You wrote that 12 years ago. Those days were bad enough as is, but it's 2020 now and I'm sure the Chinese have bought all the television stations. This won't air ever again and I'm surprised it's stlll on this commie-owned platform.
@@Fortress333 you wrote that 6 months ago, it's 2021 now, anyone can watch this on youtube or stream full episodes on amazon tv. You're whinging about "commie owned" platforms while getting free access to the show on the platform you're complaining about, do you understand irony!
Geoffrey Hughes as Onslow (or however you spelt his name) could certainly have attested to that in The Bucket Woman Show (aka Keeping Up Appearances), like good ol' Rik he sadly died! :((
This was the pilot episode, could be the reason. It's slightly weaker than the rest of the Bottom episodes and there are a few differences - Eddie has hair, the flat layout, the tone is darker (all the suicide stuff).
@Lauren Evenden It was the pilot episode, it was filmed a number of months before the rest of series one. They changed the running order and had this one shown after Smells and Gas. Eddie has hair in this one and Richie's hair is shorter than the rest of the episodes. I'm guessing they wanted to start with a stronger episode to attract viewers that's why they changed the running order.
@@bootleg8923 I stand corrected, haha. Why I was so certain in my conviction I have no idea. Maybe because its one of my favourite episodes so I didn't think there was a quality dip? Who knows.
It's just noticeably sub par and feels pretty stilted and sterile, but that's just a side effect of it being the pilot episode. The pilot episode isn't necessarily the first episode to be aired and in this case it wasn't. The episode from S2 when they go camping on Wimbledon Common was also delayed from broadcasting for several months, because of the Rachel Nickell murder.
I think it's great that we don't know anything about Richie or Eddie's backgrounds. How old they actually are, how long they've known each other, how and when they came to be living together in that flat, what they do all day off-camera and so on. We don't really need to know any of that and, in my opinion, it would to a certain degree spoil things if we did.
