the clear winner no doubt, Im just disappointed with Miss Turkey she shouldn't placed higher I prefer Colombia on top 5.
Ohh.. i just realized that this edition was sponsored by zee tv from india, and even the opening gowns are made by Indian. Judge also from India. But priyanka proved herself worthy, shes now a big holywood and bolywwod star
Oh wasn't aware of that....esp of the 3 connections - sponsorship, designing & judging. Priyanka earned the Title ..but One cannot hold back the thought that the final decision may be biased

@@taroupriapus5202 miss universe 2001 for me was worst presentation. Id take miss world 2001 anytime, both the winner and the presenration. Everything was so good in 2001.
USA's styling here was way better compared to her styling in Miss USA 1999. Here she looks much younger and vibrant with her hair down and with a lighter shade of lipstick.

Great tjat they had a parade of semi finalists in their gowns while being serenaded by Bond but the camera angles were all over especially for Kenya who didnt even have a solo close up shot.
One thing, in 02:08:33 Priyanka considered Mother Teresa as the most successful woman living. But Mother Teresa had passed away just before 3 years of this pageant. So how could she said Mother Teresa as her answer?

I can definitely tell that they were leaning towards Miss Italy but Priyanka simply dominated the question round by a mile. Also, Miss Colombia was all set for a Top 5 placement until the last question, which made her look kind of arrogant.
Just finished it and cant help but realize that India copied the question from Femina Miss India and her answer to the final question was technically incorrect since mother teresa had been dead for more than 3 yrs at the time. Had she said " she is still alive in the hearts of many" during the question and answer portion then her win would be unquestionable.anyhow, fixed or not she went on and became a very successful miss world and actress, same level as aishwarya.
i think its not fair for jerry the host to interpret the question by making easy the question from miss india which is " if ignorance is bliss then why do we seek knowledge"
